Chapter 489: Dr. Deanna, Can You Afford It?

Looking at the woman's indifferent demeanor, Hassan's interest grew even stronger.

He promised, "Don't worry, as long as I'm here, she won't bother you again."

After speaking, he gestured for Deanna to get in the car.

Deanna nodded calmly.

Thus, the three of them got into the car and headed to the busiest shopping district in the city.

Perhaps due to the unpleasant incident with Leticia earlier, the three of them remained silent during the drive.

After about twenty minutes, they arrived at the shopping district.

As soon as they got out of the car, Leticia eagerly entered a women's clothing store.

"Miss Walsh, you're here! I was just about to contact you. We've received this season's new arrivals today."

The store clerk greeted Leticia warmly as soon as she saw her.

It was clear that Leticia was a regular customer at this store.

Deanna, however, showed little interest in the clothes.

She simply followed Hassan around, browsing casually.

Seeing this, Hassan smiled and asked, "Miss Jones, aren't you going to pick out some clothes?"

"No, I don't need any," Deanna declined with a shake of her head.

At that moment, Leticia approached with a silk dress in hand and said enthusiastically, "Dr. Deanna, I think this dress would suit you well. Why don't you try it on?"

Without waiting for a response, she shoved the dress into Deanna's arms.

Deanna frowned immediately and squinted at Leticia, wondering what she was up to this time.

Hassan had similar thoughts. His cousin's behavior was too unusual.

The store clerk, unaware of the underlying tension between the three, complimented Deanna's appearance and style. "Miss Walsh has a great eye. This silk dress would indeed suit this lady's temperament. You should try it on."

Although she couldn't recognize the brand of Deanna's clothes, her experience in the fashion industry told her that the fabric was of high quality and the craftsmanship was impeccable-definitely not something ordinary people could afford.

Deanna had no idea that the clerk had already assessed her wealth.

Just as she was about to refuse, Hassan gently said, "Since the clerk thinks it suits you, why don't you give it a try?"

Left with no choice, Deanna took the dress to the fitting room.

As a result, she didn't notice the malicious look in Leticia's eyes behind her.

Hassan didn't notice either but still issued a warning.

"You'd better not have any bad intentions towards Miss Jones. Otherwise, I'll tell Grandpa everything when we get back."

"Seriously, cousin? Are you still running to Grandpa with every little thing? How annoying," Leticia retorted with disdain.

Hassan looked at her coldly and continued, "Just remember what I said."

Leticia snorted and turned away from him, focusing her attention on Deanna in the fitting room.

A few minutes later, Deanna emerged from the fitting room wearing the dress.

Her appearance instantly captivated everyone around her.

There was no denying that the silk dress suited Deanna perfectly.

The fitted design highlighted her slender figure beautifully, and her exquisite features made it impossible to look away.

Hassan was momentarily stunned.

With a smile on his lips, he stepped forward and praised her generously. "This dress really suits you. You look stunning."

"Thank you," Deanna replied with a gentle smile.

After all, no woman dislikes being complimented on her looks.

However, Leticia's eyes were filled with barely concealed jealousy as she watched Deanna steal the spotlight.

But then she remembered her plan and approached with feigned kindness. "I told you this dress would suit Dr. Deanna."

She circled around Deanna and suddenly pointed to a spot on the back of the dress. "Oh no, there's a snag here."

Deanna quickly turned to look and indeed found a snag. Her delicate brows furrowed immediately.

The store clerk also looked nervous and hurriedly explained, "We inspect every piece of clothing before displaying it. There shouldn't be any issues."

In other words, it wasn't a quality problem on their part.

Deanna understood but said nothing.

Leticia then asked the clerk about the price of the dress. "How much is this dress?"

"This is one of our new arrivals for this season. Due to its special material made from golden silkworm silk, it costs $1. 85 million," the clerk replied truthfully.

Leticia showed no reaction to the price. For someone of her status, spending millions on a dress was normal.

Feigning friendliness, she turned to Deanna and asked, "Dr. Deanna, this dress costs $1. 85 million. Can you afford it? If not, I can help you pay for it, but I have two small conditions."
