The large villa was brightly lit.
Not long after, the sound of an engine came from the yard. Dayton quickly got out of the car and walked into the living room.
The butler saw him and immediately approached, smelling a mix of alcohol, perfume, and tobacco. He looked disapproving. "Mr. Poole, you've been to the bar again. If your father hears about this, you'll get another scolding."
"It doesn't matter. Let him scold if he wants," Dayton waved dismissively and then asked, "You called me earlier and said the woman on the second floor woke up?"
The butler nodded, "Yes, she woke up but has amnesia. I called a doctor to check on her. He said it's due to shock and trauma, causing short-term memory loss."
Dayton was astonished. "Amnesia?"
Despite his words, he felt an inexplicable urge to laugh. He knew Lance had been frantically searching for this woman.
Thinking about it, he couldn't help but sigh inwardly. He didn't know what kind of fate led him to save Lance's fiancée, who now had amnesia. If he didn't seize this opportunity to mess with Lance, he'd be wasting a golden chance.
The butler, unaware of Dayton's thoughts, asked, "Should we call the police to help her find her family?"
Having lived abroad with Dayton for many years, the butler wasn't familiar with domestic affairs and didn't know Deanna's identity.
Dayton quickly stopped him, "No need. I know this woman; there's no need to call the police."
The butler was surprised. "You know her?"
"Yes," Dayton nodded, thinking about his plan. Without the butler's cooperation, he couldn't proceed.
Seeing this, the butler relaxed and smiled, "Since you know her, it's easier. When do you plan to inform her family? You should be returning home in a couple of days."
"I'm not planning to inform her family yet. I want to take her back with me," Dayton revealed his plan.
The butler was puzzled, "Why?"
"Because this woman belongs to Lance. Over the years, I've been exiled abroad because of Lance and have been mocked by people in our circle. Now that fate has given me this chance, I must take revenge on Lance," Dayton said with a cold snort.
The butler was shocked by his words.
Dayton continued, "Besides, my grandmother wants to set me up on a blind date when I return. This woman can help me fend off their matchmaking efforts. From now on, the woman upstairs is my fiancée. Let's call her Kamila Faulkner."
The butler was stunned by his words.
"Mr. Poole, you should reconsider. Mr. Mercer has a bad temper these days. If you mess with him and that lady, your father won't be able to protect you," the butler advised earnestly. "Since she's Mr. Mercer's fiancée, we should contact him and return her. Maybe we'll even gain his gratitude."
Dayton scoffed at this suggestion. "Who needs Lance's gratitude? Besides, I'm just hiding his fiancée's whereabouts. What can he do? Kill me? I saved his fiancée and her child's life. Without me, they would have drowned."
Yes, Deanna was pregnant again. Despite jumping into the sea and getting shot, she hadn't lost the baby.
The butler was at a loss for words.
Dayton decided on his plan and warned the butler, "From now on, the woman upstairs is Kamila, my girlfriend. The child she's carrying is mine. If you dare reveal the truth and ruin my plan, you know how I can be."
The butler was speechless and thought Mr. Poole was being reckless.
"There are many holes in this plan. What if she asks about her injuries? And even if I don't tell her the truth, she might find out through the internet. Mr. Poole, maybe you should reconsider."
"No way! This is my chance to see Lance suffer. I'll cut off her internet access!" Dayton was determined and left without giving the butler a chance to speak further. "I'm going to check on her."
