Chapter 1116: The Truth Uncovered

Mr. and Mrs. Poole were stunned by Deanna's words.

Mrs. Poole suddenly reached over and grabbed Dayton's ear, who was sitting in the passenger seat, and angrily said, "Tell me, did you bully Kamila before? Did you make her undergo surgery?"

Dayton yelped in pain and quickly defended himself, "Mom, Kamila said the hospital looked familiar because she might have been there when she was sick. Why do you think I bullied her and did something like that?"

By the end of his explanation, he felt wronged.

Mrs. Poole, feeling she might have misunderstood her son, released her grip but still huffed, "It's because you're usually unreliable."

"Even if I'm unreliable, you should trust me. I may be a bit of a troublemaker, but I've never caused any serious harm."

Dayton couldn't help but plead his case.

Deanna listened to their exchange, a smile tugging at her lips.

Indeed, when feeling down, teasing Dayton could lift her spirits.

Yes, Deanna had said those things on purpose.

Thus, amidst the bickering, they returned to Dayton's villa.

In the end, Mr. and Mrs. Poole couldn't take Deanna away.

Firstly, Dayton disagreed, and secondly, Deanna politely declined.

Deanna felt that her relationship with Dayton might be fake. Accepting Mr. and Mrs. Poole's care would put a lot of pressure on her.

Later, after seeing off Mr. and Mrs. Poole, Dayton approached Deanna, looking guilty and hesitant.

Deanna noticed his gaze and raised an eyebrow, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Um, earlier in the car, you said you remembered some things. Are you starting to regain your memory?"

Dayton asked tentatively.

Deanna saw his reaction and didn't hide it. She nodded, "Yes, I'm slowly regaining my memory."

"How much have you remembered? Have you recalled anything significant?"

Dayton asked again, his heart racing.

Deanna noticed his nervousness and deliberately remained silent, locking eyes with him.

Their gazes met, making Dayton feel even guiltier. "Why are you staring at me?"

"Nothing, just that you seem very afraid of me remembering the past."

Deanna pointed out Dayton's greatest fear.

Dayton froze, his mind racing to figure out how to respond.

Fortunately, he had some quick wit. He immediately said, "I'm just afraid that if you remember the past and leave me, my parents won't let me off the hook."

Deanna saw through his poor excuse and became serious.

"Dayton, I may have lost my memory, but I'm not stupid. Don't treat me like a fool."

She decided to confront the issue head-on.

Not just because she didn't want to deceive Mr. and Mrs. Poole, but also because she had been feeling a constant sense of unease these past few days.

This feeling made her very uncomfortable, as if she were about to lose something important.

Dayton was momentarily dazed by Deanna's cold gaze. It reminded him of the look Lance gave him when he provoked him years ago-cold and ruthless.

Unaware of Dayton's wandering thoughts, Deanna continued, "Based on my observations over these days, our relationship isn't as you described. We're not a couple. Moreover, you're very afraid of me being discovered by someone else. So you must know who I am."

Her last sentence was stated with certainty.

Seeing that she had almost figured out the truth, Dayton knew there was no point in denying it anymore. He shrugged and walked over to sit on the sofa, nodding in acknowledgment.

"You're right about everything. We're not a couple. I know who you are."

"So who am I? What's my real name? Why did you lie to me?"

Deanna frowned and questioned him.

Dayton replied, "Your name is Deanna Jones from Cloudmere. You have two children and a fiancé. As for why I lied to you, it's because I have a grudge against your fiancé. He embarrassed me back then. Hiding you away to make him worry isn't too much to ask, is it?"

Deanna was speechless for a moment upon hearing Dayton's reason but found it fitting for his level of intelligence.

Dayton continued, "Besides, I saved you and took good care of you. Making Lance worry for a while isn't too much to ask."

Indeed, it wasn't too much to ask.

No matter what, it was true that Dayton had saved her.

But her unease drove her to say seriously, "I want to go back."

"No way!"

Dayton refused without hesitation.

Deanna looked at him.

Before she could say anything else, Dayton quickly added, "Don't say anything more. Until I've had my revenge on Lance, you can't go back!"

With that said, he fled the living room because he feared that if he stayed any longer, Deanna would hit him.

He didn't dare lay a hand on Deanna.
