In the dimly lit basement, Eula sat numbly beneath the room's only window, looking disheveled and emitting a sour stench. Her former allure was gone; her exposed skin had turned sallow and emaciated.
Suddenly, the silence of the basement was broken by the sound of a door opening and footsteps approaching. Eula's previously vacant eyes gained some focus as she looked towards the door.
In the next moment, the door, which had been tightly shut, was pushed open from the outside, revealing two unexpected figures.
Deanna and Lance entered, immediately wrinkling their noses at the unpleasant smell.
Deanna, unable to bear it, glanced at the unrecognizable woman not far away and said coldly, "Take her to clean up. Once she's done, bring her to the living room."
With that, she turned and left quickly, fearing she might vomit if she stayed any longer. Lance followed her out immediately.
Outside, Deanna took several deep breaths of fresh air and looked at Lance with some exasperation. "Couldn't you have someone clean her up?"
"That was my oversight. I'll make sure someone takes care of it in the future," Lance promised.
Deanna shook her head. "No need. After this meeting, I plan to hand her over to the police."
"That works. Given her past crimes and the murder of your grandmother, she won't have a chance to get out," Lance supported Deanna's decision without question, which warmed her heart.
Looking around at the scenery of the villa, Deanna smiled. "The view here is nice. Maybe we can bring Gregory and Chloe over for a barbecue someday."
"Sure, but let's wait until after our honeymoon," Lance replied with a smile.
Deanna sighed. "Time flies. We're getting married soon."
Lance disagreed. "You're wrong. Time has passed very slowly for me. I've waited so long to finally marry you."
"Do you really have to make things so literal?" Deanna looked at him helplessly.
Meeting her gaze, Lance pulled her into his arms and whispered, "I have to. You have no idea how long I've waited for this day."
He buried his head in her neck and took a deep breath. "It's wonderful. I'm finally about to marry you."
Leaning against Lance's chest, Deanna listened to his heartfelt words and felt as if her heart was filled with sweet cotton candy.
After a while, they walked into the living room, where Eula had been cleaned up but was now tied up on the floor with faint bloodstains on her clothes. Deanna and Lance noticed immediately.
Before they could ask, one of their subordinates reported, "Boss, Missus, when Red Fox was giving her a bath, she tried to attack and escape. Red Fox had to use some force."
"I understand. You can leave now," Lance said, waving his hand.
The subordinate nodded and left the living room, leaving only Deanna, Lance, and Eula.
Eula sat on the floor, glaring at Deanna and Lance with hatred. "If you have the guts, kill me!" she spat through gritted teeth.
Lance ignored her and looked at Deanna, signaling her to handle it.
Deanna stepped forward and sneered at Eula. "We have the guts, but we just don't want to kill you."
"You bitch!" Eula cursed loudly. Then she seemed to think of something and deliberately provoked Deanna. "You look well. I guess you've been living comfortably lately. I wonder how your grandmother is doing in the nether world. Raising a granddaughter so painstakingly only for her to live happily after her death. Deanna, you and Lance are truly a pair of ungrateful wretches."
Hearing this, Deanna was indeed furious. She squatted down and grabbed Eula's collar, pulling her close.
"What? Angry already? I haven't even said much yet. Do you know? You're a jinx, a harbinger of bad luck. Anyone who gets close to you ends up dead or crippled," Eula taunted fearlessly.
Deanna looked at her and suddenly laughed. "You want to provoke me into killing you quickly? But things won't go as you wish! Even though I want nothing more than to tear you apart, death would be too easy for you. I want you to live a life worse than death, unable to die even if you wish for it. Today I'm here to settle this matter once and for all. Do you know? Tomorrow is my wedding with Lance. I don't want to hear about you ever again after we get married. I want my future to be filled with happiness. So trash like you needs to be dealt with early."
