At lunchtime, Lance and Deanna listened to Logan and Samantha talk about Gregory's cleverness and bravery.
"You should have seen it, Gregory was commanding a group of kids older than him with such ease and confidence," Samantha said enthusiastically.
Deanna found it both amusing and pride-inducing. Lance also smiled slightly, glancing at the two little ones sitting beside their grandparents, his eyes filled with pride.
Gregory, however, felt embarrassed by the praise, his cheeks turning red as he smiled and said, "That's because Grandpa and Grandma were there, so I felt confident."
Hearing this, Samantha and Logan felt warmth in their hearts. Especially Samantha, who excitedly pulled Gregory into her arms for a hug.
"Tell me the truth, did you eat a lot of candy today? Why are you talking so sweetly?"
"I didn't eat any candy. I'm telling the truth," the little guy said seriously.
Unbeknownst to him, this made him even more adorable, making Samantha unable to resist hugging him tighter.
Later, after lunch, the family went for a walk in a suburban park. The park was large, with gardens, lawns, and artificial lakes, making the air pleasant. Consequently, many visitors came to play there.
Just like in the morning, as soon as they arrived, the elderly couple urged Deanna and Lance to leave.
"You two go have fun on your own. We'll contact you when it's time to go back."
"Daddy, take Mommy on a date. We won't disturb you," the two little ones waved goodbye.
Deanna couldn't help but laugh, "I think it's you two who don't want us to disturb your fun because Grandpa and Grandma let you play however you want, right?"
Seeing their mother expose their thoughts, the two little ones giggled, admitting it.
Deanna had no choice but to ask Logan and Samantha, "Please take care of them, but don't spoil them too much."
"If we don't spoil them, who will we spoil? Don't worry about it. Go on a date with Lance," Samantha said disapprovingly, shooing them away again.
Deanna had no choice but to leave with Lance. On the way, she held onto Lance's arm and laughed, "Do you think your parents spoil Gregory and Chloe too much?"
"It's normal. They finally get to be close to the kids. Besides, Gregory and Chloe are so well-behaved that anyone who meets them would want to spoil them," Lance said with a smile as he held her closer.
Then he added teasingly, "But don't worry, no matter how much I spoil them, the one I love the most is still you."
Hearing this sudden sweet talk, Deanna blushed. She glanced at Lance playfully and said with a laugh, "I think it's not Gregory who ate candy today; it's you. How come you're so good with words?"
"That's because it's you," Lance said without hiding his affection for Deanna.
Listening to him, Deanna felt like she was in a honey pot, even the air she breathed seemed sweet.
Meanwhile, the two little ones were having a great time with Logan and Samantha. Under the sunlight, the four of them ran on the lawn with colorful kites flying above them.
"Grandpa is amazing! We won!" Chloe clapped her hands happily as she saw their kite flying higher than her brother's.
Samantha felt a bit dejected and apologized to Gregory, "It's all Grandma's fault for wearing high heels. Otherwise, we wouldn't have lost to Grandpa."
"It's okay. Winning or losing doesn't matter as much as Grandma does," Gregory comforted Samantha.
He truly didn't care about winning or losing.
Hearing this, Samantha hugged Gregory tightly.
Of course, Chloe wasn't arrogant about winning either. Instead, she shared her prize willingly.
Throughout the day, Lance's parents grew more fond of the two little ones. To them, Gregory and Chloe were smart, polite, and articulate-exactly the perfect grandchildren they had always dreamed of.
As a result, when it was time to part ways, Lance's parents were reluctant to let them go.
"Why don't we take the kids home with us for a few days?" Samantha suggested eagerly to Deanna and Lance.
Logan nodded in agreement, "I think your mother's idea is great. We don't have much to do anyway. We can take care of the kids while you two enjoy some time alone or focus on your careers."
Hearing this, Deanna felt a bit at a loss and looked at Lance. Although she knew Lance's parents weren't trying to take her children away from her, she didn't want to be separated from them.
Sensing her unease, Lance gently patted her hand reassuringly and said to his parents, "I know you miss the kids, but for now let Deanna take care of them. When school is out in a couple of months, I'll bring the kids and Deanna home to stay for a while. In the meantime, you can visit on weekends and take them out to play."
