chapter 31

I started to roll a joint as i saw her watching this was probably one of my better attempts and i could feel her eyes following every movement i made she commented

“That's not bad, have you been practising? “

The tone of her voice clearly showed she was joking so i laughingly replied

“Yeah just a little i thought i should “

She smiled at me as we both shared the smoke. I was intently watching her chest rise and fall with each inhale and exhale.

After a while she smiled and said

“ There's a camp out tonight in the old farmers field. Me and Josh and a few others are gonna be there. Do you wanna come along? “

I hesitated as I knew that really I should be going home but I agreed and said I would need to go home to grab a few things. As soon as i had said this she stood up and led me back towards the houses and said

“well if we grab them now we can head to the field and meet everyone”

We walked the rest of the way in silence as i got near my house i asked her to wait on the corner and said i wouldn't be long

As soon as I walked through the door of my house I was trying to be as quiet as possible not wanting to be found by my sister in the drunk and high state that I was . I knew she would only cause trouble for me. Unfortunately i was not successful in this endeavour and bumped into my sister on the stairs who spoke bluntly

“ my god look at the state you're in, don't worry i wont tell mum but you will owe me for this, oh by the way that abbey girl called by earlier she said she hasn't seen you in a few days and wondered if you wanted to go to the movies with her this evening. I kicked myself as I knew I was passing up a sure thing for what was only a maybe, however I knew this would also be my only chance to become one of the cool kids. This was not something i wanted to pass on, i gathered a few things like a fresh change of clothes well a t-shirt and spare boxers and jammed them into a spare backpack i had along with a pen knife. As soon as i left the house i sent a text to abbey

“Hey sorry i missed you i am busy this evening but would love to catch up next week maybe if you're free”

As soon as I had hit send I turned the corner and saw Emily talking with josh. Turns out he had been heading to the field and had bumped into Emily while she was waiting for me to get back. We all walked to the field smoking as we went. We had some joking conversations and planned the night ahead of us. The general idea was to get as drunk as possible and as high as possible and just relax. When we arrived there were a few tents already set up along with a small campfire. I could smell cooking meat and the pungent smell of cannabis in the air. I took a seat near the fire and looked around. I only knew a couple of the people who were here and most of them were in the “cool crowd” at school. I felt a slight rush as in my mind all i could think was this was it i was finally gonna be popular and finally be able to walk around without people thinking i was weird or be an outcast anymore. I also at this stage realised that i didn't have a tent and resigned myself to the fact that i would be sleeping under the stars with just the fire to keep me warm. As the evening progressed a few more people joined us and we talked and laughed as we enjoyed the evening. As it started getting later some of the group went into their tents and i noticed that emily had a tent here all though i hadn't seen her set it up she must have had someone else set it up for her. She walks over to me and asked

“Do you not have a tent ? I didn't see you set one up ? “

I smiled as i playfully responded

“No i don't have a tent i thought i would just sleep by the campfire under the stars and enjoy the night”

She took my hand and stood me up

“You can share my tent if you want it will only be the 2 of us and it's a little cosy but it saves you getting cold out here by yourself”
