Early the next morning, Deanna dropped the kids off at school and headed to Gunner's temporary residence.
Seeing her, Gunner was a bit surprised. "Why are you here so early?"
"I need to borrow some people from you," Deanna replied, not hiding her intentions, and explained the car accident from the previous day.
Gunner's face darkened after hearing her out. "Shouldn't Lance be handling this?"
Noticing her master's displeasure, Deanna smiled lightly. "Although it was Lance's admirer who caused this trouble, I can't just sit back and do nothing when Eula bullies me. That would make me look easy to push around."
She paused for a moment before continuing, "Don't worry, I won't use force. I'm just going to confront them. I'm a good citizen, and catching bad guys is a job for the police."
Hearing this, Gunner didn't object further. After all, Deanna had a point. It wouldn't make sense to let others bully them without any reaction; that would only encourage more trouble.
With that, Deanna took the security team she borrowed from her master and headed straight to the hotel where Eula was staying.
The hotel receptionist became nervous upon seeing the intimidating group. However, maintaining professional composure, the receptionist asked, "Hello, how can I assist you?"
"Don't worry, I'm just here to see someone, not to cause trouble," Deanna reassured the receptionist before heading towards the elevator with her team.
Despite her words, the receptionist quickly informed the hotel manager.
Within minutes, Deanna reached the floor where Eula was staying. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Eula's men guarding the hallway.
The guards noticed Deanna and exchanged glances before one of them stepped forward to block her. "Miss Deanna, what brings you here?" he asked, glancing at the people behind her.
Deanna responded with a cold smile and ordered, "Take them down!"
With that command, her security team swiftly subdued the guards in the hallway. The commotion alerted Eula and Avery inside the room.
"Avery, go check what's happening!" Eula ordered.
"Yes!" Avery responded and was about to open the door when it was pushed open from the outside. Deanna walked in with a stern expression.
Both Avery and Eula were surprised to see her. Eula forced a smile and asked, "Miss Deanna, what brings you here?"
"You should know very well why I'm here," Deanna replied with an imposing demeanor.
Eula's eyes flashed with cunning as she feigned ignorance. "Miss Deanna, I don't understand what you're talking about."
Deanna expected this response. She looked at Eula and smiled slightly. "It's fine if you don't understand now. You'll understand when the police arrive."
"Police?" Eula and Avery's expressions changed. They hadn't expected Deanna to call the police. But on second thought, it made sense since Chiaz was a law-abiding society, unlike foreign countries.
Eula silently cursed herself for underestimating the situation but maintained her confused facade. "Why would the police come?"
Seeing Eula's continued denial, Deanna smirked sarcastically but didn't answer immediately. Instead, she walked over to the sofa and sat down. Once settled, she looked up and spoke in a light but cold voice.
"Yesterday, on my way back from the hospital, a van crashed into my car. The driver reeked of alcohol. Out of all the cars on the road, he specifically targeted mine on the right lane. Don't you think that's strange?"
As she finished speaking, Deanna's gaze turned dangerous as she stared at Eula.
Unfortunately, Eula still wore a look of confusion.
At that moment, Deanna couldn't help but think that if this woman were in showbiz, she'd surely win an Oscar for her acting skills.
Pushing aside her random thoughts, Deanna continued, "Because it seemed strange, I had someone investigate privately. We found out that the driver was a drunkard and a gambler who owed hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. Yet he managed to pay it all off yesterday afternoon. My people dug deeper. Do you know what they found?"
Deanna deliberately posed this question to Eula. After all, it wouldn't be fun if she were the only one talking.
As expected, Eula responded, "What did they find?"
"My people found that the money was transferred from an overseas account belonging to one of your subordinates. Miss Eula, how do you plan to explain this?" Deanna asked leisurely, looking directly at Eula.
Their eyes met.
Eula's expression turned inscrutable as she said, "I have no idea about this matter."
"Oh? So you're saying that your subordinates acted behind your back?" Deanna replied slowly, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
