Chapter 29 You'll Get Over It.

Chapter 29 You'll Get Over It.
Jayden

She immediately raised her head, and blinked twice. It seemed she was just starting to recognise this because she was a late bloomer. Her wolf sense was extremely low, and she took time to notice things.

I, on the other hand, had noticed it for a long time before, but didn't say anything. For some reason, I was mad at why the moongoddess gave me this kind of mate. I mean, there were so many other things or people in this world, why her?

It was crazy to ask, but that was a really good fact that I had failed to point out.

I sighed, shaking my head, but she expressed her shock, stammering the words at the tip of her tongue. “You're, you're my mate?"

Silence echoed in the room. I wasn't so excited about it, so I guess I was stuck with whatever I got.

"You shouldn't mention this to anyone, do you hear me?” I asked, and when she didn't respond because she was still trying to process, I grabbed her arm, and immediately stared her right in the face.

The glare from my eyes was enough to ease her down, and also confused her a lot because my reaction wasn't what she had been expecting.

“You really have to stop doing this. I know that there's a lot, but you have to understand that things aren't the way we always expect them to be.”

She blinked, Mary was obviously losing, and struggling to understand what exactly I had to say. Well, it was serious, and I knew that there was a lot already happening, but I guess she wasn't getting what I wanted her to understand.

“We might now be together afterall. I don't love you, and–”

She shook her head. "But we only just found out about the mate Mark and we've been supposed to change something, so what happened?”

I scoffed, my teeth coming into view as my smirk turned into that of manipulation. My face seemed scary to behold because she seemed pale about whatever I had said.

"You are a late bloomer. I found out about all this long ago, and I'm not worried about it like you, but you seem overly protective, and overly….” I stopped talking, watching how she tried to comprehend all I was saying.

Her hands were shaking uncontrollably, and she tried to maintain the shock, but I knew she might end up crying.

"Did you see the way you look, stop being so pathetic. You're not the first person to be rejected. I mean–”

She snapped up her gaze to look at me. " You want to reject me? Jayden!" It seemed the truth was bigger than her. She tried her best to maintain it, but it was just not able to fit in.

" You have to be calm, and coordinated. I know you have to be because you have no choice. I don't love you, and I don't think the mate bond works that way. We aren't meant to be Mary, get it into your head so you don't go around spreading rumours.”

At this time, tears had already started to stream down her eyes, and her lashes had been soaked with tears.

"What did I ever do to you? I have always loved you. I cared for you, and I even had no time for myself because I felt like you deserve all the love. Do you really want to hurt me?"

I shook my head. This was where she was getting it wrong. I wasn't sure I was the one hurting her. She had always been the one hurting herself without knowing. It was painful, but it was a hard truth.

“Do you really think you can do something like this? Like pull off this kind of stunt on me?" She started a bit brave, but cowered when she noticed how intense my gaze was.

“I did all I could for you. I helped you from the moment you walked into this pack."

A sigh escaped my lips, and I lowered my head, pretending to feel sympathy as I walked over to her to hold her shoulders.

"Yes you did, and I'm not denying that fact, but were you expecting me to love you in return? No… that's not how it works around here."

“But I love you. I really do. I know you might not be able to say it to me, but I know you do too. You even kissed me."

My laughter erupted like a volcano in the silent room, and I watched how her expression twisted the more she realized she had been trying to convince herself that something that could never work actually worked..
"Kissed you, you should be glad we didn't mate. I'm glad you were always close to me, and now I've been able to tame my wolf to be strong, and independent without you, that's something you don't actually know."

The pain was too much for math to bear. She squeezed her hands in her chest, and sobbed like a child. I didn't know what she was thinking. Maybe she was weighing her options, trying to see where she made the wrong turn, but she didn't.

The only mistake she made was loving me, and on the moongoodess’ end it was bringing someone that would never leave my heart so close to me.

I had tried so hard to control myself. I tried so hard to be able to make sense of everything, but it seems as though life has taught me to follow my heart.

Mary sprung up all of a sudden rushing to me with her teeth clenched and her hands fisted, and she banged on my chest countless times. Tears flowed down but was there really anything I could do.

“You bastard! I loved you, I imagined a world with you, you gave me hope. Why do you have to shatter it so much? If you never loved me, why didn't you just say it to my face?”

I watched how she tried to break through me with words, and other things, but when she was becoming more fierce, I grabbed her hands, and stared right into her eyes.

It was silence, not total silence as her now silent sobs still reached my ears.

Her eyes were a bit heavy, her lips pressed as she sniffled uncontrollably. Her lashes are wet, and eyes red. She was going through pain, and I hadn't even rejected her yet.

“You're leaving me. You're leaving your mate for someone you don't even know. Do you know how much I love you? I've never said it, but I've always tried my best to work hard for it. I make sure to show you everyday, and–”
She started to sob again, interrupting her already unclear words due to the tears that flowed down her eyes.

I exhaled, looking for the right words to console her at the moment, but I used the best I could find within me.

“I know you're mad now but you'll get over it, I promise you.”
