Deanna returned to the private room, her expression unchanged.
"Mommy, you're back!" The two little ones exclaimed as soon as they saw Deanna.
Deanna chuckled lightly. "Hurry up and eat."
The two little ones didn't have much of an appetite and soon declared themselves full.
"Now that you've eaten, it's time to take you back," Landon said, getting up and addressing Deanna.
Deanna nodded. "Alright."
There were too many toys behind Landon for one person to carry.
Between the two little ones, they each held one with one hand, while Deanna took a few more. The rest were handed over to Landon.
Looking at their setup, one would think they had just gone shopping at a supermarket.
Unable to help herself, Deanna said, "Next time, don't buy so much. It's too much trouble."
Landon raised an eyebrow. "No, I can't do that. These are gifts for these two precious kids. How can I find it troublesome?"
Deanna laughed. "Alright, then next time you can carry them yourself, don't ask me!"
"No way!"
...
Bantering like this, it didn't take long for Landon to drive them home.
Deanna had wanted to invite Landon in, but he said he had things to do, so she had to give up.
In her room, Deanna sat on the bed and recalled what had happened tonight.
After thinking about it, she decided to give Lance a call.
Before long, Lance's voice came through the phone. "Dr. Deanna, what's the matter?"
Deanna pursed her lips, hesitant to speak.
"Well, Mr. Mercer..." she began, but Lance interrupted her.
"Dr. Deanna, just say what you want to say."
Deanna nodded and pondered for a moment before speaking again. "I just wanted to ask if you and Miss Cody have confirmed your marriage relationship."
Upon hearing this, Lance was momentarily stunned.
"What do you mean?" He couldn't quite grasp the meaning behind her words.
Deanna quickly explained, afraid that he might misunderstand. "No, I just wanted to clarify this point. If you have, I feel like Miss Cody might have some misunderstandings about our relationship."
Upon hearing this, Lance quickly understood.
He caught the key information in her words and his gaze turned cold as he furrowed his brows. "What happened? Did Bella cause trouble for you?"
Mentioning this, Lance's expression also turned unpleasant.
Deanna shook her head. "No, not at all. We just happened to meet and had a few words."
She wasn't someone who liked to gossip, and she didn't want to say much about this matter either.
Regarding their conversation, Deanna only briefly described it. "Miss Cody seems to care a lot about our relationship... So I just wanted to ask if it would affect your relationship with her. It would be better to explain things clearly."
She didn't want to talk about someone else behind their back, but she also didn't want to deal with trouble.
If Bella held a grudge against her for treating Lance and caused trouble for her, it would only be bothersome.
Lance shook his head and said, "It won't affect us. There was nothing between us in the first place, and neither of our families has any intention of getting engaged."
"Just continue as usual, don't worry about it."
With these words, he cut off all ties between him and Bella.
He never had a good impression of Bella, and now that she repeatedly interfered in his life, she had crossed his bottom line.
This made Lance completely intolerant.
A woman like her could never become his fiancée.
Deanna hesitated and said, "But today it seemed very clear from Miss Cody's expression... If something happens in the future..."
Before Deanna could finish her sentence, Lance interrupted her.
"Don't worry, I'll handle things on my end. You don't need to worry."
Upon hearing this, Deanna nodded.
"Okay."
No matter what their relationship was like or whether they had a business marriage or not, as long as it didn't involve her and didn't affect her life, it was fine.
"By the way, I added a few more medicinal herbs for you yesterday. How do you feel after taking them? Any side effects?" she asked.
Yesterday she had left in a hurry and hadn't had a chance to ask Lance about the effects of the medicine and how he felt after taking it.
Lance nodded and gave a detailed explanation. "When I first took it, there was no difference from usual. But gradually, after a few minutes, I felt a warm sensation throughout my body, especially in my abdomen. It felt hot, and I sweat more than usual when sleeping at night..."
Listening attentively, Deanna nodded while taking notes.
"That's good. It means there are no adverse reactions. This is how the medicine works. Sweating more at night means it's expelling the dampness from your body. It's a normal phenomenon and nothing to worry about."
"You can continue taking it, and if there are any changes or discomfort, let me know immediately."
"Okay," Lance nodded.
