Her Betrayal
Next day Avika woke up and saw Samar still sleeping. She slowly got up not to disturb him. She took a shower and got ready near the dressing table. She found him still sleeping.
"Samar, wake up. You will be late to your office. Don't scold me again saying that I didn't wake you up. Wake up, Mr. Handsome."
Samar didn't wake up. She went near to him and placed her hand on his forehead to wake him up. But she realized that his forehead is burning. She understood that he got fever. She called the doctor. The doctor gave an injection to him and prescribed a few medicines.
Avika sat near him. Still he didn't open his eyes. She never saw him like this. He didn't open his eyes and talk to her. He was her only strength, and him lying on the bed like that worried her. Her mind totally stopped thinking.
Samar opened his eyes after two hours. He tried to say something. His voice is very low. She bent near to him.
"Didn't you go to the office?" he said.
"No. I won't go anywhere until you recover. I will bring the soup for you."
Suddenly Avika's phone rang. She went to the balcony to talk. Her PA called her to remind about her meetings today.
"I am not coming to the office. Cancel all the meetings and appointments for a week. I am switching off my mobile. Sort out if any problem comes up by yourself."
Avika disconnected the call and switched her mobile off. She prepared soup for him. He had it and she gave him tablets to him.
"Avika, go to your office. Don't spoil your career for me. It's just a fever. I will recover soon. You should go to your office."
"No. I can't. If you need anything who will help you?"
"Maid is there."
"I can't leave you alone in the house when you are unwell. I can't depend on a maid to take care of you."
"Don't argue. I said to go to the office. Now just go," he said seriously.
Avika didn't understand his seriousness. She didn't talk anything wrong. It's her responsibility to take care of her love. But she didn't want him to shout at her. So, she silently got up and went from there to sit in the hall. She didn't want to go to the office leaving him alone.
After some time, Avika heard sounds coming from their room. She went running to Samar. Everything she had placed on the table was thrown down. She looked at him.
"Actually I thought to drink some water, but I am unable to stretch my hand. It's hurting a lot. So unfortunately everything fell down in my trials to take water," Samar said.
Avika went down and brought water for him. She made him to take water.
"You should have called me," Avika said normally.
"But I thought you went to the office as I said."
"If I leave to the office who will care for you?"
"Thank you. But if you leave your office like this for me, you may lose the deals."
"It's ok. You worth more than those deals. Because you are my life."
Avika cleaned the floor and set the table. She noticed Samar looking at her.
"I am hungry," Samar said.
"Ok, I will bring something for you to eat."
"But not soup or juice."
"Then?"
"Something tasty."
"Doctor said you should take only light food. I will bring soup which you will like. Don't worry."
I brought soup for him which he likes and fed him.
"Is it tasty?"
"Yes, but not as tasty as your lips," he said looking at my lips.
"My dear husband, it's not time for the romance. It's time for medicines," I said opening medicines.
He immediately laid on the bed covering with a blanket completely.
"Samar, take this tablet and sleep. Get up."
I tried to take away the blanket, but in vain.
"Please, get up."
"Don't act like a child. Get up, Mr. handsome."
"Ok. I will give you a kiss. Get up and take the tablet now."
He removed the blanket and took the tablet calmly.
"Give me."
"What?"
"You said you will give something if I take the tablet."
"Really? I don't remember."
"This is cheating," he pouted.
Samar was damn cute in that posture. Avika gave up teasing him. She went near to him and kissed him. He took her more close responding to her kiss. He smiled leaving her.
"I guess now my fever cures soon."
Avika smiled at his naughtiness. Within five days, he recovered completely from the fever. Avika went to the office. In the evening, she was returning to the home. On the way, she saw Prema (Samar's sis) near a bridge. She stopped the car and went to her. Prema was about to jump off the bridge. Avika held her hand.
"Prema, what are you doing?"
Prema hugged Avika with tears.
"Avika, I love Virat."
"Virat?? I didn't understand what you are saying."
Avika took her to the car and they both went to a nearby park.
"Now tell me why did you try to suicide? Whatever may be the problem, suicide is not the solution. You are not alone. You have parents, a brother, and me too. We will do anything for you."
"I love Virat. He is my brother's business rival. Even though Virat went to Samar to talk about our marriage. But Samar rejected the proposal and insulted him. I can't live without him. That's why I thought of killing myself."
"But I don't think Samar will give more importance to rivalry than you. I will talk to him. Don't worry."
"Thank you," Prema said and hugged Avika.
"But promise me that until then you will not make any hasty decisions. I will definitely get you married to your love."
"I promise I won't do anything."
Avika dropped Prema at her home and went to their home. Samar came late to the home. She served dinner to him. He had it and went to the room.
"I want to talk something to you."
"Yes, sweet heart. Tell me."
"Today I met Prema."
I told everything to him.
"Now you sleep, Avika. I am tired."
Avika was in shock as Samar didn't react as though she had just told him that his sister had attempted suicide. He called his parents and told them not to send Prema outside alone.
"Avika, Virat is not a good person. He is a womanizer. He trapped Prema to take revenge against me because he is my business rival. If he was a good person, I would have put all my hatred aside and let my sister get married to him as she loved him. But no. If I agreed to their marriage, Prema's life would be spoiled. I told her this already. But her love blindfolded her, and she didn't trust me or my words. I should have informed you of this earlier. I am sorry for not doing so."
"Prema didn't say all this to me. I am sorry for doubting you and mistaking your decision."
"It's ok. I really didn't mean that you shouldn't know these things. But as we both became a bit busy these days, I didn't find time to tell you these things. However as a daughter-in-law of this house, you should know what's happening in our family. I promise I won't let it happen again."
There will be many people who order their wives not to hide anything from them but they will hide many things from her. But Samar is not like that. Until now Samar shared everything with Avika and this is the first time he didn't and he gave explanation to her as if he did something wrong. Avika felt happy as Samar always maintains equality in their relationship.
"We should make Prema understand the truth."
"I explained, but she didn't understand. However, I am fixing her alliance with my best friend Abhijith. He is perfect for her."
"But Samar, we should make her understand and accept your decision. If we force her into a marriage without her acceptance, it will do no good to her or Abhijith."
"Ok, then you try once to convince her. Tomorrow you go and visit her if you are free."
"Sure. I will."
The next day, Avika went to Prema. She took blessings from mom and dad. They spoke with her normally. When they left the house because of her, she felt very bad. She wished that soon they would stay with them again. They told her to meet Prema. Avika went to her room. As soon as Prema saw Avika, she hugged Avika. Avika tried to explain to her what Samar told her about Virat.
"No. Your husband is lying. Virat is very good person. If you don't trust my words, enquire about him. You will understand the truth. Samar doesn't want me to marry Virat. So he is lying."
"Stop it, Prema. Samar never lies to anyone. I know about him. Anyhow I will enquire about Virat. If he is really good as you said, I will get you married to him even if Samar doesn't agree."
Prema hugged Avika with happiness. Only then Avika realized her last words. Avika thought to enquire about Virat and then, make a decision. She reached home and Samar was at home by that time.
"Did you talk with Prema?"
"Yes. I think she needs some more time," Avika said.
"Ok. I agree with you. We shouldn't force her into marriage with Abhijith. It won't do anyone any good. Let's give her some time."
Avika nodded.
"I hope this matter comes to a happy end soon," Samar said and went to the room.
Avika enquired about Virat. After two days, Avika came to know that Virat is a good person. She didn't understand why Samar had lied to her. She decided to keep the promise which I gave to Prema. She decided to get Prema married to Virat against Samar's wish.
She went to her home. When Samar looked at her, she felt a bit uncomfortable. She felt guilty for hiding about her plan of marrying Prema to Virat. She escaped from Samar looks as she can't see into his eyes. But he doesn't leave that easily and more importantly he cares for her and notices every small change in her behavior. He understands her mind easily.
"Did you have anything to say, Avika?"
"No…nothing."
"Hope so. But your eyes are saying something different. What's the matter, my dear beautiful wife?"
Samar said making Avika to face him and cupping her face.
"Whatever it is tell me. Let's deal it together. But don't keep any worries in your mind. I won't say anything even if you did something wrong but just tell that to me frankly. I want you to be happy and peaceful all the time."
His words made her feel more guilty. But if she says the truth about her plan, he will stop the marriage. She didn't want to break the promise given to Prema.
"Just a small business tension."
"Ok, then I am not going to interfere in your work. You go and take a rest. If you want to refresh, let's go out for dinner or any other program."
"No, I just need a rest."
Avika went and slept. He came after some time.
"Avika, wake up. Please have your dinner and then sleep. It's not good for health to skip dinner."
Avika woke up slowly. He brought dinner and fed her. Then he made her to sleep and covered her with a blanket.
"Good night, Samar."
"Good night, love "
He placed a kiss on her forehead. She slept turning the other side. Tears appeared in her eyes. She is going to break his trust in her. She knows well that after doing that, he may not love her in this way anymore. She will miss his love. But she didn't like Samar blaming Virat unnecessarily and spoiling his sister's life.
In the morning, she took Prema's certificates as she left a copy in their home. She called Virat to take his certificates. Then she applied in the registrar office for their marriage. After one month, they set a date for Prema's marriage. She went to her in-laws' home and took Prema with her, saying that they are going to a temple. Garima didn't pose any questions and sent Prema with Avika.
They went to the registrar office. Virat was already there. They went inside. They are about to sign the marriage papers and Samar called Avika. She received the call.
"Hello, Samar."
"Where are you?"
"I…I…"
"I asked where are you?"
"As usual, I am at office."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. But why are you asking like that?"
The next second, Samar came in front of her eyes, shocking her. She couldn't see into his eyes. Samar came with the police and they arrested Virat. Samar handed over Prema to his parents, saying not to allow her outside. Avika thought to go to the office as she has no courage to face him. But Samar came to her.
"Get in," He said pointing towards his car.
"I…I have to...go...to the office."
He glared at her. That look is enough to kill her. She calmly sat in his car not to make him lose his temper. He took her to the home. She went to the room and he followed her. He came towards her. Avika moved back to escape from him. But he pinned her to the wall and caged between his hands.
"Samar, I am sorry," Avika said with tears scared of him. She never saw him this angry. He is really so angry.
He pressed himself towards her. It's hurting and Samar knows that.
"Samar, it's hurting. Please, leave me."
Samar distanced himself a bit, which relaxed her. She took a breath. Whenever he got this close to her, she used to blush and wait for his touch. But this time she was so scared of him. She wanted to push him and run away. But if she did that, he would become even more angry. After all, he was her husband and not someone else. She didn't move. His lips touched her lips. He stood that close to her. Avika eyes filled with tears though Samar didn't say anything to her yet.
"Why did you lie to me?" Samar said.
"Because you too lied to me. Virat is a good person but you said wrongly about him. You didn't even care for your sister's life. You just cared for your rivalry. You tried to spoil your sister's life. You almost killed her. For you, business is more important than relationships," Avika said.
Samar slapped her, which both of them didn't expect.
"Just don't say even a word. You may not know the original character of Virat. But I know. Just remember that I will never forget that you cheated me," Samar said and left.
Avika cried, sitting there itself.
"How could he slap me? I didn't do anything wrong. I just tried to make Prema happy but instead of understanding, he slapped me," Avika thought and made a decision, wiping her tears.
Avika thought that Samar should realize his mistake. She kept a letter on the table and took her luggage. She decided to leave Samar. She went to her elder sister, Akshara.
"Avika, Come in."
Avika invited her inside and hugged her. Akshara's husband came from inside and smiled at her. Akshara looked at her luggage.
"Is everything ok, Avika?"
"I came out of the house leaving Samar."
