After a day's rest, Deanna still had a slight fever.
To prevent her condition from worsening, Lance decided they would stay for another two days.
He also asked Xavier to buy some local toys from the old town for the two little ones.
The two little ones were very happy to receive the toys, but soon restrained themselves.
"Uncle, even if you give us toys, we can't forgive you unless you promise not to lose your temper with Mommy again."
Chloe looked at Lance with a mischievous glint in her eye.
Gregory didn't say anything, but his expression showed his attitude.
Deanna didn't expect her daughter to say such a thing, and after a moment of daze, she felt embarrassed.
"Chloe, what are you talking about?"
She glared at her daughter in embarrassment and then apologized to Lance, "Mr. Mercer, children speak without thinking, please don't mind."
But Lance looked back deeply. "What if I do mind?"
Deanna fell silent, not knowing what to say.
Lance continued, "Like I said the day before, it was my bad attitude that day, and I acted impulsively. I apologize to you."
The two little ones' eyes lit up instantly upon hearing this and turned to look at their mommy.
Their gaze seemed to say, "Mommy, please forgive Uncle."
Deanna felt amused but couldn't help feeling joyful inside.
"The past is the past, Mr. Mercer. There's no need to dwell on it," she responded with a smile.
Lance nodded and turned to the two little ones, smiling gently. "Your mommy has forgiven me. What about you?"
"We forgive Uncle too," Chloe said sweetly to Lance.
Soon after, Julia came back from outside and learned that her friend and the two little ones had been appeased by Lance.
She looked at her friend with some exasperation. "You are too soft-hearted. And you two, just a little sweet talk, and you're all won over," she said the last part to the two little ones.
The two little ones protested, "No, we forgave Uncle because he promised not to lose his temper with Mommy again."
"Uncle said he wouldn't lose his temper with Mommy anymore."
Hearing this, Julia had nothing more to say but felt quite satisfied inside.
Then she turned to her friend curiously. "Since you've reconciled, what's your relationship now? Are you boyfriend and girlfriend?"
"Julia--" Deanna looked over, embarrassed and annoyed.
Julia, seeing this, understood and made a face. "Okay, I get it. You're not quite lovers, just friends."
The next day, Deanna stayed at the inn all day and didn't go anywhere.
The two little ones stayed in the room with her, but they seemed a bit bored.
In the evening, the sound of firecrackers came from outside the window, sounding very lively.
The two little ones leaned over to the window and exclaimed in surprise.
"Wow, Mommy, there are so many people outside."
"Where are they going?" Chloe asked curiously from the window.
Julia knew a bit about it and explained, "I heard there's an event in the old town this evening."
"What event?"
The two little ones looked over curiously.
Deanna was also somewhat interested.
Julia didn't keep them in suspense and smiled, "It's said to be a traditional event of this town, starting at eight tonight. Later, I will take you all to see it."
"I want to go too," Deanna expressed her desire to join in.
She had been cooped up in the inn for two days and had had enough.
However, just as she said this, Lance, who was coming in, heard it.
Lance looked over at Deanna and asked, "Where do you want to go?"
"Julia said there's an event in town tonight, and I want to check it out," Deanna replied honestly, only to be rejected.
Lance frowned slightly and disagreed, "No, the doctor said you shouldn't be exposed to the wind for the next two days."
"But I feel fine now. Don't forget, I'm a doctor myself." Deanna tried to argue.
But Lance still disagreed, though he suggested a compromise, "How about this, I'll have Xavier go with them and livestream it for you."
He gave Xavier a meaningful look as he spoke.
Xavier understood and assured, "Don't worry, Dr. Deanna. I will livestream everything for you and take good care of Miss King, Miss Chloe, and Master Gregory."
Hearing this, Deanna knew it was impossible for her to go out and pouted in frustration.
Lance found her lively demeanor quite endearing.
"If you like it here, we can come back again. There are unique events every year."
"Got it," Deanna responded listlessly.
Lance chuckled, "Don't worry, I'll stay here with you."
Julia immediately cried out in mock alarm.
"Oh, staying with you, how sweet."
"Julia!" Deanna's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she glared at her friend.
Julia chuckled and hurriedly left with the two little ones.
Before leaving, she teased Deanna again, "We're off to have fun. You and Mr. Mercer can bond."
