In the evening, Deanna was busy in the kitchen, cooking personally.
Lance wanted to help but was politely ushered out.
"Mr. Mercer, if you really want to help me, it's better if you just sit down," Deanna said seriously, wearing an apron.
Lance was speechless, wanting to argue but had to admit that Deanna was right.
He sat on the sofa, quietly watching her busy figure, a different emotion flickering in his heart.
About an hour later, the aroma wafted from the kitchen.
Soon, various dishes were brought to the dining table.
Lance stepped forward and couldn't help but be amazed.
In such a short time, Deanna had prepared five or six dishes and a soup. It looked quite sumptuous.
Feeling Lance's gaze, Deanna rubbed her hands, a bit embarrassed. "I made some homemade dishes, Mr. Mercer. I hope you don't mind."
Lance shook his head. "Not at all."
To be honest, he hadn't felt this kind of homely atmosphere in a long time.
Everyone sat at the dining table and began to eat.
Although they were just homemade dishes, Deanna's cooking skills were no less than those of a restaurant chef.
Xavier, who had seen a lot of the world, also praised her after taking a bite.
"Dr. Deanna, I didn't expect your cooking to be so good! We're really in for a treat today."
"This is delicious!"
Xavier's ravenous manner made it seem like he hadn't eaten in days.
Deanna couldn't help but laugh. "Mr. Nelson, eat slower."
Compared to Xavier's exaggerated manner, Lance was much calmer.
He picked up some food and put it in his mouth with an elegant demeanor.
As soon as he tasted it, a unique flavor blossomed in his mouth.
He had to admit, the taste was indeed excellent.
"Mr. Mercer, given your current health condition, you can eat these as long as they're not too heavy," Deanna said from beside him.
Given Lance's previous condition, he rarely ate such dishes.
Lance nodded. "Alright."
Next to him, the two little ones were also very enthusiastic.
The two kids kept putting food into Lance's bowl. "Handsome Uncle, try this. Mommy's ribs are especially delicious!"
"And this too, Handsome Uncle, you should try this."
Before long, Lance's bowl was piled high like a small mountain.
Deanna laughed and quickly stopped them. "Alright, you two hurry and eat by yourselves. Uncle won't be able to eat anymore!"
Chloe stuck out her tongue playfully. "I just want Uncle to eat more."
Lance smiled. "It's okay."
After dinner, Gregory reached out his small hand and tugged at Lance's sleeve.
"Handsome Uncle, can you play chess with me?"
Lance raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised. "You know how to play chess?"
Gregory nodded. "Yes!"
Then, the big and small sat opposite each other and started playing chess.
Lance initially thought Gregory was just playing around but was surprised to find that the little guy actually knew what he was doing.
He hadn't noticed before that several of his pieces had already been captured by the little guy.
Xavier was even more shocked.
He widened his eyes in amazement. Were kids nowadays really this good? Gregory's chess skills were even better than his-unbelievable!
Seeing Gregory's adept manner, Lance couldn't help but ask, "Gregory, have you taken any chess lessons before?"
Gregory shook his head. "No, Handsome Uncle."
He blinked his bright eyes. "I just played on my phone for a while and learned it."
Indeed, Gregory's casual tone sent a heavy blow to Xavier.
Standing beside them, Xavier felt hurt.
Lance smiled warmly. "Gregory is amazing, learning it all by himself."
Chloe watched Lance play with her brother for so long and felt a bit jealous.
She pouted and ran over to them. "Handsome Uncle, you've been playing with my brother for so long. Isn't it my turn now?"
Lance asked, "Chloe, do you also play chess?"
Chloe shook her head playfully. "Nope, I want Handsome Uncle to build Lego with me!"
Without waiting for Lance to respond, she pulled him directly to her toy room.
Xavier followed behind and was once again shocked by what he saw.
The Lego set Chloe wanted them to build had over ten thousand pieces and was extremely challenging!
Xavier sighed again. Was the gap between people really this big?
Back when he was three or four years old, he was still playing in the mud.
Somehow, he felt these two kids were even smarter than him.
Lance stood by calmly.
He squatted down and started building Lego with Chloe.
Not only did they build it correctly, but they also did it very quickly...
Deanna walked out and saw this scene.
