Looking at Deanna, who was wholeheartedly thinking of him, Lance felt a warm sensation in his chest.
He pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on her neck, and chuckled softly, "Don't worry. Even if Garrett wants to cling to me, it's not that easy. Besides, it depends on whether I want him to. I don't want Garrett to gain any benefits from me."
Deanna made her stance clear.
With a serious look in her eyes, she said, "Although I don't have any evidence yet, I am certain that my mother's death is connected to him."
Hearing this, Lance remembered his promise to Deanna to help investigate her mother's death.
"Actually, my people have found some clues about this matter, but the information isn't confirmed yet, so I haven't told you. But we should have results soon."
"It's okay. I'm already surprised that you found some clues. No matter how long it takes, I'm willing to wait."
Deanna looked at him sincerely.
She wasn't lying. After all, it had been many years since the incident, and her mother's funeral was arranged very quickly after her supposed suicide. Even if there were doubts, many clues had become elusive with her mother's death.
Seeing this, Lance held Deanna tightly and promised seriously, "I will definitely find out the cause of your mother's death and bring the culprit to justice."
"I believe you. Thank you on behalf of my mother."
Deanna gave him a sweet smile, her eyes filled with deep affection.
Lance couldn't help but lower his head and kiss her soft lips.
Soon, they started more intimate interactions.
The next day, Lance came downstairs from the bedroom looking satisfied.
Downstairs, the two little ones saw him alone and curiously asked, "Daddy, why are you alone? Where's Mommy?"
"Your mommy was tired last night. I let her rest a bit longer. Let's have breakfast first; I'll take you to school later."
Lance lied without feeling embarrassed at all.
Then he turned to Old Ashley and asked, "Grandma, could you please keep Deanna's breakfast warm in the kitchen?"
"I know. You go ahead to work," Old Ashley replied with a smile.
Later, after breakfast, everyone went about their own business.
When Deanna woke up, it was almost noon. She felt like her whole body was falling apart.
After a quick wash, she rubbed her waist and went downstairs, finding only her grandmother in the living room.
"Good morning, Grandma."
Deanna greeted her with a bright smile.
Old Ashley heard her voice and looked over kindly. "You're up. I had someone keep your breakfast warm in the pot."
"Thank you, Grandma. I'll go eat now and come back to keep you company."
Deanna said as she gently hugged Old Ashley before running towards the dining room.
After breakfast, she returned to sit beside her grandmother.
Old Ashley noticed the dark circles under her eyes and frowned slightly. "Deanna."
"What's wrong, Grandma?"
Deanna looked at her in confusion.
Old Ashley hesitated for a moment but then voiced her thoughts. "I know you and Lance are deeply in love right now, but some things should be done in moderation to avoid harming your health."
After all, she was Deanna's only elder. If she didn't remind her about these things, Deanna might not understand.
Hearing this, Deanna was stunned for a few seconds before realizing what her grandmother meant.
She choked on her own saliva and coughed several times before calming down.
"Grandma," Deanna spoke shyly, her face turning red all the way to her neck.
Seeing this, Old Ashley laughed. "Alright, alright, I won't say anymore."
Even so, Deanna felt too embarrassed to stay at home. Remembering the transfer documents Lance had brought back last night, she decided to visit Vortex Technology.
Vortex Technology was located in an office building on Cloudmere Financial Outer Street. The location wasn't great; it was even outside the bustling financial district.
All of this was caused by Garrett.
Back then, Vortex Technology was worth a fortune and even had its own building in the financial district.
But after Garrett took over, the company declined year by year. They couldn't even keep their building and had to relocate.
Thinking of this, Deanna stepped out of the elevator with a complex expression and saw a simple reception desk with the words "Vortex Technology" on the wall behind it.
The receptionist hadn't noticed Deanna and was sleeping on the desk.
Deanna frowned and walked over, knocking on the desk. "Wake up."
The sudden noise startled the receptionist awake. She sat up abruptly but still looked dazed as she stared at Deanna.
