Around ten o'clock, Lance finally walked out of the hospital with Xavier.
Seeing him, Eula immediately got out of the car holding a bouquet of flowers.
She ran towards Lance, handed him the flowers, and said with a bright smile, "Lance, congratulations on your discharge."
Lance looked at her with an expressionless face and did not take the flowers.
Faced with his cold eyes, Eula's smile almost faded.
Just as she was about to say something else, an angry shout suddenly rang in her ears.
"Lance, you already have a new lover just days after you broke up with Deanna!"
Landon glared furiously at Lance and Eula.
He had been a bit slow to react earlier, but he never expected to see such an infuriating scene.
He had once thought Lance was a good man and had voluntarily given up to let Deanna be with him. But this was how Lance treated Deanna!
Damn it!
"Lance, you're really something!"
Landon finished speaking, took off his sunglasses, and threw them forcefully to the ground. He strode over, fists clenched, ready to punch.
But Lance wasn't going to stand there and take it. He caught Landon's swinging fist with one hand and pushed him aside, his voice icy cold, "Get lost!"
Seeing this, Xavier stepped forward and tried to persuade Landon.
"Mr. Sherman, Mr. Mercer is in a bad mood. Don't make a scene here; it won't look good if things get ugly."
"Hah, he's in a bad mood? With a new lover in his arms, how could he be in a bad mood?"
Landon retorted sarcastically and straightened his clothes, which had gotten a bit disheveled during the scuffle.
Then he glared at Lance with eyes blazing with anger. "Today, I'm going to expose your abandonment of your wife and child in public and give you a good beating!"
With that, he waved to his bodyguards behind him.
The bodyguards immediately surrounded Lance and Eula upon receiving the order.
Lance's face darkened as he looked around.
Eula's expression wasn't much better, but she was secretly delighted. She hoped Landon would make a bigger scene so that everyone would mistakenly think she was Lance's new lover.
Xavier, however, felt conflicted as he looked at the surrounding bodyguards.
If Landon weren't Mr. Mercer's rival in love, he would have admired the man for his bravery. It took guts to bring people over to fight Mr. Mercer; truly courageous.
Landon didn't know what the others were thinking. Seeing Lance surrounded, a trace of smugness flashed in his eyes. "Listen up! Anyone who hits Lance will get a $10, 000 reward. A kick will earn you $20, 000. Leave a mark on his face, and you'll get $30, 000!"
Hearing this, Lance's handsome features twisted into an expression beyond mere anger.
Just as he was about to instruct Xavier to deal with these people, Eula stepped forward first.
"I dare any of you to touch him!"
Eula stood in front of Lance protectively.
She saw this as her chance to show Lance how different she was from Deanna. She wasn't the kind of woman who would hide behind a man when trouble arose.
Landon was momentarily stunned but then laughed mockingly. "I've only been out of the country for a few months, and the once-mighty president of Mercer Group now hides behind a woman? Is Mercer Group going bankrupt? Is that why you abandoned your wife and child and decided to live off a woman?"
These words were truly cutting.
The chill emanating from Lance was almost palpable.
He looked at Landon dangerously. Initially, he had planned to let it go since Landon didn't know the truth and was standing up for Deanna.
But this man had repeatedly provoked him and tied him together with Eula. He was asking for it!
"Xavier, handle it!"
Lance's voice was cold as ice.
Xavier nodded and clapped his hands. Dozens of stronger and more intimidating bodyguards appeared.
The atmosphere grew tense again as these men arrived.
Especially when Landon's team leader leaned close to Landon and whispered, "Boss, these guys aren't ordinary people. They've seen blood; we're no match for them. Maybe we should retreat."
"What do you mean? We haven't even started fighting yet, and you're saying we can't win? You're supposed to be a world boxing champion!"
Landon was furious.
Backing down before the fight even started would ruin his reputation. How could he face Deanna if word got out?
The team leader looked troubled at Landon's angry expression.
He might be a boxing champion, but these men were different; they were ruthless.
Before he could think of another way to persuade Landon, Landon's angry voice rang out again. "Everyone, attack! Anyone who dares to run will be blacklisted from the industry!"
With no other choice and for the sake of their careers, Landon's bodyguards reluctantly charged forward.
