An hour later, Braelynn and a group of technicians left Vortex Technology.
They went to a nearby café and found Kamden at a window seat.
Seeing them, Kamden spoke first, "This isn't the place to talk. Follow me to the hotel next door."
Everyone nodded and followed Kamden.
Soon, they rented a room at a nearby hotel.
Once inside, Braelynn confessed, "Miss Jones wasn't threatened by us at all and even guessed that we were embezzling company funds."
Hearing this, Kamden's face darkened as expected.
He had thought that since Braelynn and the others were core technical staff, causing some trouble would easily get him back to his original position.
But he hadn't expected Miss Jones to actually let Braelynn and the others leave. Didn't she fear that the company's projects would suffer?
Braelynn was unaware of his thoughts but was worried about something else.
"Mr. Cross, we followed your lead and left the company. Now we're all jobless. If Miss Jones spreads any word outside, it will be hard for us to find work."
In essence, they wanted Kamden to help them find new jobs.
Kamden understood and reassured Braelynn, "Don't worry. I won't leave you hanging. I'll arrange something soon. For now, go home and wait for my call."
Braelynn didn't doubt him and left with the others.
Soon, Kamden was alone in the room, looking displeased.
"Damn woman, she really is as tough as Mr. Jones said!"
He gritted his teeth and then made a phone call.
Meanwhile, Deanna knew nothing of this.
After a brief tour of the company, she was about to return to her office when her phone rang. It was Lance calling.
"What made you think of calling me?" Deanna answered with a smile.
The next moment, Lance's deep and gentle voice came through the phone, "I heard you went to Vortex Technology?"
"Yes, I came to take a look and see how to develop the company in the future. After all, it's my mother's hard work; I can't just watch it go to ruin."
Deanna didn't hide her thoughts and spoke openly.
Lance then asked, "So, what do you think so far?"
"I've only taken a quick tour and dealt with some people. I haven't fully understood the company's situation yet. It might take until the afternoon to figure it out."
"Alright then. Since you're out, let's have lunch together. I'll come pick you up later."
Lance invited her.
Deanna naturally agreed.
After hanging up the phone, she returned to her office with a faint smile but found someone already there.
"Miss Mills, why are you here? Have those people finished their inspection?"
"Yes, they have. I'm waiting for you because there's another issue."
Miss Mills frowned as she spoke.
Hearing this, Deanna's good mood from planning lunch with Lance faded. She asked, "What's the problem now?"
"Other employees are resigning one after another without asking for their salaries. After submitting their resignation letters, they all left. Now there are less than ten managers and twenty employees left in the company."
As Miss Mills finished speaking, Deanna's face grew even more serious.
She looked at Miss Mills and asked, "Is this Kamden's doing?"
"I don't know," Miss Mills shook her head and continued, "Some of these people didn't get along with Kamden, so they probably wouldn't listen to him. Maybe they thought the company was going under since the technical department left..."
Though she didn't finish her sentence, Deanna understood.
Indeed, with the core technical staff gone, how could other employees not be worried?
Thinking about this, Deanna's bad mood eased slightly.
But now wasn't the time to dwell on it. "We can't have vacant positions in the company. You're the HR manager; you should have a system for hiring. Try to find suitable people within three days to fill important positions and keep the company stable."
"I'll do my best," Miss Mills didn't refuse.
Deanna nodded and signaled her to get back to work.
After sending Miss Mills away, Deanna approached her desk and saw the account books on it, feeling overwhelmed.
Despite her headache, she gritted her teeth and sat down to go through the books one by one.
Time passed unnoticed until Lance called again, reminding her it was already noon.
"Wait for me; I'm coming down now."
She spoke into the phone while gathering her things.
In no time, she hurried downstairs.
Outside, Lance saw Deanna rushing out and quickly went to meet her, holding her gently while speaking in a soft yet slightly scolding tone, "Why are you running so fast? What if you fall?"
