Chapter 289: Someone Framed Deanna

That night, in the underground entertainment club in the city center.

Guillermo was enjoying himself with his subordinates when a group of police officers burst in.

"Nobody move! Hands above your heads, face the wall and squat down!"

The leading officer shouted, weapon in hand.

Guillermo and his men were stunned and complied obediently.

The next day, after Lance arrived at the company, Xavier reported the news from the police.

"Last night, that loan shark gang was arrested. The police interrogated Guillermo, but he denied instigating Ricky to frame Dr. Deanna."

"Denied?" Lance murmured softly, his eyes cold.

He stood up and ordered, "Prepare the car. We're going to the police station."

Clearly, he intended to meet Guillermo personally.

At the police station, the authorities understood his purpose and allowed him to see Guillermo.

In the interrogation room, Lance looked down at Guillermo with a cold gaze.

Guillermo didn't know Lance's identity. He assumed he was an undercover cop, glanced at him, and then closed his eyes without speaking.

Lance squinted slightly and questioned, "Why did you incite Ricky to frame Deanna?"

Lance didn't mind, sat opposite him, and said slowly, "It doesn't matter if you don't speak. With what you've done, you'll be in prison for the next decade or so. But I wonder if your wife can wait for you until then."

Guillermo's face changed drastically at these words.

He glared at Lance viciously, "Did you disturb my wife?"

Lance's dark eyes were unreadable as he looked at Guillermo's furious expression.

"Not yet, but if you don't cooperate, who knows."

Guillermo stared at Lance for a long time.

Lance met his gaze.

It was like a standoff between them.

But eventually, Guillermo gave in first.

He slumped in his chair and confessed, "I did incite Ricky to frame Deanna."

"Why did you do it?" Lance pressed on.

Guillermo answered truthfully, "I was instructed by someone. They said if I helped with this, they would arrange for a renowned foreign doctor to treat my wife."

Hearing this, Lance frowned deeply.

He asked again, "Who is this person? How do you usually contact them?"

"I don't know who they are. We don't usually contact each other. They just send me emails when they need something done."

Guillermo confessed honestly again and then wrote down the email address for Lance.

A few minutes later, Lance left the interrogation room.

Xavier saw him and immediately approached with concern, "Mr. Mercer, did you get anything?"

Lance looked up and handed over the paper with the email address.

"Check this email. I want results within half an hour."

"Yes, sir!"

Xavier took the paper and immediately went to investigate.

In less than half an hour, he returned with the results and reported to Lance, "Mr. Mercer, this email is from abroad. The IP address can't be traced for now."

"Abroad?"

Lance frowned. He couldn't think of anyone Deanna had a grudge against overseas.

Since discovering that Chloe and Gregory were his children, he had thoroughly investigated Deanna.

In fact, he knew some things about her that even she had forgotten.

Of course, there might be something he missed.

With this in mind, Lance immediately had Xavier drive him to find Deanna.

Unexpectedly, when he arrived, he was greeted not by Deanna but by a somewhat haggard Old Ashley.

"Grandma, what happened? Is Dr. Deanna not home?"

Lance asked as he looked into the house.

Old Ashley shook her head gently and explained, "Deanna is home, but she's sick and resting inside."

"Sick? When did this happen? Why didn't anyone tell me?"

Lance's expression changed slightly, his tone carrying an urgency even he didn't notice.

Old Ashley noticed it and her gaze softened. "It happened the day before yesterday. She probably couldn't handle the stress from recent events. Once she relaxed, her body couldn't take it and she fell ill."

She invited Lance inside as she spoke.

Lance nodded and entered but couldn't stop thinking about Deanna.

"Grandma, may I see Dr. Deanna?"

"Go ahead. I'll get you some water."

Old Ashley didn't stop him and smiled as she let Lance go.

In the room, Deanna was unaware of Lance's arrival.

She was watching cartoons with the two little ones.

When Lance knocked and entered, he saw this scene and felt warmth from the sight of mother and children together.

Deanna was surprised by Lance's sudden appearance.

"Mr. Mercer, why are you here?"

She said as she struggled to get up.

Seeing this, Lance quickly stopped her, "You don't need to get up. Just stay seated on the bed."
