Chapter 21. Matthew
POV Author.
The arrival of Cyntia and Calix is now warmly welcomed by Cleo and also Caesilia. Both immediately broadcast the condition of Calix.
"I'm fine already. I'm healed,” Calix said, looking at his brother and sister with a wide smile.
The three children immediately embraced happily, while Reyna, who saw that, smiled happily. Now Reyna walked closer to Cynthia to greet her.
"How are you? Being in the hospital sure is stressful, huh?” Reyna asked with a big smile.
"Um, yeah, like that. Luckily Calix recovered soon, otherwise, I don't know how much longer I would have to be in the hospital. What's more, I've missed work three times," said Cynthia while massaging her temples, which felt dizzy.
While Cynthia was in the hospital, she never fell asleep. The woman always looked after Calix, afraid that something would happen to her child.
As a mother, what else does she have to do to be a father, of course, that's not easy. If she can be honest, she wants to say that what she is going through is very tiring.
But now that she has three children who are always encouraging, Cynthia is willing to do anything. If it's not like that, who will meet the needs of their children later?
Cynthia smiled as her three children held hands and entered the house at the same time, the destiny written for Cynthia might have been bad, not even what Cynthia thought.
But when there are three encouragements, now she seems to find light in the darkness. Yes, three lights in the dark.
"It turns out that twins have an inner bond, that's true, huh?" Cynthia immediately looked at Reyna confused when she said that.
Did she mean her son? Then what happened to the three children? Her son didn't make a fuss, did he?
"What do you mean, what's wrong with my son, are they troubling you?" asked Cynthia with an uneasy feeling.
What if her son was giving Reyna a hard time? Of course that made Cynthia feel bad for Reyna.
“They do have a strong emotional bond. Cleo and Caecilia told me earlier that Calix would go limp today, and sure enough, Calix came home today in good health,” Reyna explained kindly.
Hearing that again and again Cynthia smiled happily. Yes, her current son is all she has, and a portion of her light source. Cynthia was of course very happy when the peacocks protected each other.
The next day Cynthia had to go back to work, fortunately at that time she had sent a message to her boss to be absent for a few days.
After all, her child is also being treated, how could she go to work, right?
Cynthia immediately did what she had to do as usual, her eyes had been guarding as if she was looking for someone, huh, Hana! Where's that girl?
Cynthia didn't look at Hana at all. "Where is she going? Haven't come yet?”
While working, suddenly Cynthia was approached by her co-worker, "Where have you been, Cynthia?" She asked.
"My child is sick, I have to take care of him until he recovers," Cynthia answered plainly. While her co-worker nodded in understanding.
They all know Cynthia's status as a widow with three children, of course, it was a very hard thing for Cynthia, and that woman had to work hard for her three children.
"Oh, yes, I'm here to convey what Mr. Matthew said, if you've been waiting for him at the office." Cynthia, who was doing her work, immediately stopped and looked at her co-worker with mixed feelings.
What is this? He's not going to get fired, is he?
"What is it? Am I going to be fired?” asked Cynthia carefully.
“I don't know if it is, but you just meet first. Did you not permit Mr. Matthew?” Cyntia wasn't that stupid, of course, Cynthia permitted her boss. But somehow now her boss was calling her.
"Of course I gave permission, I was permitted to return to work when my child recovered, and yesterday I also sent a message to Mr. Matthew if I could return to work again." Cynthia's co-workers looked at Cynthia in confusion.
"I don't know either, just meet first, I hope you don't get fired." Cynthia nodded and went straight to Matthew's room.
Arriving in front of her boss's room, Cynthia didn't dare to just walk in, the woman regulated her breathing first and also her heartbeat.
After she had had enough, Cynthia now immediately knocked on the office door. After hearing a voice telling her to come in, Cynthia held the doorknob and opened it slowly.
There she could see Matthew who was looking at her with cold eyes. Cynthia walked slowly and sat right in the chair opposite Matthew.
“Where have I been, Cynthia? Are you tired of working here?” Matthew asked Cynthia. While the woman was very surprised when she heard what Matthew was muttering.
“N-not like that, sir. I took care of my sick child at the hospital, just came home yesterday, sir,'' explained Cynthia.
Cynthia had also sent a message to Matthew, but for some reason, the man asked about her absence a few days ago.
"What are you saying? Are you boasting?” asked Matthew, glaring at Cyntia.
Cynthia shook her head vigorously, she wasn't boasting. What she said is a fact! "I have indeed sent you a message if I am not absent for the next few days," said Cynthia again.
But Matthew's gaze seemed to belittle Cynthia, the man didn't seem to believe what Cynthia said.
“I haven't received any messages from you at all, Cynthia so stop bragging! If you are tired of working, please leave here!” angry Matthew.
Cynthia looked down deeply, the woman did not dare to look at Matthew, after all, no matter what her defense, Matthew did not want to listen to her. Besides, Cynthia wasn't lying at all, she had already sent a message but for some reason, her boss was accusing her of nonsense.
“Are you tired of working, Cynthia?” asked Matthew while looking at Cynthia who was looking down.
“N-No, I'm not bored or want to quit, I need this job for my kids, please don't fire me, sir...” Cynthia said in a low voice.
"Is it true? You still want this job and need it?” Cynthia nodded quickly. While Matthew stared at the woman in front of him meaningfully.
“Then why were you absent for a few days? You want to eat blind wages?” asked Matthew, smiling contemptuously at Cynthia.
