Chapter 100

Chapter 100
Kieran

“Arrrghhh!!!” I growled at the top of my lungs, slamming both of my hands on the dressing table, splitting it in two the minute I got back to the pack.

My heart screamed a million words, and my mind ran a million races as I couldn't keep it in any longer; I began smashing things, anything and everything.

“I failed, I freaking failed!!” I kept mumbling, picking up the bedside lamp and smashing it to the ground. “I'm going to kill him, I'll make sure I finish the job! He can't win! Never!!” I kept yelling, my voice laced with anguish and pain.

I felt stupid. Defeated. Embarrassed. Evie's words kept echoing again in my mind, same as that son of a btch she was with. I still couldn't believe it; it just couldn't be true, I can't accept that truth, I thought.

How is it even possible? That a human would be the Umbra wolf and even his Aegis still alive, protecting him? This meant double war. It's one thing to fight and defeat an Umbra wolf, but his Sentinel?.... I heaved a deep sigh, slamming my back against the wall, taking in a deep, sharp breath, and for the first time ever in a long, long time, I felt tears rolling down my cheeks as I stared into thin air.

“Really Kieran? Tears?” Jai asked in disbelief.

“I can't hold it in any longer, Jai; I feel so stupid right now!” I replied.

“Come on now, Kieran, an Alpha never…” He tried to say.

“FCK what that Alpha talks, Jai.” I interrupted, “Every Alpha at some point does have their breaking point too, you know…. And for me? This is mine.” I retorted. “It was so obvious that Lucian, as Evie calls him, never knew about his roots. I could perceive the confusion in his feelings the minute I exposed myself and my pack, putting Evie in grave danger.” I thought.

“Then this is a great time to strike, Kieran, now when he's still confused.” Jai replied.

“You don't get it, Jai; my armies are no match for an Umbra wolf and his Aegis. Not even the addition of other packs combined can. My dad only killed Shadow Claw packs, not an Umbra wolf, Jai. The prophecy was released a few months after that incident and the last words of the seer were - ‘unless the goddess shines her mercy on us and raises a Savior,’ but at this point, I don't see that Savior anywhere,” I continued.

“The only person who might be able to save us all is my son, the Crimson Alpha, but still, he's not even mature and ready for the task yet, nor does he seem to have any hatred for the Umbra wolf… He seems to even recognize him as his father rather than me, who's his biological father,” I added. “We lost, Jai, I lost.” I said, running my hands through my hair.

It was at this point I noticed the blood dripping from my wrist.

“What the hell is going on here?!” A familiar voice echoed in my ears; it was Selene, but I just stood staring out the window back at her face without moving an inch as the only thing I could fathom was the sound of her footsteps going over the broken glass, wood, etc., on the floor.

“Kieran, what have you done to yourself?” She asked, her voice laced with panic.

“I need my space, Selene,” I said with a stern voice, my gaze still fixed to the sky.

“Well, you obviously do after this mess you created here, Kieran.” She fired back at me, “I'm guessing you got the exact kind of news I was expecting going to visit that traitor of a sister, didn't you?!” She asked.

“I don't want to talk about it,” I replied, but she'd always be typical Selene - never ready to give up.

“Of course, you wouldn't want to; stop poking your nose in someone else's family and focus on your family, Kieran….” She sneered.

“I said I don't want to talk about it!!” I growled, turning my gaze to her, my eyes blazing with fury, and my voice echoed loudly through the room, making her flinch not in shock, but in fear of what I might do as she forced down a lump in her throat.

Just then, the door swung open, revealing Ava and Alonzo. “Brother?!” She called out the minute she locked eyes with me and the mess I'd created.

I let out a sigh of frustration, “Don't come any closer!” I fired at her, making her halt in her steps. “I don't need any of your sympathy - I'm fine!” I spat out sternly.

“No, you're not, Kieran!” Ava sneered, “Just look at yourself, Kieran. Look at what you've done to yourself all because of a woman, brother! A woman that's not even your class or standard; come on, Kieran, if you continue like this, you'd end up being a disgrace to the throne and every other Alpha. You just got back from the hands of her cruelty in the human world, and you haven't even recovered fully, and you went back there,” she said, pausing for a while, “If only I knew that was where you were headed…. I'll…” she tried to speak.

“You would have done nothing, Ava, absolutely nothing. Take a look at your brother, Ava… You have a mate and several successors after him… And I've got none, just a pack that's eventually going to crumble when the Umbra wolf finds me. And my son, who's my only hope of defeating the Umbra wolf, not just him; his Sentinel is alive too. My son calls him Alpha too.” I chimed in quickly.

“What are you talking about, Brother-in-law?” Alonzo asked, but I just shot him deadly glares before turning my gaze back to Ava.

“The Umbra wolf is the human whom Evie stays with,” I blurted out.

“What?!” They all exclaimed in shock.

“Exactly my point. Not only that, his Aegis is still alive and well, ready to shield and protect him from Alphas like us, although not from a Crimson Alpha,” I added.

“But we haven't had a Crimson Alpha for ages,” Ava said.

“Not anymore, Ava; Evie’s son, my son, is a Crimson Alpha,” I announced, making them all gasp in shock. “But the boy is too young and hasn't received any training on how to master his full strength, and guess what? That's my role, but apparently, my own son can't even look at my face.” I said sternly as the image of him turning away from me played back in my mind.

“While an Omega nurtured a Crimson Alpha, some people can't even nurture a normal pup!!” I added, my voice laced with venom as I spoke. “Now that you all know the war we are about to face, could you please get the hell out of my room?” I asked, “now!!” I added, my voice firm and strong.

Just then, a strong silence fell in the air as if death itself had exhaled as the tension increased. Just then, the sound of glass crushing to the ground echoed in my ears, interrupting the silence, making us all turn our gaze in its direction.

“Greetings, my lord,” Hailey said with a dry smile, knowing she'd just interrupted something. “Your medicine,” she added, noticing the awkward look on everybody's face as beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she stared at us, forcing a lump down her throat.
