In the days that followed, even though Deanna had lost her memory, she still lived a fulfilling life.
During the day, she accompanied her grandmother in the hospital. In the evening, Lance would take her to places they used to frequent, trying to help her regain her memories.
A week passed in the blink of an eye. Deanna managed to recall some memories, but they were very blurry. One day, Lance took her to the hospital for a check-up.
Half an hour later, the doctor came out with the results and smiled, "Mr. Mercer, Missus's condition is improving. The area of the blood clot has reduced significantly. She should have remembered some past events in the last couple of days."
"She has," Deanna nodded and described the scenes she had recalled over the past few days. The doctor explained, "It's normal for these images to be blurry since the blood clot in your brain hasn't completely dissipated yet."
After leaving the hospital, Lance escorted Deanna home before heading to his office. As soon as she entered the living room, Deanna received a call from Jessica.
"Miss Deanna, am I disturbing your rest?"
"No, what's up?" Deanna asked as she sat on the sofa.
Before Jessica could answer, Deanna heard Dayton's voice urging in the background, "Why are you being so polite? Just ask her where she lives."
"You've come to Cloudmere," Deanna said, somewhat surprised.
Jessica apologized, "Yes, we didn't know where you were staying. Is it convenient for us to come over now?"
"Sure, I'll give you the address," Deanna said and then provided the address of the estate.
About half an hour later, she heard the sound of an engine outside. Deanna got up and went out to see Jessica and Dayton getting out of the car.
"Deanna, I finally found you! You've really put me through hell!" Dayton angrily walked towards her.
Just as he was about to reach her, Nightingale stepped in and blocked him. Nightingale stared at Dayton with a warning look, "Mr. Poole, speak properly."
Realizing that Nightingale was not someone to mess with, Dayton withheld his outburst of rage, but he still glared at Deanna angrily. "Deanna, because of you, my parents beat me up so badly I almost broke my leg. They even cut off my allowance for six months. You owe me for this! You need to cover my expenses for the next six months!"
He finished speaking and looked determined to make Deanna responsible.
Jessica watched from the side, feeling both embarrassed and frustrated. "Dayton, don't speak nonsense!"
"I'm not speaking nonsense. Everything I said is true. And don't think you can boss me around just because we're engaged."
Dayton retorted at Jessica with a displeased look.
Jessica's face turned cold instantly. Deanna was surprised by what she heard. "You two are engaged?"
"If it weren't for this woman scheming against me, I wouldn't have gotten engaged to her."
Dayton's face turned sour as he recalled something.
Jessica's expression also became awkward, but she defended herself, "I told you, I didn't scheme against you."
"Of course you deny it now. Women are all the same," Dayton said, glancing at Deanna as if including her in his statement.
Seeing this, Deanna raised an eyebrow and threatened, "It seems you've forgotten how much trouble you were in when I stayed at your house."
Dayton's expression changed instantly and he quieted down. He remembered how Deanna had tormented him when she stayed at his house. Even though she had no memory and wasn't in great health, she somehow managed to make him suffer from constant aches and pains.
Jessica was amazed by Dayton's sudden compliance but didn't get a chance to ask before Deanna invited them inside. "Don't mind him; let's talk inside."
Once they were seated in the living room, Jessica couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. "Miss Deanna, it seems like Dayton is really afraid of you. How did you manage that?"
"He just needs a good beating to behave. If one beating doesn't work, give him more until he learns his lesson," Deanna shared her experience.
Her words were overheard by Dayton as he entered the room, causing him to explode in anger. "Deanna, stop teaching Jessica bad things! You're violent enough; don't corrupt others! I can't believe Lance likes someone as violent as you!"
"You should ask Lance that yourself. But I'm usually very gentle with him," Deanna replied nonchalantly.
Dayton was left speechless and didn't dare to confront Lance either. In frustration, he sat down on a single sofa nearby.
Deanna didn't mind and turned to Jessica with a warm smile. "So, what brings you here this time?"
"Of course there's a reason. I'm here to challenge Lance," Dayton interrupted before Jessica could answer. "This time, I must beat him."
