Chapter 31 She Seems to Have Changed Souls

Chapter 31 She Seems to Have Changed Souls

"School nurse, please take my brother outside to treat his wounds. Also, everyone who's not involved needs to leave the room." Evelyn looked at Lydia again. Her tone seemed similar to before, yet somehow different, sending chills down Lydia's spine.

For some reason, Lydia obediently helped Gabriel out, then cleared the principal's office—Principal Quinn actually left on his own, hunched over as he went.

Diana watched these actions with a strange expression. She snorted coldly and was about to order her bodyguards to act when a black flash crossed her peripheral vision.

No, that wasn't lightning.

She stared in disbelief as Evelyn knocked down the five burly men she'd hired at high prices with just a few punches, then rolled her neck and muttered, "Damn, I really need to lose weight. This body's such a drag."

"How is this even poss—" Before Diana could finish, Evelyn had already flashed in front of her, her lips slowly curling into a playful smile.

The next second, Evelyn's fist slammed hard into Diana's stomach.

Before Diana could even cry out in pain, another punch hit her chest. In just one minute, Evelyn had landed no less than twenty punches on her, making her insides churn so badly she wished she were dead.

Even the onlookers couldn't help but shrink back and gasp. Those fists fell like raindrops, fast and brutal—it looked painful just watching. What was even more remarkable was that while Evelyn could knock down a big guy with just two punches, Diana hadn't passed out after taking so many hits. It was as if Evelyn was deliberately hitting her where it hurt most, making her more and more conscious with each blow.

"It's like the cruel punishments they used on criminals in the old days," Principal Quinn couldn't help but say.

Luke inside the room clearly realized this too. He hugged his head and trembled, but the fierce wind from those punches kept drilling into his ears.

Then Luke, completely ignoring his suffering mother, got down on the floor and crawled toward the door in an extremely pathetic position, scrambling away in terror.

The teachers and students watching at the door saw him like this and clicked their tongues in contempt. Many even laughed out loud. But Luke couldn't care less—he only hoped Evelyn's attention would stay on his mother so he could sneak away.

After all, his mom always said he was the Foster family's only heir, so she'd surely be willing to take a beating for him.

"Ahhh—" Diana screamed behind him, while Luke finally crawled to the door and reached for the handle.

But the next second, his legs were suddenly grabbed.

Luke's whole body trembled. He turned around in terror and met Evelyn's terrifying eyes.

"Please let me—"

Before he could finish those few words, Evelyn had already grabbed his legs, swung him up, and slammed him hard onto the floor.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" Dull thuds echoed through the room.

Everyone outside who witnessed this scene held their breath in shock, feeling fear for the first time—could someone actually die from this?

And sure, Evelyn was covered in fat and Luke looked like a skinny monkey, but was the scene before them—like swinging a sledgehammer—really not just their eyes playing tricks?

Evelyn naturally knew her limits, but unfortunately Luke passed out from fear after just a few hits, so she lost interest and tossed him aside.

"Let us go, and we'll let this matter drop," Diana begged through her tears. But as soon as she finished speaking, Evelyn had already lifted her leg and brutally broke both of Luke's legs.

"Ahhh!" Luke, awakened by the pain, let out a heart-wrenching scream.

Principal Quinn finally didn't dare keep playing dead. He gathered his courage, pushed the door open, and tried to make peace: "Evelyn, leave yourself some room."

He awkwardly smiled while blocking Evelyn's view, frantically waving for people to get Diana and her son out.

Given the Foster family's background, they probably wouldn't call the police over this, so Evelyn wouldn't face legal trouble. But he feared they wouldn't easily swallow this insult—there were things more troublesome than calling the police...

Sure enough, Diana, who had kept silent until she'd secretly gotten out of the principal's office, viciously threatened Evelyn: "This isn't over. You're finished, finished!"

"We're done for, really done for now." Principal Quinn was about to try to reason with Diana, but she had already climbed onto a bodyguard's back and shooed them away from the principal's office like chickens.

Principal Quinn could only look helplessly at Evelyn, shaking his head repeatedly. "Do you know who you've offended?"

"Luke's father Dominic is the head of the biggest gang around here. Even the police have to show them respect. And Royal Flush, the biggest casino in California—do you know what relationship the casino owner Shawn has with Luke?"

"Shawn only has one daughter—the one you just beat up—and Luke is his only grandson, the apple of his eye, and you broke both his legs... Their connections in both the underworld and with the authorities run deep. How can you, just a student, or even your parents with their status, afford to offend them—" Principal Quinn kept shaking his head and sighing, feeling utterly helpless. "I heard Shawn has a good relationship with the gambling king Liam. I'm afraid even the school will be dragged into this because of you."

Hearing the words "gambling king," Evelyn's already unfriendly expression grew even darker.

She turned and looked coldly at the few dumbstruck students outside the principal's office. They were all unfamiliar faces, but she still said flatly: "Someone go get Owen and tell him to come here."

As soon as she spoke, several students raised their hands and ran out.

Evelyn ignored the sighing Principal Quinn and walked over to Gabriel to check his injuries. Lydia had already applied medicine to him. Fortunately, they were all external injuries and hadn't damaged his bones.

"Thank you." Evelyn looked deeply at Lydia and helped Gabriel sit on the sofa in the principal's office to rest.

Principal Quinn looked at them, wanting to say something but stopping himself. Thinking of the former governor's apology video circulating online, he ultimately said nothing, personally poured them both cups of hot water, then quietly sat back in his chair, keeping to himself.

While waiting for Owen to arrive, Gabriel hesitated several times. After struggling internally for who knows how long, he finally couldn't help but lean close to Evelyn's ear and whisper: "Evie, you've... changed a lot lately."

From football to math competitions to hacking skills—maybe nearly drowning could change someone's personality, but how could it make someone master so much knowledge in such a short time, knowledge that ordinary people couldn't possibly understand?

Until today, he'd been lying to himself, thinking maybe it was just because his sister had always clung to Austin and kept her distance from him, which was why he knew nothing about her.

But the ruthlessness Evelyn showed when beating people just now, the killing intent in her eyes, and those moves identical to fighting experts on TV—he couldn't ignore it anymore. The person before him, except for her appearance, had nothing in common with his sister.

It was like... the soul inside the body had been replaced.

Evelyn met Gabriel's gaze and hesitated for a few seconds. She was about to speak when Owen, who had rushed over, interrupted: "Boss, what happened?"

"Oh man, Gabriel, what happened to you?"

"Who was it! Who dares bully my boss's brother!"

Before he finished speaking, another student ran over with news: "This is bad, this is bad! A bunch of tattooed guys showed up outside and surrounded the school!"

Amid the chaos, Evelyn said coldly: "Owen, help me contact Adrian. Tell him I agree to his deal."

She wanted to see whether the Empire's Department of Defense could handle California's public security or not!
