“Come we need to go to the cold stuff and fresh produce.” Jojo said. “No, we are starting here and we will go down every aisle.” “But I don’t eat cereal.” “What if you crave cereal?” “I don’t think I’ll crave something I’ve never had.” She said “What about Reese to you like peanut butter?” “I do.” “Well then let’s get the Reese’s cereal.” She took the box look at the nutrients on the box and said “No I can’t eat that?” “Why because you don’t want to or because your mom won’t let you?” I knew that was a low blow but I had to try and get some sense into her. She’s her own women for God sakes. She gave me a look one that said, ‘my mom won’t let me’. “Okay so that goes in the trolley.” I took two boxes, we walked past the chips, “Come on Jojo choose a pack or two will you, it can lay in your cupboard if you don’t want to eat it but at least take some. She took two bags that’s when I saw the Reese popcorn, I threw 2 bags of that in as well. We walked past the sweets; Jojo didn’t even look I was the one that put anything containing peanut butter in the trolley. When we came to the section with the sauces it was like pulling teeth every label was read and everything was too high in this or the high in that. But I didn’t listen I took the sauces she looked at because that meant she would have eaten it, when we came to the fridge she only took frozen chicken and a pack unfrozen chicken for tonight I was the one putting beef in the trolley although we did speak about her needing to eat red meat, I even put some steak in the trolley. She packed the rest full of fruits and vegetables. If it wasn’t for me the trolley wouldn’t have been even half full she probable would just have bought chicken, water and fruit and vegetables.
When we got to the till she looked at the trolley. “Jeez Benji are you staying with me forever?” “No this is for you.” “I don’t think my mom’s money will cover all this.” “You not paying I am.” She gave me a look and then she wanted to say something. “No arguing I’m paying end of story.” Jojo walked straight to a till, there was no one there, must be a self help till. “I’ll scan you can pack.” She said. “Okay on it.” She scanned everything and I packed the bags; we had a hell of a lot of bags I was glad Anton went home to take the TV there or we wouldn’t have space in the SUV. When everything was through the scanner and all the bags packed, we were still standing with two trolleys full. I paid for it getting a look from Jojo but I ignored it then we walked out where John was waiting for us. He jumped out and helped us with everything. When everything was loaded Jojo and I got in the SUV. “I told you I was going to pay for everything with my mom’s money why didn’t you listen?” She asked me very irritated with me. “Because you can use that money for something else or another day when you have to go and buy groceries or fresh produce, I’m here I want to make sure your fridge and cupboards are full before I leave that is the least I can do.” “But you buying me a car as well?” She moaned.
“Angel, I love you if we got married, I would have done so much more for you.” “But we are not getting married.” “Does that make me love you less? You want to put a photo of us in your apartment because you want to remember the great days, we had together now I will not be allowed to have a photo of you in my office or house let me do this for you then I know you are set for a few months before you have to start to worry okay?” She looked at me probable taking in what I said to her. “Okay Benji I will accept this as a token of your love for me.” “Thank God.”
Why didn’t I think about using my love for her to get her to accept things from me earlier. I was so stupid but it’s to late know to use the love card again. She got a TV, groceries a few house stuffs and a car with my love I can’t push her taking money to finish her studies but I can get someone else to pay for it. I can’t wait to see Coop tomorrow hopefully he will play along. I can only hope. We carried all the packages to the apartment there wasn’t enough space on the counter for all the stuff we bought. “You want me to help you with the groceries angel?” “No, you can set up the TV so long.” I was hoping she’ll say that. “Okay just call if you need help.” “I will.”

I couldn’t believe the floor was full of groceries, from sweets, to sauces, to fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. I had enough stuff here to last me probable a year. Benji just filled the trolley with more and more stuff, when I took one of something he threw in 2 more of the same thing. I get it I do he wants to make sure I’m okay but I’m not use to someone caring this much for me. My mom showed me her love with buying me a Channel bag not making sure I had food to eat for the next few months. This was love and I’m going to miss him a hell of a lot. I tried to make space for everything in the fridge and freezer then I started with the stuff that went into the cupboards that is when I saw the number of sweets he bought, and everything had peanut butter in. Well hopefully I don’t crave something like pickles. I thought to myself smiling.
