Alonso's words had to be said, they made Bella's heart flutter. But she knew very well that whether it was their Cody family and Valencia family joining forces, or even a few more families teaming up against the Mercer family, it would be useless. The Mercer family had stood tall in Cloudmere for a century, with abundant funds, so wealthy that it could rival nations, not to mention their domestic and international connections. Over the years, many had tried to target the Mercer family, but those people ended up as examples of the Mercer's power.
"Alonso, I think you've had too much to drink. You've always been Lance's defeated opponent. Do you really think you can overthrow Lance and the Mercer family? Dream on," Bella sneered. Without waiting for Alonso to respond, she continued, "If you want to die, don't drag me into it." With that, Bella hung up the phone.
After putting down her phone, she felt a sudden urge and called Lance. Unfortunately, Lance did not answer her call. This made Bella extremely frustrated. She hung up and put down her phone, gritting her teeth, "Am I really that annoying to you?" She had originally planned to tell Lance this news to show her worth, but now she decided against it. Even though Lance might not need it, she didn't want to offer herself up.
Lance was unaware of what was happening on Bella's side. Under Deanna and Braylon's care, his body gradually recovered and he could barely get out of bed. Seeing this, Samantha finally felt relieved. That day, she brought the two little ones to visit Lance in the hospital. Lance mentioned her return.
"I'm fine now. Tomorrow I'll arrange for someone to send you back."
"What, am I an eyesore here?" Samantha raised an eyebrow and looked at him with some displeasure. The two little ones noticed the tension and quickly spoke up for Samantha, "Uncle, can Grannie stay?"
Hearing this, Lance was a bit surprised. He hadn't expected the two little ones to speak up for Samantha. Samantha also showed a bright smile. They were indeed her grandchildren; she hadn't spoiled them in vain.
"I'm not sending you Grannie away; it's just that your Grannie has been away from home for so long, your Gramp must be missing her," Lance coaxed the two little ones. Mainly, he wanted more time alone with Deanna. These past few days, every time he was alone with Deanna, his mother would inconveniently interrupt. Of course, he understood his mother's intentions, hence this situation.
The two little ones didn't know this and thought about Gramp being lonely at home as Lance said, so they didn't argue anymore. Samantha was somewhat annoyed by this. She wasn't mad at the two little ones but at her son. Truly, he had forgotten how to be nice to his mother after having a crush.
"Your father has been busy with handling the Valencia family lately; he doesn't have time to miss me." Despite saying this, she didn't insist on staying. After all, she had been away for many days and her son was fine now. She was somewhat worried about his husband. Especially since all the company matters were left to him during this time; she worried he might not take good care of himself when busy.
The more Samantha thought about it, the more restless she became. Soon after, she went back to pack her luggage. When Deanna returned with the medicine, she only saw the two little ones with Lance and couldn't help but ask, "Where is Mrs. Mercer?"
"Mother went back to pack her luggage; she's planning to return home tomorrow since she's worried about Father being alone," Lance replied calmly. The two little ones looked at him in surprise. Clearly, it was Uncle Lance who wanted Grannie to go back; how did it become Grannie wanting to go back?
Lance noticed their looks and winked at them. The two little ones immediately understood and covered their mouths with a smile. Unfortunately, Deanna was putting down the medicine and missed their interaction.
"In that case, I'll see Mrs. Mercer off tomorrow before coming back to see you," she said, turning around only to find herself locking eyes with Lance's deep gaze. His eyes were so profound that they made Deanna feel uneasy. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Nothing, just thanking Dr. Deanna in advance," Lance replied with a pleased tone as he looked away. He felt that Deanna was becoming more like his girlfriend, though she remained unaware of it.
In fact, Deanna hadn't noticed at all. She thought it was a small matter and took it as an excuse to get some peace and quiet. The reason being that ever since she cured Lance, Braylon had been pestering her relentlessly to become his mentor.
If it were just a normal discussion about medical skills, Deanna wouldn't be so troubled. The problem was that Braylon wasn't satisfied with just discussing medical skills; he wanted to learn her master's acupuncture techniques, which she couldn't teach him. Not only had she not fully mastered acupuncture herself, but even if she had, without her master's permission, she wouldn't dare teach it to others.
After finishing his work, Braylon once again came to the hospital room.
