The next morning, Bella arrived at Deanna's apartment complex.
Deanna was unaware and was tidying up her home.
At that moment, she heard the doorbell ring, thinking it was her grandmother returning. Without a second thought, she went to open the door.
Before she could call out "Grandma," Deanna realized the person at the door wasn't her grandmother but Bella, whom she had met a few times. She opened her mouth in surprise, "Miss Cody?"
"It seems Miss Jones remembers me."
Without waiting for an invitation, Bella walked past Deanna and entered the apartment.
Once inside, she looked around and noticed that although the apartment wasn't lavishly decorated, it exuded warmth.
Deanna frowned slightly and walked over, asking coldly, "Miss Cody, what brings you here?"
Hearing this, Bella withdrew her gaze and looked at Deanna with a mocking expression.
"Alright, Lance isn't here. Stop pretending to be innocent. Do you really not know why I'm here?"
"I truly don't know," Deanna replied coldly.
Bella narrowed her eyes and scrutinized the woman in front of her.
Although Deanna's expression seemed genuinely clueless, Bella still didn't believe her.
Raising her chin in a superior manner, Bella said, "Don't think that my coming here to apologize means I've lost to you. I'm only here because of Lance."
Deanna was utterly confused by what Bella was saying. Apologize? For what?
Seeing her confusion, Bella clarified.
"Don't get too smug. This time, you only managed to turn things around and even accuse me because Lance helped you gather evidence. Otherwise, according to my plan, you would have been ruined and implicated in a life-and-death matter!"
Bella's eyes were full of resentment and jealousy as she spoke.
She had almost succeeded in driving this woman away.
At this moment, Deanna finally understood why Bella had come. Her face turned cold.
So, the previous medical incident was orchestrated by this woman.
Simultaneously, Deanna felt deeply moved.
She hadn't realized that Lance had done so much for her behind her back.
Bella's arrogant voice interrupted her thoughts again.
"Now that I've apologized, take back the lawyer's letter."
As she spoke, Bella took out the lawyer's letter that Lance had given her yesterday from her bag.
Seeing this, Deanna laughed in anger. "Is this your idea of an apology? I really don't see it."
"When I say it's an apology, it's an apology."
Bella raised her eyebrows arrogantly.
Deanna found her attitude extremely irritating and retorted immediately, "I don't know where you get your sense of superiority from. Just because you're a rich lady doesn't mean you're superior to others."
"Deanna, what do you mean?"
Bella glared at her angrily and threatened, "I advise you to know when to stop. Otherwise, crushing you will be as easy as crushing an ant!"
"Sorry, I don't understand what 'knowing when to stop' means. Why don't you go ahead and crush me?"
Deanna sneered coldly.
Bella was momentarily stunned.
"You!"
She glared at Deanna but couldn't find the words to say.
Deanna noticed her hesitation and mocked her even more, "What's wrong? Nothing left to say?"
Bella was fuming inside.
She wanted to say something harsh but remembered Lance's warning and held back.
"In any case, I've apologized."
"Do I have to accept your apology?"
Deanna refused outright and sarcastically said, "Today has been an eye-opener for me. It's my first time seeing someone like you who harms others yet feels justified. If this is what being 'high-class' means, I'm truly worried for your kind."
Bella was infuriated by these words.
She glared at Deanna with hatred and gritted her teeth, "What will it take for you to take back the lawyer's letter?"
"Sorry, I have no intention of taking it back. I don't accept your apology either. Now please leave my home immediately!"
Deanna pointed to the door and unceremoniously asked Bella to leave.
Bella had never been so humiliated before. Her eyes burned with rage as if she wanted to skin Deanna alive.
She took several deep breaths to calm herself down and glared at Deanna. "Fine, I'll leave. But don't regret this!"
With that, she turned and slammed the door on her way out.
Unexpectedly, as she stepped out, she bumped into Old Ashley who was about to unlock the door.
Old Ashley was surprised to see an angry woman suddenly appear in front of her.
Recognizing Old Ashley, Bella's eyes darkened with anger. She forcefully shoved past her. "Get out of my way, you old hag!"
Old Ashley wasn't prepared for such an action and stumbled backward, falling to the ground!
