Chapter 40 – Guess, who am I?

Jack’s POV

“What the bloody hell” Shout Kevin.

So, this is a game.

My life is game to someone. They think playing with me and my family is funny.

They enjoy this.

I swear to God if anything happens to Zoe, hell will break loose.

I won’t think before ripping their arms one by one. And the same game with all of their family members.

No- one play games with me unless they want to die.

Now I will show them how it is really played.

No more afraid Jack who cares for everyone.

Now KING will play.

And play hard.

Even if that means murdering anyone anywhere. Even if in front of Zoe.

King doesn’t go hunting.

King orders and king executes.

“Kevin. Get the car ready. We are going in mansion” I yell.

“But-“ my one glance shut him up.

I made my way down the stairs.

Any unwanted voice irritates me.

Zoe is missing.

Someone took her.

“Please let us go” I heard the high pitch voice of girl pleading.

The muffled voice of her cries.

What if Zoe is crying too?

The voice came from ground floor, the room we previously were in.

I made my way to them. Grab the girl by arm and made her sit on table.

She immediately went silent when I look her in eyes.

The sound of only her labored breathing only thing audible in the eerie silence.

“When did you come here?” I ask.

“2 days b-back” She stuttered.

“Did you see anyone in this building in 2 day?” I ask.

Her eyes move to the boy. She is asking for his approval.

So, I need to fish information out.

I pulled out my gun and shot on boy’s thigh. He cried out in pain.

“No” She jump down only to be held by me.

“We were broke. A couple gave us money and asked us to set that table in return” She confess.

“Tell us their description” Kevin said.

“Girl was tall with porcelain skin and black hair. And guy was attractive with hazel eyes, black hair and beard” She said.

“Hmm. Aarav and crystal” Said Kevin.

No. This is setup.

They would have set this up.

Someone wants us to think that Aarav and Crystal are the culprit. But crystal won’t do such mistake.

Crystal is experienced and well trained.

If she was going to do it then she would have sent someone else.

I nod and left the building. Kevin hot on his heels behind me.

“They played us” Said Kevin.

I slide in the driver seat, at the same time Kevin slide in passenger seat.

I ignite the engine. We zoomed out of the place.

The only thought that ran in my mind throughout the ride was, ‘Zoe is missing’

The world is not safe. This world is the home of monsters. I don’t want her to be the victim of these monsters because of me.

I dragged her in my world without thinking straight.

I dragged her and let her to roam freely without proper protection.

I dragged her in without her knowledge.

She was in dark the whole time.

The fuck! She was healing the girls broken by me.

She is most important part of my life and I can’t lose her.

The nagging feeling in my stomach won’t go away.

The fear seems to settle more and more in the pit of my stomach. Something bad is going to happen.

Soon we reached the place where I left Zoe.

Every culprit leaves behind a proof. We just need to find that evidence out.

The guards were standing outside, I could see the fear in their eyes when I park the car.

I got out. The security head came running to me.

“K-k-king’s mother is s-shot and father is unconscious” He said.

Without saying a word, I pulled my gun out and shot him between his eyes.

Everyone seem to be terrified.

I went inside.

Riley sat on the couch, griffins head on her lap and her hand wrapped in bandages.

She soon as she saw me her face went red.

“YOU” She shout.

“Where are my children? You bastard. Where is Aarav? Where is Zoe?” she shouts. Tears flowing from her eyes like river. Her face only held pain.

Zoe has almost same features as her mother. I caused her pain.

“We will find them” Assured Kevin but that seem to backfire.

“Find them huh?! Find them? I lost my child. My innocent Aarav is missing. My Zoe.” Her voice full of helplessness.

I kneel in front of her, “I will find her but tell me what happened, okay? “

I hold her hands and gave her a minute to compose herself.

She is mother. She must feel more than me.

She looked me in the eyes and gave her to most sincere look.

“Zoe went in the bathroom to clean up. I was waiting outside when the two bodyguards you sent for her safety dragged Griffin inside the room and hit him in head.” She said sobbing.

“By the time I could do anything Zoe had opened her bathroom door. So, I lunged forward in order to save my child” She could barely talk at this point. She put her hand on her mouth to muffle her helpless cries.

And each word she said brought pain in my chest that seem to increase with every word.

This time along with the pain came the fear. First time I am afraid.

Afraid of losing her.

Afraid of losing her forever.

“I saw the guy push her out of the window. I tried…. I tried so had to save protect her” She choked on her own tears.

“He threw her out of the window?” asked Kevin in shock.

“From second floor” added Riley. Anger rose in me.

“Oh my god,” whisper Kevin under his breath.

“I will bring them back” I silently promise her and got up.

Taking deep breath, ’Keep calm’ I repeat in my head “Where the fuck is that window?” I shout.

A guard showed me the way.

The window was about 30 feet high.

A worn-out mattress lay on the ground.

“Have you touched anything?” I asked in deadly cold tone.

“N-No king” The guard replied.

I nod and inspect the mattress.

At least they thought of throwing her on mattress instead of on the ground.

But I saw few blood stains on the edge of the mattress.

Meanwhile Kevin was talking to the other guards.

The blood was recently clotted, I could tell by its color and thickness.

I lift the matters from the blood-stained edge and saw a sharp stone pierced inside the mattress.

Meaning who ever fell on it colloid with the edge of the stone.

I just hope it wasn’t Zoe.

“I just talked to angel. She is safe with max in mansion” Said Kevin.

“I thought angel was in safe house” I said looking at him.

“I thought the same” Said Kevin.

“You called angel now?” I ask.

“No. Her phone was not reachable earlier. So, I thought Elijah might have switched her phone off or something” He said looking at me.

“And?” I asked waiting for more.

The look on his face told me he was terrified.

The way he swallowed before talking pointed out his nervousness.

“Angel called me now from a guard’s phone. She said she was never moved out of the mansion. “

“What the fuck?” I ask “Yes. And she said Elijah is in mansion with crystal”

I nod taking deep breath. Finally. Finally, something on our side.

Finally, some progress.

“There is more” He added.

Another bad news?

“A girl came in the room and she saw everything. Elijah never appoints a girl for work. “

“So? “

“The girl is missing too,” he said.

We have a serious talking to do.

What the hell is going on?

Why the hell angel wasn’t moved out?

We wanted the mansion clear because all the dirty work happened there, and we don’t want anyone to witness that Why did Elijah lie?

What if he caught crystal and decided to keep angel safe with him?

Anyways angel was never the Snoopy one.

But why didn’t Elijah inform me that he caught crystal?

“He might have caught crystal and decided to keep angel safe with him” Kevin said while rushing towards my car.

He stopped in his tracks when his phone buzzed. I saw color of his face slowly evaporating.

“I don’t think so” Added Kevin “Let’s talk in car” I said walking ahead.

“No” He yell.

I ignore him and continued walking. There is no more information that we can collect from here.

“Stop” Called Kevin.

I didn’t stop walking.

“Stop” He order me.

I clench my jaw and turn to see him looking at me angrily.

I grabbed his collar and warn “you don’t get to order me”

He wasn’t intimidated by me.

“Don’t forget. We are kings. Not only you” He replied in equally deadly tone.

I growl and punch him right on his jaw.

He stumbles back from the impact.

“This is what he wants” He said laughing.

“What?” I asked astonished.

“He wants to break us.” He replied.

“Who?” I ask taking step towards him.

“Think about it jack. How can you be so naïve?” He shook my shoulder.

“How can we be so naïve?” He said pulling his hair.

His body language told me that he had the information that I didn’t, and I won’t like that piece of information either.

“We are played by our own blood” He yell punching the wall.

What the hell is he talking about?

“What’s going on?” I ask getting irritated.

His body shook with anger as he spoke.

“You won’t believe me if I tell you jack. I will ask you question and you will know” He said.

“It’s no time for games Kevin” I shout.

“Was Sam in the state to run?” He ask.

I shook my head. He was not. How can a person be in the cell without food? Without sunlight. Without any sense of day and night formulate a plan and actually succeed.

Never.

I have seen people go mad in the cell within two months.

“Was Amy capable to escape, let alone help Sam to escape?” He ask.

I shook my head.

Amy was depressed after Richard. She was kept in dark about our business.

And she was not trained to escape this tight security.

She must have had help.

“Someone might have helped her. We have already had this talk before.” I said getting irritated.

“Yes, we know this theory but who do you think might have helped?” He ask.

“We don’t know” I replied.

“Exactly. Now tell me, was Aarav capable of going against you?” He ask.

He was always against me, but he was not capable.

I shook my head.

“Who do you think would be able to pay so high amount for a used girl?” Ask Kevin.

“Someone really rich” I replied like a dumb.

“I asked my hacker to check the transactions made by the Julian’s family. No transaction was as big as this.” He told me My eyes widen at realization.

“Do you think crystal would be able to plan this all by herself?” He ask.

No. Crystal stood no chance against Elijah’s security. No one ever stood the chance against his brain. He was smart. He was cautious.

And this is the problem. No one stood the chance and now someone has barged right in our system.

“Who gave the idea of releasing your personal collection?” He ask.

“Elijah” I replied. I remember Elijah laughed his ass off when I told him about Zoe. He said if I really love her then I should give up other girls.

“Who was in charge of Zoe’s security from the starting?” He ask.

“Elijah”

“Exactly” He yell.

“But – “ I stood there.

This can’t be it.

Why would Elijah ditch us?

Why would he take Zoe?

What if someone is trying to frame him?
