Deanna didn't go far; she stood on the balcony in the corridor, gently patting her flushed cheeks, trying to calm herself down.
"It was just an accident, don't overthink it, don't mind it," she told herself, but her heart still raced uncontrollably.
It took her quite a while to calm down before she turned back to the hospital room.
As soon as she reached the door, she saw Braylon coming out, regret flashing in his eyes.
Had she known Braylon was there, she would have returned later.
Just as she prepared to be entangled, Braylon didn't mention the apprenticeship again. Instead, he advised, "Deanna, it's good you're back. Please talk to Lance. His wound hasn't fully healed yet, but he's already thinking about washing up. The wound that had barely healed is torn open again."
Hearing this, Deanna suddenly felt guilty.
She remembered that when she almost fell earlier, it was Lance who caught her in time.
At that moment, she seemed to hear Lance's muffled grunt, but she forgot about it because of the kiss...
"I understand. I'll keep an eye on him," Deanna nodded awkwardly.
After saying goodbye to Braylon, she turned and entered the hospital room.
As soon as she walked in, Lance and the two little ones on the bed all looked at her.
"Why are you all looking at me?" Deanna felt uncomfortable being stared at and coughed lightly.
The two little ones exchanged mischievous glances and asked cheekily, "Mommy, where did you go just now?"
Seeing their expressions, Deanna knew what they meant and glared at them in embarrassment.
"Adult matters, kids shouldn't ask."
Then, Deanna looked at Lance with a worried expression, "When I came back just now, I ran into Dr. Cohen. He said your wound has opened up again. Are you okay?"
As for what happened earlier, she had already decided not to think about it.
Lance noticed her avoidance and said softly, "I'm fine. You don't need to worry."
For the rest of the day, Deanna and the two little ones stayed in the hospital room with Lance.
They chatted and laughed like a family, creating a warm and harmonious scene.
In the evening, after helping Lance eat and applying his medication, Deanna took the two little ones back to the villa.
After all, Samantha was returning to the country tomorrow, and Deanna had promised Lance to see her off.
When they got back, Samantha was sitting in the living room watching TV.
Hearing the noise at the door, she turned her head and saw Deanna and her children. She greeted them warmly, "You're back. Have you had dinner?"
"We've had dinner. Has Grannie eaten?" The two little ones ran over to Samantha's side.
Samantha hugged them with a kind smile, "Grannie has eaten too."
Seeing this, Deanna smiled and walked over to sit on the sofa next to them.
"I heard from Mr. Mercer that you're returning to the country tomorrow. Have you packed your luggage?"
"Almost."
Samantha responded and then looked at Deanna with a complicated expression, "This time, our Mercer family owes you a favor. As long as it's within our family's capabilities, you can ask for any condition."
Hearing this, Deanna couldn't help but feel a bit bitter.
Mrs. Mercer's words sounded like gratitude but were actually meant to distance her from Lance.
She lowered her eyes and smiled faintly, "Mrs. Mercer is too kind. Treating Mr. Mercer is my duty and my wish."
With these words, Samantha's smile faded significantly.
The two little ones listened to the adults' conversation and felt something was off.
"Grannie, Mommy, what are you talking about?"
"Nothing."
"Grannie is thanking your mommy for saving your Uncle Lance," Deanna and Samantha said in unison.
The two little ones didn't think much of it and smiled brightly at Samantha, "Grannie is too polite."
Samantha ruffled their hair with a smile but said nothing more.
Deanna also breathed a sigh of relief.
Meanwhile, in the hospital room.
Xavier reported seriously, "The attacker has been interrogated. His name is Lone Wolf; he's a member of an international assassin organization. Someone placed a hit order within their organization to assassinate you."
"Is it Alonso?" Lance asked with a cold expression.
Xavier shook his head, "We don't know. Lone Wolf said that only their leader knows the client's information."
Hearing this, Lance's eyes narrowed dangerously.
This time, he almost lost his life here, and Deanna almost died because of him...
"Give the order to eliminate that assassin organization. Also, it's time to close the net on Explority Group."
"Yes!"
Xavier nodded and left.
That night, in a small country, a severe firefight broke out.
If Lone Wolf were there, he would have recognized that the attacked location was his organization's headquarters.
