Just ten minutes after Dayton left, a well-mannered young lady arrived outside the villa.
She rang the doorbell and stepped aside, waiting quietly.
Soon, Jack came to open the door and was somewhat surprised to see her. "Miss Hill, what brings you here?"
Jack recognized the young lady in front of him as Jessica, the eldest daughter of the Hill family. His face showed a troubled expression.
According to etiquette, he should invite Jessica into the villa, but considering who was currently staying there, he hesitated. Bringing her inside might lead to complications.
Jessica was supposed to be the future wife chosen for Mr. Poole by his parents.
Jessica noticed Jack's expression but pretended not to see it. She smiled lightly and said, "I'm here to see Dayton. He came back earlier, didn't he?"
"Uh... Mr. Poole did come back, but he just left. If you go after him now, you should catch up quickly."
Jack said this deliberately, hoping Jessica would go after Mr. Poole. Unfortunately, he didn't know that Jessica's target today wasn't Dayton.
No one knew that Jessica had developed feelings for Dayton, who seemed to be aimless and unmotivated.
Especially since she had been matchmaking the two families for an arranged marriage. When Dayton returned from abroad, the marriage talks fell through, and she heard he brought back a woman from abroad.
Jessica suspected that this woman was the reason for the canceled marriage. She was curious about what kind of person could make the carefree Dayton settle down.
"I won't chase after him. I'll wait inside."
With that, Jessica entered the villa.
Jack watched her go in, feeling a headache coming on. He quickly thought of notifying Mr. Poole to return.
Jessica soon reached the living room.
At this time, Deanna hadn't returned to her room. She was still sitting on the sofa reading a magazine, just as she had been when Dayton left.
Hearing the sound of high heels at the entrance, she thought Mrs. Poole had arrived and looked over in surprise.
To her astonishment, she saw an unfamiliar young lady and was momentarily stunned.
Jessica also noticed Deanna and was taken aback.
First, she was surprised by Deanna's beautiful appearance and gentle demeanor. Second, she found Deanna very familiar.
Jessica stared at Deanna for a few moments before exclaiming in surprise, "You're Deanna, Miss Deanna!"
Her reaction was understandable. Dayton had always been hostile towards Lance because of past events, and Miss Deanna was Lance's fiancée. It didn't make sense for Dayton to have any connection with her.
After all, Dayton hated Lance and anyone related to him.
"According to what Dayton told me, my name is indeed Deanna. Do you know me?"
Deanna looked at her inquisitively.
Jessica found this statement odd.
What did she mean by "according to what Dayton told me"?
Seeing Jessica's obvious confusion, Deanna didn't hide anything. "I was injured before and lost my memory temporarily. Are you here to see me or Dayton?"
Jessica didn't know how to respond for a moment. There was too much information in Deanna's words.
Deanna watched her silence without urging her and waited quietly.
After a moment, Jessica spoke honestly, "I'm here to see you."
"To see me? What for?"
Deanna was a bit surprised.
Jessica smiled and said, "It's nothing serious. Miss Deanna, why are you at Dayton's place?"
She didn't want to reveal her true intentions.
Deanna looked at her deeply but didn't hide anything. "As I mentioned earlier, I was injured before and Dayton saved me. However, it seems he has some grudge against my fiancé and won't let me leave."
Jessica was speechless again, unsure how to describe her feelings at that moment.
Was Dayton seeking trouble?!
Hiding Lance's fiancée without fearing Lance's retaliation against the Poole family?
However, she hadn't heard any news about Lance's fiancée going missing, so it must have been kept under wraps.
"Miss Deanna, Dayton is a bit reckless but not a bad person. Could you please not hold it against him for saving you?"
Jessica tried to plead for Dayton.
Deanna looked at Jessica inquisitively and smiled. "You like Dayton."
"Yes, I've liked him for a long time."
Seeing her feelings exposed, Jessica nodded frankly.
Deanna liked her straightforwardness and smiled. "Don't worry; I won't hold a grudge against someone who hasn't grown up. But I do want to know more about myself. Can you tell me? Or help me contact my fiancé or family?"
"Of course, but I'll need some time. Miss Deanna, your fiancé and I aren't in the same social circle, so I don't have his contact information. I'll come back tomorrow."
Jessica nodded in agreement.
