After almost another hour, the old lady was finally resuscitated.
During this time, Lance kept stimulating the old lady, talking until his mouth was dry.
He followed behind Gunner and the other doctors and nurses, escorting the old lady out of the emergency room.
During this, Gunner's warning voice reached his ears, "What you said in the operating room better be just words. If I find out you're bad to Gregory and Chloe, I'll make your life a living hell."
Lance was speechless but still replied in a deep voice, "Don't worry, you won't get the chance."
Those words were just to stimulate the old lady. As for the two children, he loved them too much to ever treat them poorly.
Once outside, Samantha saw them and immediately stepped forward with concern, "How is she? Is the old lady alright?"
"She's been resuscitated, but she really can't take any more shocks. Otherwise, even the best doctors couldn't save her," the attending doctor advised gravely.
Samantha nodded repeatedly, indicating she understood.
Later, the group escorted the old lady back to her ward.
Seeing the fatigue on Gunner's face, Lance politely said, "Thank you for today, Mr. Martinez. You should go rest now; I'll take care of things here."
"No need for pleasantries. I treated the old lady because she's Deanna's grandmother," Gunner huffed arrogantly but didn't refuse the suggestion to rest.
After all, he was getting older, and several hours of emergency work had taken its toll.
As he left, Lance also told Samantha to go rest.
After half a day of worry, Samantha's face couldn't hide her exhaustion.
Samantha wanted to refuse; she hoped Lance would go find Deanna.
Lance said, "I'll stay here today. You go rest and come back tomorrow to relieve me. As for Deanna, people are still searching for her. There's nothing more I can do right now."
Hearing this, Samantha didn't insist further.
Soon, Lance was the only one left in the ward.
It was then that he began to piece together what had happened at the hospital.
He suddenly realized that the old lady's incident occurred after Eula's subordinate had visited.

Lance immediately instructed him, "Go urge the hospital to release the surveillance footage."
"Yes!" Xavier nodded and quickly went to contact the hospital administrators.
Not long after, he returned with a troubled expression.
Seeing his face, Lance could guess the reason with just a thought. "The surveillance has issues."
"Yes, Mr. Mercer. The staff said that during that time, the surveillance in this ward experienced a short circuit and didn't capture any footage," Xavier replied truthfully.
Lance sneered coldly, "Typical of Eula's style."
Hearing this, Xavier looked surprised but then showed a look of realization.
He wasn't a fool; connecting this with previous reports from subordinates, he quickly understood the key points.
"So it was Avery who came to see the old lady."
"Whether it was or not, have someone interrogate him. No need to hold back," Lance ordered coldly. Anyone daring to harm those under his protection right under his nose was courting death!
Xavier nodded in understanding.
Soon, he went to where Avery was being held.
Seeing him, Avery raised an eyebrow. "According to your country's laws, detaining someone privately is illegal."
"It is illegal, but compared to what you've done, this is nothing. Tell me, did your master send you to the hospital to harm Old Ashley?" Xavier got straight to the point.
Avery squinted his eyes and stared at Xavier calmly, showing no panic. "I don't know what you're talking about. I went to the hospital because I felt unwell."
"Looks like you won't confess without getting hurt," Xavier said as he clapped his hands. Two bodyguards approached with whips in hand.
He instructed them, "Do it by the book. Don't stop until he tells the truth."
The bodyguards nodded and moved towards Avery with their whips.
Seeing this, Avery's previously nonchalant expression turned serious.
"Xavier, you should know that if you harm me, my master won't let you off!"
"You should worry about whether you'll leave here alive. Do you think Mr. Mercer divided assets with your master for no reason? Capturing you is just the first step. There are many more plans targeting you," Xavier said without hesitation.
In his view, if Eula insisted on not returning their Missus, Mr. Mercer dealing with Eula was just a matter of time.
At this moment, Avery finally realized they might have fallen for a trap!
