Upon hearing this, Mia finally understood why Garrett had handed Vortex Technology over to Deanna.
Trading a company that had been losing money every year for a project that yielded billions in profit was a great deal for Jones Group. However, for Mia, it was a loss.
The profits from Vortex Technology were worth far more than billions; it was a golden goose. Unfortunately, Mia couldn't explain this to Garrett directly. She could only frown and express her confusion, "Even if the revenue is in the billions, Vortex Technology is worth much more than that. I remember there are several patents in Vortex Technology that generate ongoing fees."
"I understand what you mean. Those patents in Vortex Technology aren't enough. You don't know how much money this company has consumed over the years without producing a single successful project. Using this useless company to trade for a billion-dollar project and offsetting the stocks Olivia left for Deanna-honestly, it's not a loss. In fact, we gained!" Garrett said with pride.
Mia was stunned by his words. "What do you mean by saying that Deanna's shares were also offset?"
"Deanna gave up those shares and only took a loss-making company."
Garrett couldn't help but laugh again. "People always say Lance is an excellent businessman with sharp insight, but I think he's just average. He was fooled by me into giving up shares worth billions for an unprofitable company."
Seeing the increasingly arrogant man, Mia wanted to retort. What did he mean by fooling Lance? Clearly, it was Lance who had played him.
Although Jones Group's shares were valuable, they were still inferior to Vortex Technology. After all, one could continuously generate profits and increase in value if managed well, while the other would eventually fail under poor leadership.
Thinking of this, Mia felt even more unwilling. Why should Deanna get all the benefits?
"Garrett, I think we shouldn't give Vortex Technology to Deanna. Let's give her another company."
"No way. I've already discussed it with Mr. Mercer. Besides, except for Vortex Technology, the other companies are profitable, even if not by much. Only Vortex Technology has been costing me money. If it weren't for you persuading me over the years, I would have sold this company long ago. Now it can offset Deanna's shares worth billions and establish a connection with Mercer Group. It's worth it," Garrett said with a satisfied smile.
Mia saw this and knew there was no room for regret, so she had to give up.
Forget it. She shouldn't think too much. If Deanna couldn't manage Vortex Technology like Garrett, she might still have a chance to get it back.
The next morning, Garrett arrived at the office and urged his assistant to bring over the drafted contract for review. Once he confirmed everything was correct, he contacted Lance eagerly, "Mr. Mercer, I have the contract and transfer documents ready. When would you be available to sign them?"
"I'll send someone over shortly," Lance replied coldly before hanging up.
Garrett's face darkened as he looked at the disconnected phone.
He had hoped to suggest having a meal together when Lance came to sign the contract to build a closer relationship. But Lance showed no interest in seeing him again.
Despite his dissatisfaction, Garrett greeted Xavier with a smile when he arrived.
About half an hour later, Lance received the transfer documents from Xavier. With a slight smile, he said softly, "Although I couldn't get all the shares back for Deanna, she should be very happy with this company."
Xavier remained silent, knowing Mr. Mercer didn't need a response but couldn't help but marvel internally.
Since being with Missus, Mr. Mercer had become more like a different person.
That evening, Lance wanted to surprise Deanna and returned to the manor early.
As soon as he entered the living room, he heard laughter mixed with the sounds of cats and dogs.
In the living room, two children were playing with two pet cats and Demon in a lively scene.
Deanna watched them with a bright smile.
Lance was also infected by the scene before him, feeling warmth and contentment in his heart.
This was the life he had always hoped for.
At that moment, Deanna noticed Lance standing at the entrance and asked in surprise, "Why are you home so early today? No social engagements?"
"I wanted to come back early to spend time with you all today. I had Xavier cancel all my engagements," Lance replied as he walked towards Deanna.
Hearing his words, Deanna's smile became even more radiant and happy. She laughed, "Perfect timing! Gregory and Chloe were just saying how long it's been since you played with them. Tonight you can spend some quality time with them."
