Chapter 398: Deanna's Disappearance

"I knew I forgot something, and it turns out it was this."

Before Samantha could ask, Bella leaned in and whispered, "Samantha, while I was out shopping today, Alonso contacted me again. He knows I didn't follow his instructions and angrily hung up. I think he might try another way to deal with Lance. We can proceed with our plan."

Upon hearing this, Samantha's face turned serious. She called the head of security to start setting up a trap.

That evening, Deanna was informed and agreed to cooperate. For the safety of the children, she forbade them from visiting Lance at the hospital. Although the children were a bit unhappy, they obediently agreed to stay home.

The next day, Deanna had breakfast and went to the hospital to treat Lance as usual. She stood by the elevator in the inpatient department, waiting for it to come down. A tall janitor pushing a cleaning cart approached. Deanna paid no attention.

When the elevator arrived with a ding, Deanna let the janitor enter first before stepping in herself. She had her back to the janitor and didn't notice the dangerous look in his eyes.

As the elevator ascended, the janitor glanced at the security camera and then pulled out a cloth, reaching towards Deanna. She only had time to struggle briefly before losing consciousness.

A few minutes later, the elevator doors opened, and the janitor pushed the cleaning cart out, only to be stunned by what he saw. The hallway was filled with imposing bodyguards, each one tall and intimidating.

"What are you doing here?" a bodyguard at the elevator door questioned.

The janitor swallowed nervously and replied timidly, "I'm here to clean. Do you need any cleaning services?"

"No, unauthorized personnel are not allowed here. Leave immediately!" the bodyguard commanded sternly.

The janitor nodded repeatedly and pushed the cart back into the elevator.

Half an hour later, Braylon walked out of the hospital room with a frown. He checked his watch and then looked at the elevator at the end of the corridor, mumbling to himself, "Why isn't she here yet? Could there be traffic?"

He returned to the room and waited another half hour but still saw no sign of Deanna. Unable to wait any longer, he took out his phone and called her.

"Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently switched off."

Upon hearing the mechanical voice from his phone, Braylon's frown deepened with a sense of foreboding. Remembering what Samantha had told him yesterday, he quickly made another call.

"Braylon, what's wrong?" Samantha's puzzled voice came through.

Braylon asked anxiously, "Aunt Samantha, did Dr. Deanna come to the hospital?"

Samantha instinctively replied, "She left for the hospital an hour and a half ago. Why? Hasn't she arrived yet?"

"No," Braylon responded gravely. "Samantha, I'm worried about Dr. Deanna. If those people can't get to Lance, they might target her."

This realization struck Samantha like a bolt of lightning. Braylon's concern was not unfounded. She panicked; she couldn't let anything happen to Deanna. Without her, no one could save her son, and her grandchildren would lose their mother.

"I'll arrange for people to search immediately. You stay at the hospital and check the surveillance footage!"

"Got it," Braylon said before hanging up and instructing his men to investigate the hospital's surveillance cameras.

Samantha called for her driver and asked, "Did you personally see Dr. Deanna enter the hospital this morning?"

"Yes, I saw her go in before I left. Is something wrong?" The driver asked cautiously.

Samantha's face darkened as she explained, "Dr. Deanna disappeared after entering the hospital. You..."

She was about to instruct the driver to prepare the car when two anxious voices interrupted her.

"Grannie, is it true? Did our mommy disappear?"

Chloe and Gregory looked at her with tear-filled eyes, on the verge of breaking down.

Seeing their worried faces, Samantha felt a pang of regret. How could she forget they were still at home? As she hesitated between telling them the truth or lying, they ran over hurriedly.

Gregory looked at her seriously and said, "Grannie, we heard everything. Don't think you can fool us because we're young. Did something really happen to our mommy?"

Faced with their concerned expressions, Samantha couldn't bring herself to lie anymore. She sighed and admitted, "Your mommy disappeared after entering the hospital."

### Chapter 399: Hand Over Alonso

As soon as these words fell, Chloe couldn't hold back any longer and began to cry out of fear.

"I don't want anything to happen to Mommy."

"Can Grannie find our Mommy?"

Gregory also struggled to control himself, looking over with red-rimmed eyes.

Mommy was in trouble, and he was the only man in the family. He couldn't panic, or his sister would be even more scared.

Samantha looked at the children trying to stay calm and felt an overwhelming heartache.

She promised, "I will definitely find your Mommy. You two wait at home for my good news."

Saying this, she turned and instructed the driver to prepare the car.

Seeing this, Gregory couldn't help but ask, "Grannie, can we go with you to find Mommy? We'll be very good."

"Chloe will be very good too. Grannie, please take us to find Mommy, okay?"

Chloe also looked over with tear-filled eyes.

She tried hard to sniffle, wanting to hold back her tears.

However, Samantha couldn't let the two children take such a risk.

She had someone fetch Bella and briefly explained the situation, "We miscalculated. Alonso didn't go after Lance but targeted Dr. Deanna. I need to go to the hospital to take charge. I can't look after the children right now, so I need you to take care of them for me."

"What? Dr. Deanna was kidnapped?"

Bella showed a shocked expression, then looked at the two little ones in front of her and assured, "Samantha, you go ahead and take charge. I will take care of things here, nothing will happen."

Though she said this, an idea suddenly occurred to her on how to get rid of these two bothersome children.

But the thought was quickly dismissed.

Samantha entrusted her with the care of the children. If she lost them, her ability would be questioned, affecting her chances to regain favor with the Mercer family.

Since Samantha left, the two children had been anxiously standing at the door, looking outside.

No matter how Bella tried to persuade them, they wouldn't go inside.

"Auntie Bella, if you're tired, go rest. We want to wait here for Mommy."

The two children resolutely rejected Bella's suggestion again.

Seeing this, Bella gritted her teeth in anger but had no choice but to stay with them.

Meanwhile, Samantha arrived at the hospital with a worried look.

She saw Braylon and Xavier and immediately asked, "How is it? Have you found her?"

"We haven't found Dr. Deanna, but we've identified a suspect."

Braylon spoke with a heavy expression.

It turned out that they had reviewed the surveillance footage of Deanna entering the hospital from the beginning. However, when they checked the elevator footage, they found it missing. So, they suspected the janitor who had entered the wrong floor.

The biggest suspicion was that Deanna and the janitor entered the elevator together, but when the elevator doors opened later, only the janitor was there, which was highly suspicious.

After hearing this, Samantha's face was beyond grim.

"Find out who this janitor is, and call the police. Tell them they must find her today!"

She was worried about Deanna's safety and even more concerned about delaying her son's treatment.

Braylon and Xavier didn't dare to waste any time and went off to handle their tasks.

Samantha didn't stay idle either. She took out her phone to contact her husband.

Since this was Alonso's scheme, he must know where Deanna was!

Even if she had to use force, she would make Alonso reveal Deanna's whereabouts!

In fact, Logan was very supportive of his wife's approach upon learning about the situation in New York.

After hanging up, he immediately took people to the Valencia family.

"Sir, you can't go in. You can't go in."

The Valencia family servants tried to stop Logan and his men but were pushed aside.

Soon, Logan led his people into the living room, but the person he wanted to see wasn't there.

"Go call Chace Valencia out here, or I'll smash this place up!"

Logan spoke with barely contained anger.

Seeing he wasn't joking, the servants hurried upstairs.

Chace came out of his study after receiving the news and saw Logan standing in the living room with a group of tough bodyguards, his face immediately darkening.

"Logan, what do you mean by bringing so many people into my house?"

"I should be asking you this. The Mercer family has no grievances with the Valencia family, but you keep hiring people to harm my heir. Do you think the Mercer family has no temper?"

Logan confronted Chace with a powerful presence.

Chace immediately frowned, "What nonsense are you talking about? When did I ever try to harm your son?"

"You didn't, but your son did. Hand over Alonso!"

Logan didn't want to waste words with Chace.

Every minute wasted delayed his son's treatment, which he couldn't afford.

Chace was stunned.

He looked at Logan with deep eyes, believing what Logan said.

Because he understood Logan's character, he would never make baseless accusations.

Moreover, given his son's personality, it wasn't impossible for him to do such things.

Even so, he wouldn't hand Alonso over.
