Back at the manor, Deanna and the two little ones had just gotten out of the car when a clear voice reached their ears.
"Lance!"
Eula called out as she stepped out of a car parked by the roadside.
The two little ones saw her and instinctively stood in front of Deanna. "Mommy, we will protect you. We won't let this bad woman bully you."
Seeing the two little ones guarding against the slowly approaching woman with hostility, Deanna squinted her eyes and sized up the woman.
There was no denying that this woman was very beautiful and had a capable demeanor.
Eula was also sizing up Deanna.
Seeing the unfamiliar look in Deanna's eyes, she immediately confirmed that the news from her subordinates was true.
This wretched woman had really lost her memory.
"Miss Deanna, I'm so glad you're okay," Eula said with false concern.
Although she was smiling, Deanna still detected hostility in her eyes.
Deanna nodded lightly and turned to Lance. "It looks like she's here for you. I'll take Gregory and Chloe inside. You two can talk."
Without giving Lance a chance to speak, she led the two little ones away.
The two little ones were anxious.
"Mommy, how can you leave Daddy with that bad woman? She wants to take Daddy away from us."
"Yeah, Mommy, let's go back. We can't let Daddy be alone with her."
They tried to pull Deanna back.
Seeing their anxious faces, Deanna couldn't help but laugh.
The two little ones saw her smile and were both anxious and helpless. "Mommy, how can you still laugh? Come back with us."
"Alright, don't be in such a hurry. Listen to what I have to say first."
Deanna gently pulled the two little ones who were trying to take her back.
They had no choice but to quiet down. "What does Mommy want to say?"
"Don't be so glum. You should trust your Daddy. Besides, this is a mess your Daddy got himself into. Why should I clean it up? Honestly, your Daddy is handsome and comes from a good family. There must be many people who like him. If I had to deal with every troublesome admirer, I'd be exhausted."
Hearing this, the two little ones were stunned and found it oddly reasonable.
Chloe blinked and looked up. "But Mommy, aren't you afraid that Daddy might really be taken away?"
"If your Daddy is so easily taken away, it only means he isn't worth trusting for life. I should take you both away from him and find a new Daddy for you. With my qualifications, that shouldn't be difficult."
"Uh..."
The two little ones were completely speechless.
Or rather, they were shocked by their Mommy's bold words.
Equally shocked were Lance and Eula outside the door.
Lance's face darkened instantly.
Eula's eyes flashed with a glimmer of hope, her mood suddenly brightening.
She forced a smile and said to Lance, "It seems Miss Deanna's personality has changed quite a bit after losing her memory."
Lance gave her a cold look and didn't respond. Instead, he asked indifferently, "You didn't come here to talk nonsense."
Seeing his impatience, Eula's eyes flashed with unwillingness, but she didn't show it on her face.
"Indeed, I didn't come here to talk nonsense. But are you sure you want to discuss this here?"
"Follow me."
Lance knew why Eula was here.
He also knew that if things weren't clarified today, this woman would keep coming back.
And he didn't want Eula to make Deanna unhappy with him.
Especially now that Deanna had lost her memory.
Once inside the manor, Sam saw Lance and quickly approached to report, "Mr. Mercer, Missus has taken Master Gregory and Miss Chloe back to their room."
After speaking, he noticed Eula behind Mr. Mercer and his smile faded slightly.
"Miss Eula."
He greeted politely, then heard Mr. Mercer's cold voice, "Go ask Deanna to come to my study."
Sam nodded and left.
Watching him walk away, Lance prepared to go upstairs to the study.
At that moment, Eula's voice came from behind him. "Are you planning to let Miss Deanna hear our conversation?"
"Naturally. If you don't want that, you can leave," Lance replied without turning around.
Eula looked at his cold back, clenched her fists tightly, and finally followed him.
She had no choice; since Deanna was fine, she had to recover her losses from Lance over the past month.
On the other side, Deanna was surprised when Sam relayed the message.
"He wants me to go over? Why?"
"Mr. Mercer didn't say. I don't know either," Sam replied with a slight smile.
The two little ones heard this and gently pushed Deanna. "Mommy, if Daddy called you over, there must be something important. We'll play in the room by ourselves. Don't worry."
