Lance stated his purpose directly.
Eula, upon hearing it, was unable to accept it. "You want to sever ties with me?"
She looked at Lance angrily.
Their eyes met.
Lance's expression remained unchanged. "To correct you, there has never been any relationship between us, only a partnership of interests. Moreover, I am not discussing this with you; I am informing you. Whether you agree or not, the outcome will not change. If I were you, I would check the contract for any loopholes."
Eula was left speechless and could only sit on the sofa opposite Lance, picking up the contract to review it.
The contract was impeccably fair and just, leaving Eula with no grounds for complaint.
She did not want to end the partnership with Lance, as it meant fewer opportunities to be around him. If Deanna's misfortune was confirmed, she would lose a significant advantage to make an impression.
Lance could see through her resistance.
He signaled Xavier to pass the pen and said coldly, "Sign it if there are no issues. My people are ready to leave once you sign, as per the contract."
"Lance, do you really have to be so ruthless? We once faced life and death together!"
Eula tried to use their past bond to change Lance's mind.
But she didn't realize that any bond had long dissipated when she plotted against Deanna.
Lance gave a mocking smile and looked at her coldly. "So you remember we faced life and death together. I thought you forgot when you plotted against my fiancée and unborn child. Eula, understand this: the truly heartless person is you!"
Hearing this, Eula knew Lance still blamed her for what happened to Deanna.
She forced a bitter smile and said helplessly, "How many times do I have to say it? I had nothing to do with Deanna. I admire you and want to be with you, but I know that harming Deanna would only push you away."
Lance watched her act with cold eyes, his face full of sarcasm.
Eula saw this and felt furious inside.
Why was Lance so stubborn?
She had already presented so much evidence proving it wasn't her!
"Fine, even if you think I harmed Deanna, where's the evidence? Words alone aren't enough; I won't accept any slander!"
"Eula, you know very well I have no evidence."
Lance's cold eyes bore into her. "You're smart and capable, the most troublesome person I've encountered in years. But I will find evidence eventually. You better pray Deanna and my child are safe; otherwise, I will spare no effort to make you suffer!"
His voice turned particularly icy at the end.
Eula shivered under his sinister gaze.
In the end, Eula signed the contract, parting ways with Lance on bad terms.
Back home, the more she thought about what happened today, the angrier she became.
Why? Why!
She had made so many arrangements but failed to achieve her goal.
Now she even lost her partnership with Lance!
"If Lance suspects me regardless of whether I did it or not, then doing nothing makes me look weak. Avery, go spread the news about Deanna's misfortune among her family!"
"Yes!"
Avery nodded and left to carry out the order.
Unbeknownst to him, someone followed him as soon as he left.
The follower was highly skilled, and Avery didn't notice.
When Avery arrived at Old Ashley's hospital, the follower reported it immediately to Xavier.
Xavier received the message and went straight to Lance. "Mr. Mercer, Eula's subordinate Avery went to Old Ashley's hospital after following Eula back home. Our people found it suspicious and asked if they should catch him."
"Catch him!"
Lance agreed without hesitation.
Then he coldly asked, "Any movement from Eula?"
Xavier shook his head. "After returning home, Eula hasn't left."
Just as he finished speaking, Lance's phone rang. It was Gunner calling.
"Lance, come to the hospital quickly; something has happened."
"What happened?"
Lance instinctively asked.
But at that moment, possibly due to the severity of the situation, Gunner had already hung up.
Realizing this possibility, Lance's expression changed drastically. He grabbed his car keys and coat from the chair and hurried out. "Something happened at the hospital; let's go!"
Seeing Mr. Mercer's anxious expression, Xavier dared not ask more and quickly followed.
