"Not yet," Xavier said apologetically.
Lance wasn't surprised and instructed in a deep voice, "Find out what's going on with the prescription Ricky has. Is it forged? Has he been in contact with anyone?"
"I understand," Xavier nodded. He knew that the prescription was the key to saving Dr. Deanna.
Later, Lance went to the police station to see Deanna and updated her on the progress. "My people found out that Ricky borrowed $4, 000, 000 from loan sharks. He has a motive now, but we need solid evidence. If we can prove he forged the prescription or bought musk, we can clear your name."
Deanna, being an herbalist, usually prepared her own prescriptions unless it involved rare herbs that she didn't have, in which case she would direct patients to other pharmacies. The elderly woman in question was poor, so Deanna used only common herbs that she had.
After hearing this, Deanna thanked Lance again, "Thank you for your hard work."
"It's no trouble. I'm doing this for myself too; I need you to treat me," Lance replied calmly.
Deanna nodded, determined to do her best to cure Lance. She then asked with concern, "How are my grandmother and her two children?"
"They're fine, just worried about you," Lance said, then asked about her situation in the detention center. "How about you? Is anyone bullying you?"
Deanna shook her head lightly, "I'm fine."
While they were chatting, the Mercer family mansion received a guest. Bella placed carefully selected gifts on the coffee table and greeted Samantha and Logan politely.
"Samantha, Logan, it's been a while since I visited. I hope you don't mind."
"Don't be silly. We know you're busy. We're just happy you came to see us," Samantha said warmly, pulling Bella to sit on the sofa.
Logan asked a few questions about the company and added, "If you encounter any problems, you can ask Lance for help."
"I know, but I'm afraid Lance doesn't want to see me now," Bella said with a sorrowful expression.
Samantha's eyes flickered as she understood why Bella made a sad look. She patted Bella's hand and advised earnestly, "Lance dislikes it when people make decisions for him or boss him around. Don't do that anymore."
"I understand. I came here today to ask for your help in talking to Lance. I know he has someone in his heart now, and I'll only see him as a brother from now on. By the way, these are clothes I bought for Dr. Deanna's two children," Bella said, pointing to the shopping bags on the table.
"I heard Miss Jones is in trouble, and Lance brought the children home to take care of them. I hope you can give these to him," she added.
Samantha and Logan were stunned.
"You mean Lance brought Deanna's children home?" Samantha asked again in disbelief.
Bella blinked innocently, pretending not to notice Samantha's anger. "Didn't you know?"
Samantha fell silent, and Logan's face darkened as well. They indeed didn't know about this.
After a moment, Samantha spoke with a heavy tone, "Now we know. As for what you said, I'll pass it on to Lance. We won't keep you today; let's plan to go shopping another time."
Bella wasn't surprised by this dismissal and left tactfully. She knew Samantha wanted to deal with Deanna's situation immediately. And indeed, after Bella left, Samantha instructed the butler, "Find out where Lance is right now."
"Yes," the butler nodded and left.
In less than ten minutes, he returned and reported respectfully, "Mr. Lance is with Old Hughes, seemingly helping Dr. Deanna find evidence."
As expected, Samantha and Logan's expressions turned sour. They were very unhappy that Lance was neglecting the company to help Deanna.
They tried calling Lance but couldn't reach him because his phone was off. In the end, they decided to go to Hencard Villa themselves to wait for him.
This situation was actually a misunderstanding. Lance had left his phone in the car while visiting various herbal shops and it had run out of battery. By the time he realized it, most of the day had passed.
Later that evening, after charging his phone, Lance received a call from the butler Sam.
"Mr. Lance, Madam and Mr. Logan have been waiting at home all day. Also, I've brought Miss Chloe and Master Gregory back from the school."
