Upon hearing those words, everyone immediately showed disdain.
Five years ago, the scandal of the Jones family was known to all.
"So, she is that shameless eldest daughter of the Jones family. I can't believe she has the face to show up."
"Exactly, doing such a thing, she has disgraced all women!"
"With someone like her around, even the air feels dirty!"
As they spoke, someone started to drive Deanna away.
Deanna looked at the righteous expressions of the crowd, her face darkened.
She glanced at Emily standing nearby, her eyes filled with coldness.
Emily was, either past or present, a troublemaker. She seized this opportunity to create trouble again.
Emily noticed Deanna's gaze and raised her eyebrows smugly.
Sariah didn't notice the confrontation between the two.
Seeing Deanna standing still, Sariah lost her patience and shouted outside, "Where are the security guards? Someone is causing trouble here. Get them out!"
As soon as she said this, Deanna saw Emily mouthing words at her with a smug expression.
Though Emily didn't speak aloud, her lips clearly formed the words: "Bitch, I won't let you have it easy!"
Deanna found it amusing.
She wasn't just laughing at Emily but also at the people around her.
"Miss Osborne, have you perhaps misunderstood something?"
"What did I misunderstand?"
Sariah asked instinctively upon seeing the smile on Deanna's face.
Deanna looked at her and sneered coldly, "If I remember correctly, this is a free clinic organized by the Hughes family. The purpose of this clinic is to serve ordinary people. Since when did it become exclusive to high society?"
Sariah was momentarily speechless.
But she quickly glared at Deanna and said, "So what? Do you have a problem with that?"
"Yes, I do have a problem!"
Deanna didn't deny it and stared back at Sariah without backing down.
She paused and continued, "If this free clinic has become an exclusive event for high society today, then I might as well not attend."
Just as the two were confronting each other, Ava hurriedly brought Old Hughes out.
Earlier, Ava had noticed Deanna being troubled by people outside and immediately informed Old Hughes.
Upon hearing that Deanna was being harassed, Old Hughes couldn't sit still and asked Ava to lead the way.
Seeing Deanna surrounded by a crowd, Old Hughes's face darkened as he questioned, "What are you all doing here?"
"It's Old Hughes."
"Old Hughes is here. Make way."
Recognizing Old Hughes, everyone whispered and made way for him.
Sariah also saw Old Hughes and showed a delighted expression.
She first gave Deanna a look that said "you're finished," then quickly changed her expression to that of a well-mannered lady and greeted Old Hughes.
"Hello, Old Hughes. I'm Sariah from the Osborne family."
Old Hughes frowned and looked Sariah up and down. "I don't know any Osborne family, nor do I know you. But tell me, what were you doing just now?"
Sariah's smile froze instantly.
She hadn't expected Old Hughes to be so blunt.
But she quickly regained her composure and smiled again.
"Old Hughes, it's like this. This lady has a bad reputation and questionable character. To ensure the quality of your free clinic isn't affected, we decided to ask her to leave so that you wouldn't be upset by her presence."
Though Sariah spoke politely, she was essentially labeling Deanna as a disgrace.
Unsurprisingly, Deanna's face turned very unpleasant.
At this moment, Emily chimed in from the side, "Old Hughes, Miss Osborne is right. You might not know who this person is. Let me explain. She is Deanna, the eldest daughter of the Jones family who was kicked out five years ago. On the day before her wedding, she betrayed her fiance and was caught with another man. The scandal was all over town."
Old Hughes's wise eyes scanned Sariah and Emily. He immediately understood what was happening.
He then turned to Sariah and said bluntly, "You don't need to participate in today's free clinic. The Hughes family clinic will not provide you with any treatment!"
"Why?" Sariah exclaimed in shock.
Old Hughes didn't even bother to look at her. He turned to Deanna and scolded her with a smile, "You silly girl. Why didn't you call me when you arrived? Don't you know how important today is? Instead, you're wasting time outside with these irrelevant people."
Hearing this, Deanna almost laughed out loud but managed to hold it in.
"I understand. Next time I'll call you directly."
She showed a remorseful expression, indicating she would be more careful next time.
Old Hughes nodded in satisfaction and waved his hand with a smile. "Come on, let's go inside and see if you're satisfied with the arrangements."
With that, he led Deanna into the clinic.
The others followed behind them.
At this moment, they heard Old Hughes announce while pointing at Deanna, "Oh right, I forgot to tell you all. This is Deanna, a doctor highly admired by both me and Old Wright for her exceptional medical skills."
