"Who are you?"
The staff member, waking up, questioned Deanna. Her tone was somewhat unpleasant, seemingly annoyed that Deanna had disturbed her nap.
Seeing this, Deanna frowned even more and asked back, "I recall it's working hours now. You're openly neglecting your duties and speaking rudely to a visitor. Has the company's discipline become so lax?"
The staff member seemed taken aback by Deanna's counter-question and froze for a moment.
"What's it to you?"
She glared at Deanna with an arrogant attitude.
Deanna laughed in anger at this.
Immediately, she put on a stern face and commanded the staff member, "Who is the current person in charge of the company? Get them out here!"
Seeing Deanna's sudden change in demeanor, the staff member felt inexplicably scared and guilty.
Could this person be from the head office? Otherwise, why would she ask to see her uncle? Yes, the staff member in front of Deanna was Laura Cross, the niece of the current head of Vortex Technology.
Seeing Laura Cross not moving for a long time, Deanna's displeasure became even more apparent. "What, is your manager not here?"
After saying this, she ignored Laura Cross's expression, grabbed her handbag, and strode into the company.
As she left, a light breeze blew past, and Laura finally snapped out of it.
"You can't just enter the company!"
Seeing Deanna's figure about to disappear into the company entrance, Laura hurriedly chased after her to stop her.
Her voice also alerted other employees in the company.
For a moment, many people looked over and also noticed Deanna's displeased expression.
"Who is that? She's really beautiful."
"Do you think she might be Kamden's lover?"
"I think so. Otherwise, why would Laura be so eager to stop her?"
"Oh, I remember now. Kamden's wife is also here today. Things will be interesting."
People whispered among themselves in low voices.
Due to Laura's shouting, Deanna didn't hear those speculations.
However, she was annoyed by Laura's obstruction and finally revealed her identity. "You don't need to stop me. I am the new chairperson of the company."
This statement was like a stone dropped into a calm lake, creating ripples.
The staff present were stunned and looked at Deanna in astonishment.
They didn't expect this young and beautiful woman to be their chairperson.
Laura was also shocked.
Seeing her stunned reaction, Deanna showed a satisfied expression.
At least this woman wouldn't obstruct her anymore.
Thinking this, she asked the dazed staff beside her, "Who is currently in charge of your company and which office are they in?"
"Mr. Cross is currently in charge. His office is the one at the far end."
The staff responded blankly to Deanna's question.
Hearing this, Deanna nodded at the staff and walked towards the office at the far end.
Before she got close, she heard awkward sounds coming from inside. Her already displeased face turned even darker.
No wonder Vortex Technology had been losing money so badly in recent years. With such an incompetent manager and lazy employees, it was no surprise!
Thinking this, she didn't care if she would scare the people inside. She knocked on the door twice and said in a deep voice, "I am the new chairperson of the company. You have three minutes to handle your private matters and come out. I'll be waiting in the meeting room!"
With these words, there was a sound of collision from inside the office.
Deanna pretended not to hear it, kept a cold face, and turned to instruct a staff member to take her to the meeting room.
About five minutes later, the door of the meeting room was pushed open from outside.
Deanna squinted at the middle-aged man who walked in and said with a cryptic expression, "I assume Garrett has informed you of my identity."
"Yes, Miss Jones. Mr. Jones has informed me. From now on, this company is yours," Kamden Cross replied respectfully on the surface but was secretly sizing up Deanna.
Little did he know that his supposedly discreet actions were already seen through by Deanna.
Deanna didn't expose him. She lowered her eyes and coldly asked, "So you are the one managing this company?"
"Yes. Is there anything you need from me?" Kamden Cross' asked with flickering eyes.
Deanna didn't answer but instead spoke about everything she had seen since entering the company. "I don't know how you manage this company, but from the moment I stepped in, I felt like I entered a tea party rather than a company. The reception doesn't look like a reception; the employees don't look like employees; and as a manager, you were doing inappropriate things in your office. Do you think you look like a manager?"
Hearing these words, Kamden Cross' face instantly stiffened, and he had a bad premonition in his heart.
