Deanna didn't know that Samantha had found out about her situation.
She had just recovered from an illness and planned to rest at home for a day, not even going to the villa on the hill. The two little ones were especially well-behaved, not causing her any trouble and even taking good care of her throughout the day.
In the evening, Julia learned that Deanna was sick and brought fruit to visit her. After sitting down, she looked at Deanna reproachfully, "You got sick, why didn't you notify me to come and take care of you?"
Before Deanna could answer, the two little ones excitedly spoke up. "Godmother, it's okay. Uncle Lance came to take care of Mommy." "Yeah, with Uncle Lance here, Mommy is fine."
Hearing this, Julia's curiosity piqued, and she questioned her best friend, "What's going on?"
Deanna, seeing this, helplessly glanced at the two little ones and slowly recounted what happened yesterday. "Gregory and Chloe saw that I was sick and somehow called Mr. Mercer. Later, when my fever wouldn't go down, it was fortunate that Mr. Mercer was there and took me to the hospital in time. Otherwise, with just the two kids and Grandma at home, I really don't know what would have happened to me..."
At the end, she shook her head with a laugh. However, Julia, after hearing this, felt there was something fishy about it. She blinked and couldn't help but ask, "Deanna, does Mr. Mercer have any special feelings for you? First, he personally went to the club to find you, and now he's taking care of you all night. I don't believe he has no feelings for you!"
"Don't talk nonsense!" Deanna didn't expect her friend to say such astonishing things and hurriedly stopped her. "Mr. Mercer and I are just in a doctor-patient relationship, nothing more!" Seeing her best friend's firm denial, Julia didn't say anything more, lest she anger Deanna. However, the smile on her face was quite meaningful.
The next morning, Deanna got up early, had breakfast with the two little ones, and planned to take them to kindergarten. Just as she was about to leave, she received a call from Old Hughes. "Old Hughes, is there something you need?"
"Yes. My clinic is planning to hold a free clinical treatment soon. I wanted to ask if you have time to come and oversee it." Old Hughes straightforwardly stated the purpose of his call with a hearty voice, continuing, "Of course, if you come, I will pay you."
Hearing this, Deanna found it amusing. "Since it's a free clinical treatment, how can I accept your payment?"
"So, you agree to come?" Old Hughes' tone turned excited, unable to hide his enthusiasm.
Deanna smiled gently. "I agree, but I might need a little time before I can come."
Almost immediately, Old Hughes' anxious voice came through the phone. "Why? Do you have something urgent?"
"Not exactly. I was sick a couple of days ago and haven't fully recovered, so I need some time," Deanna explained briefly.
The next second, Old Hughes' concerned voice sounded, "How did you get sick? Is it serious? Do you need me to come and check on you?"
Hearing this, Deanna felt a warm feeling. She gently shook her head and declined, "Thank you, Old Hughes, but it's nothing serious. I'll be fine in a few days."
"In that case, I'll reschedule the free clinical treatment until you're well," Old Hughes unilaterally decided, not giving Deanna a chance to speak, and ended the call after leaving one last sentence. "Rest well for the next few days and get better. I'll notify them to change the time for the free clinical treatment."
Deanna laughed and put down her phone, meeting the curious eyes of the two little ones. Chloe hugged her leg and was the first to ask, "Mommy, what's a free clinical treatment?"
"Silly sister, a free clinical treatment is giving medical care to people for free," Gregory said disdainfully, frowning. "I heard that free clinical treatments are very tiring. Can you handle it, Mommy?"
Deanna was surprised that the little one knew what a free clinical treatment was, but then she thought of his high intelligence and found it understandable. "Don't worry, I won't get too tired."
Despite her promise, Gregory was worried. But seeing that his mommy had made up her mind, he didn't say anything more.
In the evening, after Lance finished his work, he went to Deanna's house as usual, intending to spend some time with his son and daughter.
However, Gregory's eyes lit up upon seeing him. Gregory had thought of how to persuade his mommy to rest at home instead of participating in the free clinical treatment.
"Uncle, can you help me persuade my mommy?" the little one tugged at Lance's clothes and whispered. Lance looked at him in surprise and asked, "What's wrong?"
"My mommy is planning to participate in a free clinical treatment in a couple of days. I'm worried she won't be able to handle it physically and want her to rest at home," Gregory said honestly. Lance, hearing this, also disapproved.
Just then, Deanna came out of the kitchen with some fruit, and Lance asked, "I heard you're planning to go to a free clinical treatment in a couple of days. You just recovered, don't strain yourself. Take care of your health!"
Hearing this, Deanna knew it must have been the two little ones who told him. She pretended to scold them with a fierce look, then smiled at Lance, "Take care of your own health first. I know my condition well!"
