Chapter 96 Chapter 96
Jojo
After I had a very delicious meal I might add, John took me to the bar area where there was already another guy behind the counter serving the early birds as John called them. “Jason come here.” He poured a guy a drink before he came over to us. “Boss?” He asked. “Jason this is Jojo she’ll be working with you from now on.” He gave me his hand “Nice to meet you.” “I want you to show her the ropes.” “I thought Davi and Ashley already did.” “They did.” I chipped in because he had a smile on his face surely just for John’s sake but he wasn’t very happy about me. “Well Jojo then I’m leaving you with him. I’ll come and check on you later and please remember to drink water.” “I will John don’t worry.” As soon as John was out of the Bar area Jason looked at me and said “So you the one I have to handle with kid gloves.” He was so sarcastic. “No, you don’t.” “Well, I need this job so if he tells me I have to handle you with kid gloves then I will but I’m not happy about it.” “Oh, believe me it’s written all over your face.” He ignored my statement and showed me a customer, “Go help that guy.” I didn’t say a thing I just walk to the customer and asked him “Good evening, Sir What can I get you?” He didn’t even look at me he just said “Pappy Van Winkle.” “Coming right up.” I grabbed the first bottle I saw and poured him the drink. As I put it in front of him Jason came and grabbed the glass “Sorry Sir she’s new.” He said and pulled me to the side “He said Pappy Van Winkle that is what I poured him.” “His a regular you poured the 15 year he wants the 23-year Pappy Van Winkle.” “Then shouldn’t he have said that.” “I know the regulars orders they don’t tell me what they want I just give it to them.” He said putting the right glass in front of the customer who didn’t even notice us.
“The guy that just walk in he will order Don Julio by the bottle and if he had a great day which means he closed a deal and the person would be with him then he will order the most expensive bottle which is Tequila Ley .925 Diamante.” He walked away from me and walked straight to the customer “Good evening, sir Don Julio?” Jason asked “Yes.” Was all he said. People at bars are rude or is it just this one, I could smell the old money all over them, rich and entitled everything I’ve run away from. But this is a job and I need it to pay my rent so I will swallow my pride and serve the people that is so much like my father.
When a younger guy walked into the bar area, I was sure he wasn’t here before he looked out of place. He stood at the entrance and just looked around before he walked towards the counter. I walked over to him “Good evening Sir how can I help you?” I asked with my brightest smile. “Bourbon.” “Anything in particular?” “Do you get anything else than Jimmy Bean?” Okay not rich and definitely out of place. “Jimmy Bean it is.” I walked over to the counter and got a glass and ice and poured him a shot of Jimmy Bean.” “Who said I wanted ice with that?” He almost screamed at me as I put the glass down. This was going wrong so quickly. “I’m sorry I’ll get you another glass.” “Well, I’ll probable have to pay for it so you can drink that one.” “Oh, thank you so much but I can’t drink I’m working.” “If a customer tells you to drink your drink.” I walked over to Jason who was talking to one of his regulars. “I have a problem.” “It sounds like a you problem.” “Jason just help me this once I won’t ask for help again okay. What do you do when your customer tells you to drink the drink you just poured because it was wrong?” “What did you do now?” “I poured a guy Jimmy Bean with ice and he didn’t want ice.” “Definitely not a regular where is he.” I didn’t have to show him because the guy was already on his feet screaming at me. “Hey bar maid I told you to do something now do it.” He got everyone’s attention and I didn’t like that; I wanted as little as possible attention on me. “Sir, can you sit down please.” Jason asked him. “I told her to drink the Jimmy Bean because she poured it wrong.” “She’s new and we can’t drink on the job.” “Well, I’m the customer and I want her to drink it.” “She’s not going to drink it sir. Here is a glass without ice on the house.” “I will pay for my own fucking drink after she drank it.” Jason took the glass and downed the Jimmy Bean. “Okay now it’s gone will you take a seat and drink your drink or should I call security.” The guy and Jason were staring at each other not one of them was willing to look away. Eventually the guy sat down. “All good now?” “Yes fine.” When we walked away from the customer I grabbed Jason’s arm. “Thank you Jason.” “Don’t mention it he was a dick.”

It was the night of Jojo’s first shift and I’m stuck in the office. I think this will be the first time in like forever I haven’t sat on the same spot at John’s Hotel; John might think I don’t want to meet Jojo but I was stuck in a meeting with my dad about Jojo. “Dad this is a favor for Benjamin I couldn’t say no and his taking over his father’s business he might send us some work, or should I say he will send us more work if we help him with Joelle.” My father looked at me and started to nod his head after a few hours I was begging him “Okay I don’t know how you going to get her to except the position or even except the payment for the last semester but if you can do that, I will give her a chance.” “You serious?” “Well, it is the first time you want to do something for a woman other than your own mother since ….” “Don’t say her name and this is nothing more than a favor for Benji.” “Okay son if that is how you see it. You get her to agree to all the terms and she can start her internship here.” “Thanks dad.”
