Chapter 111 Missing Uncle

Gregory rarely got sick.

Suddenly having a fever must have been from the scare during the day. Now it was raining, and the temperature had dropped, naturally causing a chill.

Deanna held the child, increasingly worried.

As time passed, she held Gregory tightly, not daring to be careless.

He had taken the fever medicine, but Gregory's temperature continued to rise instead of falling.

This couldn't go on.

Without proper medical equipment at home, they couldn't stay any longer.

Finally, at six o'clock, as the sky began to lighten, Deanna put on her coat, dressed Gregory, and rushed to the hospital.

"Doctor, please take a look at my child. He's had a high fever since last night..."

The doctor took the child and said, "Alright, don't worry."

In the ward, Gregory lay quietly on the bed, receiving an IV drip.

After a lot of effort, his fever finally subsided.

Deanna sat by the bed, holding the little guy's hand tightly, her eyes filled with indescribable heartache.

Just then, her phone rang.

She picked it up; it was a call from the housekeeper.

Deanna remembered she had promised to water the plants today.

"Dr. Deanna, are you coming over today?"

Deanna looked at Gregory on the bed and said, "I won't be coming today. The child is still in the hospital. He suddenly had a fever in the middle of the night, and I need to take care of him."

"Could you please water the plants for me today? Just the seeds outside, not the ones in the greenhouse."

"Alright, Dr. Deanna."

After instructing the housekeeper, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.

...

In the afternoon, Lance went to the estate as usual.

He expected to see Deanna but only found the housekeeper there.

He frowned and asked, "Is Dr. Deanna not here today?"

The housekeeper put down his tools and replied, "I called Dr. Deanna this morning. She said she couldn't come today because her child had a fever in the middle of the night and needed care."

"Sick? Is he alright?"

Lance's eyes darkened as he recalled Gregory's cramp in the water yesterday.

Deanna's anxiety and fear were evident to him then.

For a moment, he began to worry too.

"I'm not sure about that..."

Lance turned and got back into his car. Xavier quickly followed.

"Mr. Mercer."

Lance gave a slight nod. "Find out which hospital Deanna is in now."

His tone was firm and unquestionable.

Xavier was a bit surprised but nodded. "Yes, Mr. Mercer."

...

In the ward, after finishing the IV drip, Gregory's complexion improved significantly, and he woke up.

Deanna looked at him, her brows full of worry.

"Do you still feel uncomfortable?"

Gregory leaned against the pillow and shook his head. "Mommy, I'm much better now. Don't worry about me!"

His mature demeanor made him even more endearing.

Deanna reached out and touched his head.

Just as she was about to say something, she heard footsteps outside the door.

Looking up, she saw Lance and Xavier walking in.

Deanna was visibly surprised. "Mr. Mercer, why are you here?"

Lance walked over to Gregory and replied, "I heard the child was sick and couldn't rest easy. I came to check on him."

Lance's presence made Gregory very happy.

He smiled as if he had forgotten all about his earlier discomfort.

"Handsome Uncle, why are you here? I missed you when I didn't see you."

Lance smiled too, gently patting Gregory's head. "Uncle missed you too. See? I'm here now."

"How do you feel now? Better?"

The little guy nodded eagerly. "I'm better now; the fever is gone!"

After confirming that the child was alright, Lance finally relaxed.

"That's good."

Deanna stood by and couldn't help but thank him. "Mr. Mercer, thank you for coming to see Gregory."

Honestly, when he suddenly appeared, her heart felt warm.

"It's nothing. If you need anything, just call me."

At that moment, Old Ashley walked in from outside.

Seeing Lance and Xavier, she was delighted.

She warmly said, "Mr. Mercer is here too! Perfect timing. It's getting late; if you don't mind, why don't you stay for dinner?"

Old Ashley continued talking while glancing at Deanna.

Seeing Old Ashley's look, Deanna quickly said, "No matter how busy work is, you still need to eat."

"Mr. Mercer, it's rare for you to come by. Stay for dinner tonight."

With Deanna personally inviting him, Lance had no choice but to agree.
