The next morning, Deanna woke up to the sound of running water from the bathroom. She knew it must be Lance inside, washing up. She sat up in bed and saw a set of clean clothes neatly folded at the foot of the bed. Seeing the neatly folded clothes, Deanna smiled slightly.
A few minutes later, she had changed into her clothes, and Lance emerged from the bathroom, freshly groomed. He was already dressed in a suit, standing tall and handsome at the bathroom door. Deanna found the sight pleasing and greeted him with a cheerful smile. "Good morning."
"Morning," Lance replied, his eyes filled with warmth.
Later, after they had both gotten ready, they went downstairs hand in hand. Downstairs, Logan, Samantha, and Old Mercer were already there. The two little ones were gathered around Old Mercer, chatting and laughing, creating a warm and cozy scene.
"Good morning, Mr. Mercer, Missus," the butler greeted Deanna and Lance respectfully upon seeing them.
At this moment, the previously lively Mercer family paused and looked at the young couple. "Since you're up, let's serve breakfast," Old Mercer instructed.
The butler nodded and went to prepare breakfast.
During the meal, Old Mercer suddenly said, "Now that Deanna is back, there's no rush for the wedding. I plan to return to the mountain."
"So soon?" Logan asked reluctantly.
Old Mercer nodded. "I've been down here for quite some time. The air here isn't as good as on the mountain; I feel uncomfortable staying here. Gregory and Chloe, make sure to visit your great-grandfather when you have time."
"Okay, we'll go to the mountain to accompany you during our holidays," the two little ones nodded obediently.
Old Mercer smiled lovingly at them and then turned to Lance. "Take care of your personal matters quickly. If Deanna suffers any more grievances and it affects my unborn great-grandchild, I won't let you off."
"I see," Lance replied with a nod.
Even without his grandfather's warning, he would handle it.
Seeing Lance's serious expression, Old Mercer knew he had taken it to heart. Satisfied, he turned his gaze to Deanna, his stern expression softening immediately. "Take good care of yourself. If Lance makes you angry, tell me, and I'll teach him a lesson for you."
"I will. Thank you, Old Mr. Mercer," Deanna replied with a smile.
With that, breakfast ended with Old Mercer's reminders.
After breakfast, since Deanna had a treatment scheduled for today, Lance accompanied her back to the estate. The two little ones followed along as well.
The treatment went smoothly. Deanna had several silver needles inserted into her scalp, trembling slightly under the sunlight.
"Mommy, how do you feel now? Does it hurt?" The two little ones looked at her with concern in their eyes.
Lance also watched her closely, worried. "How do you feel? If it's uncomfortable, don't hold back."
"I don't feel much. Don't look at me like something's wrong; it's making me a bit scared," Deanna said helplessly.
Gunner looked at the three of them being so nervous and couldn't help but laugh. "What? Are you doubting my medical skills?"
"Of course not! Grandmaster is the best," the two little ones quickly refuted, their sweet words flowing like honey.
Lance remained silent because he felt that no matter what he said at this moment, Gunner probably wouldn't be pleased with him. So he quietly stayed by Deanna's side.
Fifteen minutes passed quickly, and Gunner began to remove the needles. As he took out the last silver needle from Deanna's head, he looked at her with concern and asked, "How do you feel now?"
"My head feels a bit swollen, but it's still bearable," Deanna answered honestly.
Gunner nodded. "Feeling swollen is normal since we stimulated the soft tissues inside."
He then turned to Lance and the two little ones and instructed, "I'll come back in three days for another treatment. In the meantime, you can tell Deanna about memorable events or show her photos to help stimulate her memory recovery."
"I understand. Thank you, Mr. Martinez," Lance replied seriously.
After giving a few more instructions, Gunner left.
The living room was now left with just the family of four. Lance looked at Deanna with concern and asked, "Do you want to rest for a while?"
"I'm feeling a bit uncomfortable," Deanna admitted.
Hearing this, Lance immediately said, "Then I'll accompany you to the room to rest."
Unexpectedly, Deanna gave him a strange look after he spoke.
"What's wrong?" Lance asked in confusion.
Deanna blinked and said, "Since I came back, you've been with me all the time. Don't you need to take care of the company? With Old Mr. Mercer going back to the mountain today, Logan should be handling things alone at the company. Shouldn't you go help him?"
"No rush. I'll go to the company once you're settled," Lance explained with a gentle smile, thinking she was worried about the company. "Besides, I can handle work remotely."
