Eula raised her eyebrows and said, "There are indeed many excellent men in the world, but the only one who can conquer me is him. Do you understand why it has to be him?"
Avery didn't know what to say and silently applied the medicine for her.
For a moment, the atmosphere in the living room was somewhat silent.
After an unknown amount of time, a phone ringing broke the silence.
It was Avery's phone.
He took it out and saw that it was a call from Bella.
"Why aren't you answering?" Eula asked, noticing he hadn't answered the call immediately.
Avery handed the phone over and said, "It's Bella calling."
"It's her!" Eula raised her eyebrows and continued, "By now, she should have arrived in Abla."
Avery nodded and then answered the call. "What's up?"
On the other end, Bella's mood seemed off as she replied, "Deanna ran away."
"What did you say?" Avery was shocked by Bella's words and then angrily said, "Are you useless? I gave you so many people, and you still let her escape!"
Eula, overhearing this, immediately looked displeased.
Although she didn't hear Bella's words, she could easily guess the situation from Avery's reaction.
Bella, bearing Avery's anger, felt a bit scared and corrected herself, "Actually, she didn't exactly run away; she's just missing."
Hearing this, Avery frowned deeply and asked in a harsh tone, "What exactly happened?"
"Here's what happened..." Bella recounted how Deanna escaped.
Finally, she added, "I had people watching the sea, but we never saw her surface. I also sent people to search nearby places where she could have come ashore, but we didn't find her."
"Could she have been rescued?" Avery asked in a deep voice.
Bella replied, "Probably not. At that time, there was no other boat on the sea except ours. But I think even if Deanna escaped, she wouldn't survive. I shot her while she was escaping; she bled a lot and was in the sea. She might have been eaten by sharks."
It wasn't impossible.
However, Avery still felt uneasy and instructed, "Whether she escaped or was eaten by sharks, continue searching the area. Also, send me the footage of Deanna's escape."
"Got it," Bella said before hanging up.
After putting down his phone, Avery reported to Eula without waiting for her to ask, "Deanna jumped into the sea to escape while approaching the shore. According to Bella, she might have been eaten by sharks."
Eula frowned upon hearing this.
"What happened? Why did Deanna have the strength to escape?"
"They said she got sick midway. The doctor advised against using that drug; otherwise, it would ruin her."
Avery relayed Bella's words.
Eula thought Deanna couldn't die so easily and instructed, "Notify the person in charge of that sea area. Arrest any woman who looks like Deanna. Also, check all hospitals for gunshot wounds."
"Understood," Avery replied and was about to leave when he was stopped again.
"Wait, there's one more thing I need you to arrange," Eula said.
"What is it?" Avery asked.
Eula continued, "Find a way to inform Lance that Bella hired international mercenaries to capture Deanna. Do it cleanly. Also, handle Bella properly so Lance doesn't find out anything."
Blaming Bella was a conclusion Eula had long planned.
As long as Lance believed Deanna's disappearance had nothing to do with her, her plan would be completely successful.
By then, once her identity was revealed, she could openly stay by Lance's side. She believed she could win him over eventually.
Even if she couldn't win over Lance, he wouldn't ignore Deanna's two children.
Eula had thoroughly exploited Deanna.
Lance knew nothing about this.
He had slept for a few hours with the two little ones when he suddenly woke up from a nightmare.
In his dream, he saw Deanna covered in blood, crying and calling out in pain. But he couldn't do anything and could only watch as she bled.
Recalling this, Lance clenched his fists tightly and repeatedly comforted himself.
Dreams are always the opposite; Deanna will be fine.
Perhaps this self-hypnosis worked as he gradually calmed his inner worries. He turned to look at the two little ones beside him, intending to give them a good morning kiss. But he noticed an unusual flush on their cheeks.
Lance quickly reached out to touch their foreheads and found them burning hot.
Without bothering to put on shoes, he hurriedly ran out of the room and knocked on Gunner's door.
