Deanna followed the police away.
Not long after, the incident somehow made it to the news.
"Black Clinic's Heinous Acts: Prescribing Random Drugs, Leading to Death"
"Poor Elderly Woman's Family Scammed by Unethical Doctor, Left with Huge Medical Bills and a Disabled Child, Struggling to Survive."
Netizens, upon seeing these news reports, began to condemn Deanna.
"How could there be such a malicious person, even plotting harm against the elderly?"
"She must be severely punished. Let the police arrest her."
"How despicable, scamming even the elderly. Doesn't she have a conscience?"
During this period, someone even dug up Deanna's personal information.
"Hey, isn't this the same person who was Emily's sister before?"
"So she's Emily's sister. No wonder, birds of a feather flock together."
"It's her! I used to sympathize with her when she was kicked out by the Jones family. Now I understand, pitiable people must have some detestable traits."
Meanwhile, Emily also learned about the online uproar.
She looked at the news footage of Deanna being taken away by the police, a trace of malice flashing in her eyes.
"Deanna, Deanna, you have your day too. Heaven is helping me. This time, I will make you taste what I experienced in the detention center."
Saying this, she took out her phone to contact an old journalist acquaintance to blow up the matter.
Xavier also noticed the online situation and immediately took his phone to the CEO's office.
"Mr. Mercer, something bad happened to Dr. Deanna!"
"What happened?"
Lance immediately looked over seriously.
Xavier quickly explained, "A patient took the medicine prescribed by Dr. Deanna and had a heart attack. Now they're in the ICU, and their condition isn't good. The family caused a scene at Dr. Deanna's house, and now Dr. Deanna has been taken away by the police."
Almost as soon as these words fell, Lance's expression changed.
He stood up abruptly and ordered in a deep voice, "Prepare the car, we're going to the police station."
Xavier nodded and hurried downstairs to get the car.
In no time, they arrived at the police station.
Upon entering, they saw Old Ashley and two little ones helplessly waiting in the corridor.
"Grandma, Chloe, Gregory, are you all okay?"
Lance walked over with concern.
Old Ashley and the two little ones were somewhat surprised to see him.
The two little ones ran over and hugged Lance, asking in their childish voices, "Uncle, are you here to help Mommy?"
"Yes, I'm here to help your mommy. Don't worry, Uncle won't let anything happen to her."
Seeing their worry, Lance comforted them by patting their heads.
Then he looked at Old Ashley and asked, "Can you tell me what exactly happened?"
"Two days ago, an elderly woman came to our house. Her family situation wasn't good, and neither was her health. Deanna couldn't bear it and decided to help her. But this morning, her son came causing a scene, saying that the elderly woman had a heart attack after taking Deanna's medicine and is now in the ICU with an uncertain outcome." Old Ashley briefly explained the situation.
At the end of her explanation, her eyes couldn't help but redden. "Deanna would never prescribe medicine recklessly and harm someone."
Lance naturally believed that Deanna wasn't that kind of person.
He reassured her, "Don't worry. Dr. Deanna will be fine. I will have someone investigate this matter."
Meanwhile, in the interrogation room, Deanna was unaware that Lance had arrived.
At that moment, she was being questioned by the police.
"Miss Jones, is this the medicine you prescribed for that elderly woman?"
As he spoke, the officer opened a bag containing medicinal residue and placed it in front of Deanna for identification.
Deanna immediately examined it carefully.
After a moment, she frowned. "The other ingredients are correct, but one ingredient is wrong. That ingredient wasn't prescribed by me."
"What ingredient?"
The officer stepped forward to ask.
Deanna explained, "There's musk in here. This ingredient is relatively expensive. The elderly woman didn't have money; I'm certain I didn't prescribe this ingredient. Moreover, this ingredient conflicts with the other medicines I prescribed. It's possible that her heart attack was caused by this."
"Are you sure?"
The officer looked over for confirmation and asked again.
Deanna nodded firmly. "I'm sure. I have a copy of my prescription as evidence. I always keep a copy of every prescription I write."
"I understand. I'll have my colleagues investigate this matter. In the meantime, please wait here for further notice."
After making arrangements, the officer turned and left the interrogation room.
In the corridor, Old Ashley saw the officer come out and immediately approached him. "Officer, have you figured out what happened? When can my granddaughter be released? She's innocent; she wouldn't harm anyone."
"Ma'am, please calm down. We are conducting a routine investigation. As soon as we find evidence proving your granddaughter's innocence, we will release her," the officer replied truthfully.
Lance stepped forward and asked, "What kind of evidence do you need?"
"We just had Miss Jones identify the medicinal residue. She said one of the ingredients wasn't prescribed by her. If we can prove this point, she can be released."
