Chapter 389: If You Think You Can, Then Do It

For a moment, Deanna seemed to have angered everyone present, as the doctors began to criticize her.

"A few needles and some herbal concoction can't possibly cure anything. It's pure nonsense."

"If something goes wrong, who will take responsibility?"

"Exactly, it's a complete waste of our time."

Hearing these constant criticisms, Deanna, despite her understanding nature, couldn't help but get angry. These people had time to criticize her methods but didn't think to come up with an antidote themselves.

"Enough!" she shouted, her once gentle eyes now sharp and piercing.

She scanned each doctor with a fierce gaze and said in a somewhat harsh tone, "Since you are so dissatisfied with my treatment plan, then if you think you can do better, go ahead!"

Almost immediately, the previously vocal doctors fell silent as if someone had grabbed them by the throat.

Perhaps it was because she had spent so much time with Lance, but Deanna now exuded an oppressive aura. Those who met her gaze couldn't help but tense up.

Braylon, seeing this, whispered to Xavier, "Lance's wife seems to have quite a temper. Can Lance handle it?"

"Dr. Deanna has a good temper, but if some people insist on making things difficult for themselves, they can't blame others for having a bad temper," Xavier replied disdainfully.

He then stepped forward to support Deanna, saying, "Everyone, I understand that you are here out of concern for the patient. However, since none of you have a solution to treat Mr. Mercer, I support Dr. Deanna's treatment plan. I promise that if any accidents occur, your hospital doesn't have to take any responsibility."

With that assurance, the other doctors naturally stopped opposing her. Only Braylon remained skeptical of Deanna. What surprised him the most was Xavier's trust in her.

"Are you really going to entrust your boss' life to her?"

"I believe Dr. Deanna can do it. Besides, we both know that if we miss this chance, Mr. Mercer's survival is uncertain," Xavier said, his expression turning worried.

Their conversation did not escape Deanna's notice. She pursed her lips and looked at the unconscious Lance on the bed, vowing to find a way to save him.

Seeing that the others in the room had no intention of leaving, she issued an order, "Since it's decided that I will treat him, those who are not involved should leave. I need to prepare for the first treatment."

With that, she ignored the doctors' displeased expressions and turned to open her medical kit. She took out a roll of silk cloth and slowly unwrapped it.

In the next moment, needles of varying lengths and thicknesses glinted in the sunlight.

These were golden needles left by Deanna's mentor and this was the first time she was using them since she began practicing medicine. She was actually quite nervous and afraid of making a mistake.

Braylon's eyes changed when he saw the golden needles. Although he wasn't very familiar with traditional medicine, he knew that golden needles were rarely used by ordinary herbalist doctors unless they were true masters. Golden needles were soft and could easily break if not handled with enough skill, making treatment even more complicated.

"Dr. Deanna, I see you're alone. How about I stay and assist you so you can focus more on the treatment?" Braylon offered, partly wanting to see how skilled she really was.

Deanna misunderstood his offer as distrust but agreed despite her displeasure. She didn't hesitate to assign him tasks while she took the prepared herbs to the hospital kitchen for brewing.

Unbeknownst to them, during their preparations, Cloudmere's business circle was once again in turmoil.

"Breaking News! Mercer Group heir Lance was attacked abroad and is critically injured!"

Below the news article were photos obtained by reporters showing Lance fighting off assailants and being taken away by an ambulance covered in blood.

The moment this news broke, Mercer Group was affected. Numerous partner companies called to inquire about the situation, and Mercer Group's stock prices fluctuated.

Logan immediately contacted his son upon hearing the news. Unfortunately, it was Xavier who answered the call instead of Lance.

"Chairman, what can I do for you?" Xavier asked, unaware that the situation had already been leaked back home and still following Lance's instructions to keep it under wraps.

Logan demanded, "Where is Lance? Put him on the phone."
