Chapter 30 TRAINING
Sianna's POV
It's been four weeks since I last saw Curtis. He went to the Crimson Hyde Pack to spend time with his mate. It was conclusive to me that he wouldn't reject her. I knew it, but he had to grip that knowledge on his own. He ought to make an effort to start over with her.
I was relieved that he's moved on. My primary concern was that I did not want him in pain any further from having to witness me and Vance progressing in our own relationship. I knew it had to hurt. It killed me to hurt him.
Curtis, had to understand that he was already sunken into his own mate bond, that he was not willing to let go. I am not one to stay in noxious situations.
I have fallen deeper for Vance and now only a kindred type of love existed for Curtis. I am fully moved in and I did minor changes to his place to add a feminine touch. He claimed he liked and appreciate it. I am on summer break and I spent more time at the pack house learning the ropes from Vance's mom. She's sweet and patient with me.
Hailey moved away to the White Clovers Pack with Raj and wanted us to have a double date soon. Vance accepted the idea and we needed some fun time. He's been occupied dealing with Hank and the possibilities of a threat of witches or vampires. The council has been taking measures to find all connections cohorting under that agenda to demolish it. He doesn't seem worried or stressed but maybe that is to keep my mind at ease.
He promised that we could go for a run today. He promised that we could go for a run today. I anticipate seeing his wolf for the first time. In their animalistic incarnations, wolves required spending time with their mates. Additionally, they require the ability to roam freely and take pleasure in nature.
The Luna Ceremony was to be done in two days. Mom, and Vance's mother took me shopping. Vance gave me a credit card so that I could handle all my business. I spoke with all members living and working at the pack house and today I was going to the training camp with Vance to spar.
I think it's important to train so that I can defend my people in any arising circumtamnces. I won't be a weakling. He refuses for anyone else to train me other than himself or Blayne. He will set aside the time to give me my first lesson.
I dragged on a black sports bra and a waistband capris but knowing that Vance hates when I show too much skin or curves, I pulled on a T-shirt and knot a tie to the left side of my waist. I drove to the pack house and walked through the lane to the area. The training grounds stank of sweaty men. They were all hunks with the topless display of muscles and sinewy outlines. Observing those around me, I descended the wide steps unto the ground of the field. To the right of that field held three unattached story building that is used and maintained by the Gamma and his troops.
Everyone looked at me as I arrived on scene. Smiles and nods pleasantly greeted me. Compared to the past times I've visited, this was a contrast. By this time, enough of my Luna aura was visible for the pack members to identify me as that person.
"Luna." They all said in their own time and bowed. Blayne wasn't there so another guy approached me.
"Hi Luna, it's a pleasure that you are here training with us today. The Alpha and Gamma will be here shortly." He showed me the gym area of the first floor of the building to the end. "You could do some warm ups until they arrive and if you need anything, my name is Kevin. I'll be out here."
"Thanks." I went into the air conditioned building and began to jog on the treadmill. I put the earplugs in my ear and found a Tinashe song - "Coming at Me."
The gym was relatively empty. The guys won't come near me because they know Vance would flare and punish them, or kill them depending on his level of jealousy. A female came to my side to check on me.
"Hi Luna, I got some some water, would you like a bottle?" She said with a winning smile.
I stopped the treadmill and took the water, panting. "Thanks much. What's your name?" I guzzled the water down, trying to quench my thirst.
"Mierra," She responded and then gulped down the liquid.
"Your name is cute," I uttered. "I have seen you around here before."
"Thanks, I am here most early mornings. I watched you do your jogging sometimes. I didn't know that you were our Luna at the time."
"It's okay," I deadpan, "I have admired you from a far. I adore females who are feisty and strong."
"Are you flirting with me, Luna?" She laughed and I joined in. "In a few weeks you will be right there at the top as one of the best warriors here." She praised me.
"Let's see how that goes." Hopefully I get there soon. "I prefer to do some pad drills than run the treadmills. Would you mind helping?"
The enthusiasm gleamed in her eyes as she agreed. "Of course."
She walked to the small room to collect the pads that she strapped to her arms. "Come on, Luna. Hit ten each."
My body was propelled into action by her commands, which came at me like an energy surge. I raised my knee up to her chest and aimed my each foot at the pad of her elbows. My balance wasn't as poor as I thought.
"Strike."
"Good."
"Strike."
"Harder."
Curling my fingers into a tighter grip, I stroke with my might across her face, throat and then chest, but she easily deflects my hand. Mierra effortlessly blocks every blow since she is swifter and stronger. I needed a lot of work to tap into my inner strength and agility. To sum it up, my attack form was weak.
Using the elements of intimidation, I looked at her square and fierce. Again, she blocks my knee, and a few punches towards her shoulders, stomach and neck. Almost feeling frustrated for failing to land a strike, I released a growl that made her cower in fear.
"Sorry," I reached out to touch her shoulder apologetically. "I'm a little frustrated. Sorry."
"No worries," She removes the pads, "Let's take a break."
"Did I scare you." My heart sank because I liked her, and I wanted to continue the jollity.
"Yes," She blatantly admitted with a nervous laugh.
"Maybe you and I could spar when...............".
There was a loud commotion on the outside that interrupted us. We ran to see what caused that great noise, and found one of the warriors who was sparing with our specially designed electric batons had unintentionally activated the hidden silver blade that elongated, and pierced his partner's heart.
He collapsed on the ground with blood gushing out of the opened wound. I rushed over to him with Mierra at my side and parted through the crowd of warriors. I knelt down by his side and placed my hand over the wound. "It's going to be okay." I was reassuring him with hope in my heart. I felt his heavy breaths as the silver delineate his veins showing darkened lines. I removed my blouse and placed it over the wound.
"Mom, we have an injured wolf at the raining ground. It's a punctured silver wound to the heart. Can you come immediately?" I held his head upright and waited for my mom's reply through the mind-link. By now the cloth we applied to his chest for pressure on the wound was soaking red.
"Get him here as quickly as you can." She responded with urgency. "We can't do much with him there."
He was blocking out and I thought that he might not make it. "Stay with me!" His eyes rolled over and his face went pale. A pain fired in my chest that grew and turned into a budding warmth that was pulled out of me. I felt dizzy and giddy headed but tried to concentrate.
repeated to the warriors what my mom said, and they started to lift him for transportation. His head leaned forward and his hand gripped mine. "I am okay." His breathing still heavy. I stared at him in bewilderment.
I stayed by his side with my hand still in place. They never left his body for one second. He managed to push upright and out of the hands that lifted him up as he opposed our actions. I release him and in a split second realized that the bleeding stopped.
Vance appeared out of nowhere, at my side checking my body for wounds as his top priority. "Are you okay?"
The guy's blood covered my hands and got on my tank top, and abdomen.
I brushed him off. "It's not me, but him." I pointed to the guy now standing up. Vance looked in his direction. His topless body bloodied but he was healed and moving around.
Others at the training ground gathered in small groups whispering and glancing at me. Their sounds inaudible as I fought my own dizziness from enveloping me. I clutched to Vance's shirt, who was trying to make sense out of what occurred.
In my zone, something was ripped from me but I couldn't put a name to it. I wanted to be hugged by Vance. I needed his scent. "There is no wound, Alpha." Blayne acknowledged what I already knew. He thoroughly inspected the warrior, wiping away his blood. He patted his chest for an injury that was no longer there, but we witnessed his near death experience.
I turned to Vance and leaned on his body. His arms automatically wrapped around me. My legs fell weak and then numb. My eyes contracted from dizziness and then I submerged into darkness.
