“ oh I don’t need help sir, I just thought that as we are doing about Adam and Eve and the creation of sin maybe we should know how the devil was created?”
Mr watts looked stunned as he thought for a moment and spoke.
“well I suppose that would make sense”
He sat himself down on his chair and picked up the sentence
“ depending on which version you believe most Christians think there are two ways the devil was created. The most popular belief is that the devil was once an angel, he was created in god's image. Over time this angel called lucifer or morning star, believed he should be worshipped as god was due to him basically being god himself. God did not agree with this and banished him from heaven. In his banishment lucifer turned some of the other angels to his way of thinking. And started a war between the angels who supported him and the angels god had created without free will, this was due to lucifer having free will. Thus lucifer became the first fallen angel and the others that followed became demons. Lucifer was banished from heaven and in his resentment for god he became the devil. On top of being banished from heaven some Christians believe that lucifer was chained to a rock in the depths of the earth and sealed away not even allowed to look upon heaven again. Other Christians believe that the devil was created by god as a way to tempt Christians so they may prove themselves worthy as he tempted adam and eve in the garden.”
As he spoke I sat captured by this story as much as I didn’t like religion that for some unknown reason spoke to me. Abbey smiled next to me as Mr Watts finished talking. She leaned over and said.
“As much as I dislike religion, sometimes the wars and stuff are kinda cool, like imagine if this happened and we could watch this angelic war?”
I smiled and chuckled at the thought of actually being able to witness such events. The rest of the day passed by as normal with nothing really interesting happening as ever. I looked forward to each break we were given. Being only morning break and a lunch break I looked forward to the latter more as it was longer and meant I could spend more time with Abbey. Both breaks we sat talking about giant battles from film and books we had read, we also tried to figure out if it was doable to have a war in D&D with several hundred on either side. The conclusion was that it was doable but you would need to treat each battalion of soldiers as a mob so they would all do the same action and cause an accumulative damage rather than singular for each troop.
At the end of the day we walked back in our usual group and spoke about how we might try a giant battle at some point and how each of the characters we played would control one or two battalions of troops and their own character. This way it would only need 3 actions per player. It was just general chat that we always had. The evening at home was pretty much the same aswell, I had tea with my mum and sister and then went up to my room. I was torn between doing more research on the photos I had or if I should plan this D&D battle. After trying to decide for 30 minutes I felt my mind drawn towards the pictures again. I looked over them just scanning to see if anything jumped out at me and sure enough. The first part that jumped out was a passage that said about a cave where the devil was bound and how it had taken years but finally they had found it. The second part were a set of numbers
“51.8243n, 3.6611w”
I quickly searched on my phone and found a cave system in wales that was called Ogof ffynnon ddu in wales, I translated it and found it was the cave of the black spring, ironic I thought and also very odd. Had this man who had scraped these words and co-ordinates into the walls where he was captive really thought he had found the cave where lucifer was supposedly chained up. I was again reminded of micks words as the drifted through my
head.
