Chapter 31 HEALER
Vance's POV
I paced the hospital floor impatiently. Dr. Stone was aghast to see us bringing her fainted daughter instead of an injured male warrior. Duke rushed over and was trying to talk me into being calm, while Blayne investigated the incident at the training grounds.
Flustered and unraveled, I walked back and forth waiting for Dr. Stone to get back to me. "What the fuck is taking them so long?"
"Vance, it's her daughter so I am sure that Dr. Stone is doing all that she can to take care of Sianna," The remarks of Duke had little impact. Although my wolf and I were aware of this, it was very difficult for us to remain still because we were so eager to see her.
There was still some confusion as to how the warrior miraculously healed from a punctured heart from a silver weapon. Silver injuries took time to heal, could be days or weeks depending on the depth of the wound. I left that in Blayne's capable hands to deduce.
Growls and sighs escaped me unconsciously as it felt like forever since Dr. Stone came out. I was relieved that I had gotten there in time to catch her as she fell. But my question was what caused her to faint in the first place? She was healthy and slept alright. I might have been busy lately but I went home by 9 pm and got straight to bed. Unless, of course, we were making love.
Was I too rough in the sack with her? Did our love-making deplete her too much; am I overdoing it?
Breakfast time was reserved for us to eat together and she no longer worked at the café. I didn't want her working because she had to commence her training for luna duties. It would have been too much for her. Thank goodness her exams ended a week ago and now she was on her summer break.
We planned to have a double date with her best friend, who is also Duke's sister, to have time out. I wanted to take her to the lake for a picnic with Duke and Keisha. I wanted us to have a balanced life where fun was incorporated. The work would eventually have subsided to the point where we had established the stability for our time together.
Am I a bad mate for failing to recognize her need for rest and failing to care for her better? I inwardly berated myself.
The opening of the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I walked to meet Dr. Stone. "She is weak and lethargic but she is in good health. I took a blood sample to do some checks just to be sure." She flipped her charts. "I want her to get a day's rest and then I will stop by the house to check on her." Tenderly she added, "She's okay and we'll have the blood work completed within four hours."
"One hour." I imposed with my Alpha command. Whatever was wrong with her needed to be known to me without delays.
She gave a hesitant glance. "Alright, Alpha. We will see what we can do. You can take her home."
Duke entered the room with me. I went to sit on the small bed and took her hands into mine. She acknowledged both of us without saying anything.
"How are you feeling, Sianna?" Duke asked before I could.
She nodded "Just a little weak but I am fine." Her face tried to reassure me.
'She's so pale,' my wolf announced in his dejected mood.
"Glad to hear. Vance almost had a heart attack." He teased as usual. "So thank you for being okay or else we would have lost our Alpha too."
Swiftly I turned to glare at him. This was not the time for jokes even though she laughed. "Duke!" I warned.
She placed her soft hands on my cheek and turned my face to look at her. "Ignore him, I know how worried you were."
My eyes soften as the smile curled on my lips, my wolf's comment matching my expression. 'Mate understands us.' To articulate the happiness that was fermenting in my heart, I kissed her palms.
"I will go now. I'll take care of things at the office so you can take luna home." Always my best friend to know exactly how to help. I didn't even remember that he was still in the room.
Once we were alone I helped her up out of bed. She wanted to walk but I refused to let her. I cradled her in my arms to the jeep, and drove home in silence. I placed her in the sofa chair in our bedroom and went to the bathroom to fill the tub with warm water. I undressed her, she rolled her eyes at me for being too smothering. She did not refute my efforts because I would get grumpy.
From this moment on, I was going to pay keen attention to her. We won't slack off again, as my wolf swore with me. "Vance, mom said that I was fine. You are treating me like a baby." She complained but does not move from the sofa. "You are a baby, Sianna." I chuckled at her cuteness. Her bare shape on that sofa was so beautiful that it ought to be immortalized in a painting. "You are my baby. Mine."
I strip out of my shirt and jeans and lastly removed my boxers. My manhood stands on attention and she scoffs at the sight of how aroused I was.
Unable to stop myself, I knelt before her and fervently claimed her lips. Her hands groped my shoulders until they snaked my neck. It turned into feathery kisses until we slowly broke away.
Her arousal was high in the air, teasing my senses and my wolf begged to enjoy his Firecat, but she hadn't eaten and had to revive her strength.
Together we soaked in the tub. I massaged her shoulders and she rested her head on my chest. With her eyes closed humming a tuneful lullaby. My phone rang in the bedroom and she tried to get out but I pulled her back into my embrace. The phone rang again and she gave me a persuasion of her doe-eyes so that I surrendered and ended our bath session. The wolf in me was pissed that it was cut short.
I wrapped her up in the towel and kissed her forehead. "This better be important," I growled in annoyance thinking of the phone call.
She also fastened a towel around my waist while I nibbled kisses on her shoulder and collarbone. I lifted her again off the floor and carried her to the bed. The ringing of the phone halted, I took it up to see the caller identification and muttered, "This better be good, Blayne!"
"Don't be angry with your Gamma, babes." She reminded me sternly as she laid in the same place I had her.
I dialed his number and she came towards me, positioning her head on my chest. "What did you get?"
"It was a clumsy mistake from a newbie warrior. I dished out their punishment. But Alpha..." Blayne trailed as if choosing the right way to say what he had to. "The warrior, Tatcher, said that he was sure he was dying when he felt waves of a warm inflow to his heart. He said it slowly helped his breathing and the next thing he knew was that he was no longer in pain."
I was processing his words carefully. "And....."
"And he was mysteriously healed. The wound disappeared. The only person that touched him at the time was Luna Sianna as she pressed her hands on the wound to contain the bleeding."
Sianna raised her head to listen in on the conversation. Her werewolf ability would not hamper her from hearing what was said but her mind drifted to admire my chest. Then she twined her fingers into my jet-black hair from boredom.
"Alpha, I think it might be possible that our Luna is.................... healer."
"Is this conversation secured?" I probed.
"Most certainly, Alpha. No one is around me." Blayne guaranteed. "I used preventative measures to ensure the warriors remain silent." I was going to have to Alpha command him to not speak about the healing incident as a safety precaution. Thus allowing speculative discussions without official confirmation where the rest of the witnesses were concerned.
"Keep this between the four of us for now. Summon the elder witch so that she can check Sianna's bloodline tomorrow." The call disconnected and I gazed at Sianna's questioning blue eyes. "I am taking you to see the witch elder tomorrow. The warrior said that you healed him."
Shocked at the news she jerked upward into a sitting position. "What?"
Healers were valuable to their packs. They were rare and the most sought-after type of wolves. It doesn't matter the gender but once you are a female, Alphas tend to choose them as their life partners.
I cupped her chin to calm her. "I will try to contain the information with all who witnessed it. This cannot be known outside of this pack."
She lowered and raised her head slightly and briefly to express her understanding.
As soon as the doorbell sounded, I got out of her tight embrace. Sianna's cherubic features jolted my heart and I hated leaving her side. "Let me fetch that. It should be the burritos that I had Sammy prepared for you from the pack house."
The omega curtsy as she greeted me, "Good day, Alpha." She was a timid one, but an excellent cook. The burritos smelt delicious and I thought of rewarding her for doing such a terrific job tomorrow.
"I appreciate it, Sammy." I took the bag from her and strode into the kitchen to get some drinks. Afterward, I made it back into the bedroom and sat on my side of the bed.
Unwrapping the package, Sianna's eyes widened, "Wow, she went all out for us."
"I think she went above and beyond for you, dear," I debated, "You are the one who took care of her at the clinic. I'm sure that she is more than grateful."
"It's nice that she has adjusted well." Sianna took one of the eight burritos and bit into it. "Mmm."
Staring at her, I frowned and growled.
"What's wrong, babe?" Her head tilted with arched brows.
"Why did you have to moan like that over her food?" I frowned, "You should only make those sounds for me and my wolf, Firecat."
She took a second taste and gushed, "Mmm, Oh, so good!" There she goes mocking me.
"This is your last warning, if you do that again....."
"Mmm," She closed her eyes and flips her head back, licking her lips slowly and seductively, kindling my lust.
"That's it," I jump on her and started tickling her mercilessly.
"Ahhh!" She screams, dying from uncontainable laughter. "Oh g-god-dess, s-stop."
"Oh yeah?" My smirk widens, and this is too amusing to me. "Are you going to moan like that again or just for me?"
Teary-eyed, she laughs until it sounds like wheezing. "O-okay, I g-give i-in."
"Are you sure you'll be a good girl?"
"Y-yes, baby. It's only for you." The words come out between her gasps, and I stopped and kissed my mark on her neck. "Oh."
Now I'm smiling like a man who just won a gold medal. I allowed her to eat. Together, we brushed our teeth in the bathroom before crawling into bed. Using the remote, I turned on the television to watch a movie.
We cuddled and spooned each other until we both slept. My wolf purred and melted in bliss.
The next time the phone rang it awoke me. Sianna stirred but stayed asleep. Her body still recuperating. I quickly grabbed it and answered Dr. Stone.
"Hi, Vance." She could be informal since they were now family and not in front of subordinates. "I sent you an email with the
results."
"Great, I will have a look at it." I was hoping for the best. I kept my voice lowered.
"Her blood was a bit low but everything is fine and we are happy for the both of you."
I squinted my eyes wondering what she was happy for. "Stay on the phone, Dr. Stone while I check." I minimized the phone call and opened my mail. My eyes glistened in happiness and gratitude. "This is wonderful!" I beamed. I thought Sianna was on contraceptives and not ready for kids because she was still studying.
She chuckled. "Have her rested and I will take some prenatal for her tomorrow. I will put together a diet for her to maintain for the health of her and the baby."
"Awesome." I am so lucky to be bonded to my Firecat. I should have known because she did not go into heat. The heat was a period that all she-wolf experienced upon meeting their mates until they became impregnated and occurred usually once a month. I threw my arm around her and went back to sleep.
