Avika's Success
Avika felt happy for getting Samar as her husband. She thought that no husband will be like him. She brought coffee to him. He is on a call. He looked at me and took the coffee from my hands. He ended the call.
"I will prepare dinner."
"Wait, sweet heart. Let's go out for dinner. I booked a table for us just now. You will feel relaxed if we go out for a bit."
"Then, I will get ready."
"A small gift for you."
He gave a chain to me with a locket which has Samar's name engraved on it. I looked at him.
"Don't you like it?"
"Nothing like that. I will get ready."
Avika went from there to get ready. She didn't like the locket. She felt as if she is a property to which his name is tagged. She knows that her thinking is strange but she felt so. Samar came inside.
"Give me the chain, Avika."
"Why?"
"I don't like you to compromise your likes for me. Let's buy another locket. It's not a big deal, sweety."
Avika wondered how Samar cares for her and how he understands her every feeling.
"Samar, give it to me."
"It's ok. No problem. If you don't like to wear, no need to wear."
"I will wear it to my hand."
Avika took it from him and wore it to her hand as a bracelet. He didn't say anything. He just looked at me and went off. Avika felt that she has spoiled his mood. She went downstairs.
Samar got ready in a black suit. He looked handsome. Avika noticed getting strange feelings towards him. She accepted him as her husband because of his kindness and love. But day by day there is some difference in her feelings. She started falling in love with him completely. Samar suddenly turned back and found Avika staring at him. Avika blushed and thought to go from there.
"What are you doing? Are you staring at me? I mean I found something different in your looks. Am I right?"
Avika stopped but was unable to say anything. She heard his footsteps. He came near to her and hugged from the back.
"After all, I am your husband. You have a right to look at me that way. I mean you can look at me lovingly. I am all yours, sweety."
Samar turned her towards him. She smiled, bending her head to escape from his look, which made her blush.
"Are you angry at me?" Avika asked slowly.
He smiled.
"Why would I be angry with you? It's ok if you don't like to wear that chain. However, you don't want to hurt me. So you wore it as bracelet."
"I came to say sorry."
"But I thought my wife is falling for me completely day by day. Am I that handsome which made you to stare at me for a long time?"
"I just came now."
"I am observing you in the mirror from half an hour. You forgot time too in looking at me."
Finally, she gave up and went near to him.
"I love you. Your wife already fallen for you completely."
"I want you to be free with me. If you don't like something, you have freedom to tell that freely with me. You shouldn't hesitate or fear for me. You are my wife, not a slave to do whatever I say and accept everything. Just be frank with me."
"Thank you, my dear husband."
"Now tell me why didn't you like the chain? I will make sure not to buy such gifts to you anytime."
"Wearing name in my neck made me to feel as if I am a property. I know I am wrong. But…"
"It's ok. No problem dear. Wear it as a bracelet if you like or we shall exchange it in the shop."
"I will wear it as a bracelet."
"Ok, then we shall go out for dinner."
We went to a restaurant. He took me inside. Those people greeted Samar. Avika looked at him.
"This is our restaurant."
Avika didn't even know how many types of business he does. He too didn't say anything to her until now. He made her to sit near a table. He sat in front of her.
"What do you want to have?"
"I want shahi paneer with plain rice."
Doesn't he know my likes even now?
He ordered the dish and looked at me.
"I know what you like. But I always want to give you a chance to choose your favorites. Sometimes we may not like to eat even our favorite food. So it's better for you to choose what you like to have at that point of time."
Samar is always different from others. He has different opinions on everything. They had dinner. Avika heard the music playing and Samar got up from his seat.
"Do you like to dance with me gorgeous?" He said asking for my hand.
"I can't. I can dance with you only when we are alone but not in the public."
Shocking me a girl came to Samar.
"Can you dance with me Mr. Handsome?" she asked.
I looked at Samar and he smiled. I thought to go for a dance with him but startled at his answer.
"I can dance only with the girl who is in my heart i.e. my beautiful wife. I am Sorry, beautiful."
I smiled with his answer. I gave my hand to him.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, of course. When my husband is with me, there's nothing to fear for."
I enjoyed a lot dancing with my husband. It's splendid a great day for both of them. After a week, Avika applied for the license again. Samar came home in the evening.
"I am so happy today. I applied for license again and I am damn sure that they will approve it."
"Great and advance congratulations."
"Do you know how I changed my project. It is...."
He stopped by keeping finger on her lips.
"Don't share your professional tactics and plans with anyone including me. This is the first tip you need to follow to be successful in the profession. But regarding your personal life, you should never hide anything from me."
"But I changed my objective of the firm just because of your suggestions and support."
"Even though keep it as a secret until you get the license."
It's past a month and she went to know about the status of her application. They approved the license. They celebrated the occasion with Samar, Akshara, and Mother (the administrator of orphanage).
Her firm became special and her products became popular within a short time. Because her employees were only women. As she manufactured herbal beauty products, so recruiting women helped her a lot. There were no side effects as they were natural products. Everyone in the firm, from the receptionist to sales executives to the managing director, was a woman, which promoted women empowerment.
She became so busy with the firm and now a days, she got very little time to spend with Samar. But he never said even a word to her. Six months passed by. That day she has a meeting which is very important. If this deal becomes successful, she can export the products to international market. Unfortunately the meeting started late as delegates came late. Meeting started late at 9 pm as their flight delayed.
Meeting went successful and she came out of the office. It's already 11:30 pm. If she starts now, she will reach her home at 12:30. She didn't know how Samar would react. Until now though she became totally busy with her work, he didn't say anything. But she was worried as it's too late.
She knows that Samar will be sweet all the time but once if he gets angry, he will be so rude and serious. She prayed to the God not to happen anything. She went to the car and sat in the back seat. She ordered the driver to start the car and the car was started. She saw the driver and it's not her driver.
"Hey, who are you? Stop the car," Avika shouted.
The person turned back and it's Samar.
"Samar, when did you come?"
"Just before half an hour."
She didn't understand how to continue the conversation. She hoped that he won't shout at her. They both were silent. She got fresh up after reaching the home.
"Dinner?" Samar said.
"I will have it. What about you?"
"I had it already."
Avika had her dinner and went to Samar.
"I am…sorry. Actually…the deal was delayed. Unfortunately I was late. I will be careful not to let this happen again. Please, forgive me. Please don't be angry with me."
Avika started crying. Samar looked at her once and wiped the tears.
"Who said I am angry with you?"
"I was late. So I thought you would be angry at me."
"No. You didn't do anything wrong. I am in the same profession as you are in. I know how these meetings go. I can understand. I've arrived late many times to our home because of my office work. But I've never apologized or gave this many excuses for being late."
Avika was surprised with his words. Is any husband can be this understanding and supporting?
"But Avika, please inform me if you are going to come late to the home. Because I can't take risk. So I will come to pick you up."
"I love you."
"I too love you. So how was the meeting."
"The meeting went successful. But I am scared of you assuming you might be angry at me for coming home so late."
"No way, sweet heart. Now take a rest. It's already too late."
Avika thought to sleep but suddenly hugged him tightly at once and even now her eyes were wet. But not because of sad tears. Before marrying Samar, she lost all the hopes in life. There are many nights where she cried a lot. But marriage with Samar changed her life to a large extent. From that day, her life is filled only with happiness and sweetness. If every husband is like Samar, no girl fears for marriage. She kissed him with all her love. Samar smiled at her.
"This is how a married life should start. With love. Only love. Love making should never be a formality. It should be the final way to express love which is overwhelmed in us," said Samar.
Samar slowly kissed her on the lips and made her to lie on the bed. Avika closed her eyes as he switched off the light. He is right. From that day, love making is never a formality for them It's the final way to express overwhelmed love in them to each other. She smiled remembering how her first meeting with Samar went on and how it turned to their marriage and her life with him until today.
