Chapter 18 He Touched What Wasn't His
Naida
I was worried about the way things were already unfolding. The fact that he was there with me was something that I didn't understand.
I was already scared. I knew him being here should make me happy, but for some reason I couldn't shake off the gear that was eating deep inside of me. I tried l breath, and tried to control my fear, but I couldn't.
“You seem a bit to calm, what's the matter?” He asked. As always Jayden seemed to have observed me mood, and as caring as he had always been, he had thrown a question, one I wasn't sure i had the answer to quite yet.
“Nothing. I'm just shocked to see you here," i explained, and when I didn't hear any further questions I was forced to breathe a sigh of relief.
However, after a few seconds, he spoke again. “You know I know you're lying right? I can smell your lie from a mile away, and I may say I am quite shocked."
His words caused me to immediately stop in my tracks, and my hands were fisted. He also stopped right behind me, his mind probably racing as he wondered what was wrong with me.
Silence echoed for a bit, but inside my head was a raging ear of thoughts, oje fhay couldn't control even when I wanted to.
Why didn't he want to let it go? I knew he was being caring, but how was i supposed to tell him that Luciver wouldn't mind tearing him limb from limb just by seeing him with me.
“Don't worry about it,” i answered, and then took in a deep breath before I continued to walk.
He followed immediately. I heard his footsteps, but I knew Jayden. He cared too much to let go, and despite it being wonderful, I found that it wasn't as easy as I expected it to be too.
"Well, I don't know what to say anymore. All I know is that there's something bothering you. I can tell, I have been your friend for years, but If you want to play that nothing’s wrong, and I'm just seeing things, then maybe you can go right ahead. I don't care anymore, and it certainly doesn't matter to me as much as it does to you."
I hummed, pausing. I knew he was already mad, but I didn't expect him to go mad so easily.
“You think I don't want to share the problem with you? I do, but then there's nothing we both can do."
He twisted his lips, eyes fixed on me, slightly squinted, and for a few seconds they weren't any words only heartbeats, and the sound of our breaths.
“You really shouldn't have to do this. You should know we are in Luciver's territory. Yes, you're my friend, but I'm his mate, and he doesn't like anyone near me.”
I had never seen anyone roll their eyes the way he did, and he looked around before taking three steps to reach the exact spot I was standing.
Then he darted his yes left and right again, even tilting his head over his shoulders to ensure that there was no one coming from there. However, when he noticed that there wasn't any soul coming, he finally said why he wanted to.
“You sure know how to believe rubbish," he echoed through clenched teeth, and then exhaled, massaging his hands on his temples.
"He's bot your mate and…” he trialed off because he head footsteps, and then he sighed. "Let's just go to the garden you were taking about. We till have unfinished things to talk about.”
As soon as he said that, I nodded. However,I couldn't shake off the part he said. My stomach twisted due to fear, and I had been trying so hard to be able to get it right, but it didn't seem to be going anywhere.
We walked for a while, my heart drumming, and when we finally got to the garden, we sat down on the seats already placed there.
"Nice place. I guess you come here to relax sometimes hmm?" He asked, and I exhaled. Why was he attacking everything that had to be with me being here?
"You really are something," i stated, but tried to get into what he was telling me from the very beginning. “So tell me why are you here?”
He laughed. "Well why else would I be here beautiful. I'm here to save you from his hands, and to make sure you don't make the mistake of falling into his hands again. Trust me, there are so many mistakes you shouldn't be making.”
I nodded, and smiled at the same time, trying to push away the fear that lingered.
"Jayden, there's nothing we can do. Maybe I am doomed to die, maybe this is what is meant to happen if indeed what you're saying is true.”
He rushed a brow, face squeezed in confusion. "Do you really think I'm lying to you, hmm?” His expression showed disbelief at the same time.
"Well, I'm not saying that you're lying, but I'm trying to tell you that it's not that easy. You keep saying that it's not as though things are hard, but then at the end of the day, you end up making wrong choices." He paused. “If it's not so hard then listen to me."
I shook my head, and was about to speak, but the maids came in with a tray filled with different meals, and placed it on the table. However, I didn't fail to notice the disgust on his face, and how his eyes trailed the maid till she left.
Then he immediately drew his line of sight back to me. It was obvious what he was trying to do, and for some reason I totally understand and get it.
“You really don't have to do this to yourself, allow me to help you out, Naida. Think about it. I am glad the moongoddess brought you my way again, and I'm sure it's not just for show. I still have a lot of care for you.”
He placed his hands on mine that has been resting on the table, and then smirked.
However, both our eyes turned the same direction in a few seconds.
“Who are you and why is your hand on my mate like that?" Luciver said, his tone dangerously low but could be heard, and his eyes held untold rage.
