Chapter 387: Mommy is Very Capable

Braylon's voice was not loud, but it was audible to everyone present.

Xavier frowned slightly, feeling displeased.

Just as he was about to defend Deanna, someone else beat him to it.

"Our mommy is very capable."

"She will definitely find a way to cure Uncle Lance."

The two little ones glared at Braylon with shared hostility.

Braylon's expression turned somewhat awkward, but he quickly realized something was off.

Uncle?

"They're not Lance's children?"

Braylon looked at Xavier in astonishment.

It wasn't surprising he was so shocked; the two little ones did resemble Lance, especially around the eyes.

However, Xavier had no intention of explaining further. He said in a deep voice, "Dr. Cohen, this is Mr. Mercer's private matter. If you want to know more, you can ask Mr. Mercer when he wakes up. For now, please remain quiet and do not disturb Dr. Deanna's treatment."

Seeing Xavier's serious expression, Braylon wanted to say something but held back.

At the same time, he had little hope for Deanna's medical skills.

After all, traditional medicine was something he had never encountered, but he knew it required at least ten to twenty years of experience to master.

Deanna didn't know what Braylon was thinking. After a few minutes of taking Lance's pulse, she checked his eyelids and lips. She had a clear understanding of his condition.

Lance's situation was indeed more severe than she had imagined, but it was not hopeless.

"Dr. Deanna, how is Mr. Mercer? Can he be saved?" Xavier asked anxiously as he saw Deanna withdraw her hand.

Deanna glanced at him and said honestly, "He can be saved, but I need to consult with Old Hughes."

It wasn't that Deanna lacked confidence in her skills; she needed to ensure there was no room for error because Lance's condition couldn't withstand any failure.

Xavier noticed her caution but couldn't help feeling worried.

"How long will the consultation take?"

"Not too long. I already have a preliminary treatment plan, but I need to carefully consider the prescription," Deanna replied truthfully.

However, Braylon found her words unbelievable. "Don't mess around. Lance can't afford any mishaps!"

"I know, and that's exactly why I haven't started the treatment immediately."

Deanna then turned to Xavier and said seriously, "Please take me back. I need to prepare some herbs and finalize the treatment plan by tonight."

Xavier didn't hesitate and arranged for someone to escort Deanna back to the villa.

Before that, Braylon, concerned for his friend's life, made a request to Deanna.

"If you insist on treating Lance, you must convince us with your treatment plan; otherwise, I can't entrust my patient to you."

It was clear he doubted Deanna's medical skills.

Deanna understood his concern but felt annoyed by the repeated questioning.

Xavier hadn't expected Mr. Mercer's friend to be so stubborn.

He frowned and tried to mediate, "The priority now is to treat Mr. Mercer. Dr. Cohen, I hope you can set aside your bias. Dr. Deanna is highly praised by Old Hughes as a miracle doctor. If you don't trust Dr. Deanna, surely you trust Old Hughes' judgment."

Braylon remained unconvinced, thinking Xavier was just trying to smooth things over.

He stood firm in his demand. "I insist on my requirement."

Deanna rolled her eyes and left without arguing further.

She preferred to spend her time working on the prescription rather than arguing.

Back at the villa, Deanna immediately took out her prescription pad and wrote down her initial treatment plan before contacting Old Hughes for a consultation.

During this time, the two little ones stayed quietly by her side.

Old Hughes was surprised to receive Deanna's call so early.

"Anna, what brings you to call me so early?"

"Old Hughes, I have a prescription I want to discuss with you."

Deanna didn't mention Lance's situation as she wasn't sure if it was confidential.

Old Hughes didn't think much of it and asked Deanna to share the prescription details.

"I have a patient here who has been poisoned by an unknown toxin that damages major organs and has an old ailment. Any slight mistake could lead to organ failure and sudden death."

Deanna described the symptoms and her proposed treatment plan without revealing Lance's identity. "I plan to use acupuncture in three sessions to expel the toxin, followed by herbal soup to nourish the organs and a medicinal bath to cleanse residual toxins."

"This approach is sound, but since you mentioned the toxin is potent, you need to be cautious with the initial acupuncture and prescription," Old Hughes advised.

Deanna listened attentively.

They then discussed the prescription in detail. Deanna mostly listened as she lacked experience with such complex cases despite studying her master's notes diligently.
