Deanna heard the commotion outside and her face changed suddenly. She immediately ran out.
"Grandma-"
She saw her grandmother had fallen to the ground and hurriedly rushed over to help her up.
At that moment, her gaze inadvertently met Bella's in the elevator.
Bella smiled smugly at her, her eyes filled with malice.
Deanna exploded with anger and shouted, "Bella, you've gone too far!"
Unfortunately, as soon as she finished speaking, the elevator doors closed.
Deanna gritted her teeth, vowing to remember this incident.
Old Ashley, hearing her words, looked up and asked, "Do you know that girl?"
"Not really."
Deanna pursed her lips and replied, then carefully examined her grandmother, asking with concern, "Are you alright? Do you feel any discomfort?"
"I'm fine, don't worry."
Old Ashley waved her hand dismissively and continued to inquire about Bella, "What happened just now?"
Deanna didn't want to discuss it outside. She helped Old Ashley into the room before slowly explaining what had happened with Bella.
After hearing the story, Old Ashley was not surprised but very angry. "Such a person cannot be forgiven. She's truly wicked!"
"I know. I don't plan to let this go."
Deanna nodded, making her stance clear.
Previously, she didn't know who was causing trouble behind her back. Now that she knew, she wouldn't let it slide.
Moreover, Bella had maliciously targeted her grandmother.
Thinking of this, Deanna still felt uneasy and decided to give her grandmother a check-up.
After all, her grandmother was getting on in years, and she had to be careful about any bumps or bruises.
Seeing this, Old Ashley couldn't help but laugh, "I told you I'm fine. Why don't you believe me?"
"Of course I believe you, Grandma. It's just that you're my only family left. I don't want to lose you, so I have to be cautious. I hope you can stay with me for a long time."
Deanna said this as she linked arms with her grandmother and rested her head on her shoulder.
Old Ashley understood her attachment and smiled gently, patting her hand.
The two of them sat on the sofa for a while before parting to attend to their own tasks.
Deanna was sorting through herbs but couldn't stop thinking about Bella's visit. She suddenly realized she hadn't thanked Lance yet.
She quickly picked up her phone and sent Lance a message.
"Bella just came by. Thank you for everything you've done; otherwise, I wouldn't have known she was the culprit."
Almost immediately after sending the message, Lance called her.
His deep, magnetic voice came through the phone, "Bella came to see you?"
"Yes, she just left. Thank you again," Deanna expressed her gratitude.
Lance replied indifferently, "You don't need to thank me. If anything, it's my fault for involving you and causing this trouble."
"It does seem that way," Deanna said somewhat helplessly.
Sensing something off in her tone, Lance changed the subject and asked, "What do you plan to do about this? Will you forgive her?"
"No, I won't forgive her. Bella is rotten to the core; she has no humanity!" Deanna said firmly.
Hearing this, Lance sensed something was wrong and immediately asked, "Did she say something offensive?"
"It doesn't matter what she said to me, but she crossed the line by taking out her anger on my grandmother!"
Deanna didn't hold back and recounted what had happened in the hallway. "My grandmother is almost eighty years old, and Bella deliberately knocked her down. Did she ever think about what could have happened if my grandmother had hit her head?"
Listening to Deanna's angry voice over the phone, Lance's expression darkened as well.
He hadn't expected Bella to be so bold despite his warnings.
"Alright then. If you don't want to forgive her, we'll pursue this matter to the end. And we'll also hold her accountable for what happened to your grandmother."
"Thank you..."
Deanna didn't know what else to say and could only express her gratitude.
On the other side, Bella was unaware of the storm brewing against her.
She left Deanna's apartment with a livid expression.
In her mind, Deanna's confidence came solely from Lance's support.
The thought made her seethe with jealousy.
"Damn bitch! Why does she deserve it?"
Bella fumed in the car.
She looked at Deanna's apartment building through the window, her eyes filled with cold malice.
She wouldn't let this go easily.
Later that evening, Bella returned home with a sour expression.
Kelly noticed from the living room and asked with concern, "What's wrong? You look upset. Did someone offend you?"
At her mother's words, Bella's turbulent emotions surged again.
Finally, she couldn't hold back and started complaining about being accused by Lance.
