Chapter 409: Lance and I Are Not That Close

As soon as he entered, Braylon saw Deanna, and his eyes lit up.

"Deanna, you asked me to read about acupoints yesterday. I searched online and found some information, but there are many things I don't understand. Could you explain them to me?"

He spoke politely but didn't give Deanna a chance to refuse. He pulled out a notebook and pen and started asking his questions.

Deanna felt overwhelmed but couldn't refuse someone eager to learn.

"Welcome Fragrance and Kongzui are said to be the best acupoints for stopping nosebleeds, but Kongzui is so far from the nose. How does it control nosebleeds? What's the principle behind it?"

"And this Extreme Spring, does it really work like a quick-acting heart pill?"

"And this Yingacupoint, how does it quickly lower blood pressure?"

In no time, the room was filled with Braylon's bizarre questions.

Deanna was often left speechless.

Even though they were both doctors, she felt like she was explaining things to a layperson.

Was the gap between Western medicine and traditional medicine really this wide?

By midday, Deanna had had enough.

"It's noon, I need to prepare medicinal cuisine."

Deanna decided to find an excuse to leave.

Unexpectedly, Braylon didn't catch on to her intention to escape. He perked up, "Medicinal cuisine? I'll come too. I can help you."

"No, I don't need your help. Just staying away would be the biggest help!"

Leaving these words behind, Deanna left the room without looking back, her hurried steps making it seem like someone was chasing her.

Braylon quickly followed, "Deanna, don't run. I still have many questions."

As they left, the room fell silent.

Chloe and Lance exchanged glances and couldn't help but sigh.

Chloe wrinkled her nose and whispered to her brother, "That uncle talks too much. Mom ran away because of him."

Lance had also overheard some of it and felt both amused and annoyed.

Because of Braylon, he hadn't had a chance to talk to Deanna all morning.

He decided to have a word with his friend later.

Being eager to learn was fine, but not to the point of being clingy.

Meanwhile, Braylon was unaware that his learning journey was about to end.

He followed Deanna to the hospital kitchen and saw her handling herbs, his eyes lighting up.

He had seen his friend recover day by day by eating these medicinal dishes.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that these medicinal cuisines worked better than their Western medicine, without any side effects.

"Deanna, are these the ingredients for the medicinal cuisine? How should they be prepared?"

He looked eager to help.

Deanna felt her head throb but decided not to let him idle around.

She feared he'd start asking more strange questions if he had nothing to do.

"Yes, these are the herbs we'll use. Wash them and then grind them into powder using the mortar over there."

"Got it." Braylon nodded and started working as instructed.

Deanna sighed in relief, thinking she could finally have some peace.

But soon, Braylon's voice rang in her ears again.

"Deanna, won't you consider taking me as your apprentice? If you do, I can handle all these chores for you."

Braylon tirelessly listed the benefits of taking him as an apprentice.

Deanna finally couldn't take it anymore.

"Dr. Cohen!" she suddenly shouted.

Braylon paused, confused, "What's wrong?"

" don't take apprentices because I haven't even completed my own training yet. Stop pestering me; it's useless."

But Braylon didn't believe her.

Deanna's skills also made it hard to believe she hadn't completed her training.

"You're so skilled; how could you not have completed your training?"

Deanna realized she couldn't communicate with him at all.

She decided to give up, "I really haven't completed my training. Believe it or not, I won't take you as an apprentice!"

With that, she turned back to preparing the medicinal cuisine.

Braylon felt disheartened but remained enthusiastic.

His persistence stemmed from a childhood dream inspired by TV dramas about ancient miracle doctors. He had wanted to become one himself.

As he grew older, he realized traditional medicine wasn't as magical as portrayed on TV and switched to studying Western medicine.
