I was surprised when my breakfast came at 9 am that I still had the tea and biscuit in my stomach I was sure I was going to vomit it out but I didn’t. When I opened the dome and smelled the egg I immediately grabbed for the bucket that was standing next to my bed. I was still vomiting when Sophia and John walked into my room. “John take this away and tell the nurse to bring tea and biscuits.” It wasn’t even 2 minutes when the egg smell was gone and I could breathe again. I put the bucket down wiped my mouth with a tissue and looked at Sophia. “Sorry you had to see that.” “Nonsense I had two remember, nothing to be ashamed off. Was it the egg?” “Yes, I couldn’t take the smell. I was brought up on smoothies and chicken salad Sophia I had to keep my figure, my mom always said, now being pregnant and trying all these new stuffs it’s weird.”
“What about this?” She pulled a packet of Reese’s out of her handbag. “This is something new and something I can eat.” I smiled at her. “Well go on take one.” “It’s still early I can’t have sweets so early.” “Jojo you’re your own boss now you can do whatever you want, your mother isn’t here, if you want to eat that whole packet right now then do it.” “I’ll pick up weight.” “I have bad news for you the baby will make you pick up weight. And besides you told me you are a runner this will do nothing to you even a healthy diet with actual food like steak and pastas won’t make you fat.” “Benji also said so.” “Well see I’m not talking out of my ass.” John came back with a tray with some tea and biscuits. “Here you go Jojo.” “Thanks John.” I wondered if I should ask him about my so-called fiancé and if I should rather leave it. I decided to leave it, if he didn’t want to tell me there is probable a reason. “So, when are you getting out?” “The nurse said they might let me go home today.” “Oh, that’s amazing.” “So, John if I get out today, I’ll be at work tomorrow.” “Nonsense you need to rest.” Sophia said. “No Sophia I really need to keep busy, when I’m busy, I don’t have time to think about the what if’s.” “Only if you are sure Jojo.” John said. “I’m sure.” “Okay well then I’ll leave my driver here with you and he can take you home when you get discharge.” “No shame man I don’t know what time it will be.” “Nonsense Gideon is staying here and that is the end of it.” Sophia said. Clearly her husband and kids listen to her because I was going to listen to her to. “Thank you so much and thank you for the Reese.” “I didn’t see you eat one yet.” “I’ll have one after my tea.” I told her.
“Well, here I bought you some cloths and toiletries.” “Thank you Sophia.” “And here you go.” John gave me keys. “What is this for?” “Oh, sorry we, I mean I had to kick your door open so I replaced it.” “Thank you John sorry for all the trouble.” “Nonsense that is what friends do. We have to go but you’ll call me when you get back home right?” Sophia asked “Yes I will.” “Good then talk to you later.” John came to me and squeezed my hand. “Please call us if there is anything you need or are in trouble Jojo, I don’t want what last night happened happen again.” “I promise I will.” “John…….” I said as he turned around to walk out and the curiosity got the better of me. “Yes?” He asked looking at me. “Nothing just thank you.” I decided to just leave it. Curiosity killed the cat and all that.
At about 12 the nurse came with some paper work I needed to sign just to sign myself out of the hospital the bill was already taking care off. I asked her countless times how much it was but she didn’t want to tell me. I’ll probable have to find out with John. I got dressed brushed my teeth, packed my bag and went looking for Gideon. I didn’t have to look far because he was standing right outside my door. “Joelle?” He asked “Yes.” “I’m Gideon you ready to go?” “Oh yes thank you.” He took my bag without even asking and asked the nurse for a wheelchair apparently, he didn’t want me to slip and fall while we where in the hospital. I protested but at the end I sat down, it was clear I wasn’t going to win with him. He pushed me to the SUV that was standing in a no parking area. Then he helped me to get in the SUV. “You, okay?” He asked me. “Yes, I’m good.”
As we drove back to my place Gideon was quiet, he had the radio on, but as we approached my apartment building, he said. “I have a brother.” “Oh, that’s nice I’m an only child.” I thought he was trying to make conversation but then he went on. “He lives in the same neighborhood as you. If you ever have a problem call him.” “I can’t just call strangers Gideon.” “Don’t worry you’ll meet him.” I didn’t know what to say to that so I kept quiet. Where the hell will I see him. But as we drove into the driveway, I saw a man that looks just like Gideon standing next to my car. “I take it that is your brother.” “It is.” He opens the door for me and helped me out of the SUV I wanted to tell him I can do it myself but I didn’t want to be rude. We walked towards my car. “Joelle, this is my brother Daniel.” “Daniel this is Joelle.” “Nice to meet you.” We both said. Daniel was a handsome gym bunny that is if you go for that type, he had muscles for days in his arms and legs I’m sure girls drool over him but not this one. He gave me his card. “If you ever need anything please call me or if you just need someone to run with you, I’m just a block away.” “Thank you so much Daniel and Gideon I really appreciate it.” I started to walk to my door with Gideon behind me at least Daniel stood at my car. When I open the door Gideon gave me my bag. “Here you go and don’t loose that number.” “I won’t thank you and thanks for the lift.” “Anytime.”
